There is no winner. Both cars are great and really similar in terms of performance. I would prefer the BMW because imo it looks more aggressiv. But the E63 is really cool too.

LOL. The newer C63 made after 2014 are sound neutered. The old 2008-2014 NA C63 had the sound of a brute the newer 4.0 TT sound weak by comparison. New model is quicker but just weak sounding.

Let’s be honest, it really really really is just personal preference between these two. They perform the same pretty much, cost the same, similar size. Both aim to offer Ferrari pace in a big family saloon. I don’t know which one I’d have? I would need to drive both first I think.

Drove an e60 last month, it is quick and man, with those aftermarket exhaust and a tune, it sounds insane, addictive! But the e39 drove better no matter what, it is a better car. It is more reliable too. The e60 handled like....... A heavy car but still is good. The smg is like what everyone said, it's harsh but quite fun. Idk e39 won my heart

The launch was messed up on the E63S and did poorly on the quarter mile as a result. If it made a good launch it would be just a hair slower than the Competition pack M5. And the M5 Competition pack lost to a stock E63S from roll.

I was always an m5 lover. But this new E63 is my fav out the 2 hands down. I am really not a fan of the new BMW designs both in and out. But this new merc ticks all the boxes. Looks great , sounds great, has more fresher looking interior design. And the performance is closely matched if not as much as the m5 competition

i just watched your vid with normal M5 vs E63s, and in rolling race Mercedes was only slightly faster in rolling race, now is faster even more and we have a Competition pack M5 on this test. you should compare M5 vs M5 Competition.
I think the difference is, sometimes the M5 doesn't downshift as quickly automatically and it's a 7 speed torque converter(M5) vs a 9 speed dct (E63S) so that could be the difference in the rolling race. I would assume if he would've downshifted in the M5 the results would've been different.

It's lighter, and that is what really makes the difference. However, the bigger torque in the AMG makes it pretty useful on a daily basis. Also, it comes as a Estate, which makes it twice as practical 😁

Surprising how? M5 was released later and it had the e63 to beat so they made slightly better. Soon the rs6 will come and it will be slightly better. Then there will be a new e63 that is yet better. In the executive sedan class mercedes sets the bar and other follows.
I'm a BMW Fan til the end, but Mercedes cars are just looking and sounding so sweet these days! I really hope the G80 M3 don't disappoint, because the C63s is a badass car. I'll just hold onto my e46 M3 as long as I can.

But I would take the AMG over the M5 because of the luxury features in the Mercedes.

When it comes to both specs and price, the regular M5 is more comparable to the E63S. The AMG beat it, so I'm sorry but it's better just like that. I still understand if you prefer the M5 though. I prefer both the exterior, the interior and the sound of the E63S, especially when it only lost by 0,1s on the 1/4 mile for 4 grand less (USD, official MSRP from official USA sites). Also, do both cars have the same tires?

Here in Belgium. The E63S starts from €133.000 and the M5 Competition from €130.000. Full option they are both like €175.000. The price of these cars varies dependent on how many equipment comes allong standard and the market in a country they are on.

As I seen a lot of times before, BMW wins over mercedes in drag race from 0 kmh and mercedes wins in a rolling race. Of course sometimes depending on models it can be the other way around.
I think it’s because they don’t launch the Mercedes properly. There’s launch control but if right before u launch u hit the downshift paddle it kicks the RPMs up another 1500 and it’s just that much faster off the line. At least that’s the only reason I could see why the bmw wins one and not both

Both cars are amazing but considering e63 has more weight and less hp than the m5 this 0,2 difference is a very good time

The BMW is way better engineered than the Mercedes. Are you dumb? The Standard M5 even manages to beat the top class E63s. It’s lighter, has less horsepower and NM, but yet beats the AMG cause it’s way better built and engineered. You have a much nicer exterior and way better build quality inside. AMG is a big Joke compared to BMW.

@Get Skill or Die Trying Correct, both vehicles produce more power than advertised. The M5’s torque comes on sooner in the RPM range vs the E63S’s. The M5 is also slightly lighter and produce more peak power hence the reason for the slight lead in the drag race. However, in a roll race, the E63S’s superior gearing make its torque more manageable and allows it to pull ahead of the M5. I believe if they were equal in power output, the E63S would win in both drag and roll races.

You don't know anything about cars / torque/ powerband and if you think that the Merc is tapped out with the Torque it develops or potential for more you're in la la land. The interior is nice in some ways but to say it's better than the BMW is incorrect.
Being flashy does not make a car better. They both work in two completely different ways.
BMW is minimalistic, tidy and still quality and luxury.
Mercedes is more flashy, posh, crazed and a little childish. It also has less quality.
Well as an honest BMW fan and Mercedes lover, I have to say I expected the BMW to mop the floor with the Merc by at least a few more seconds in both the drag and roll especially because the BMW is in latest form whilst the Benz has not received an upgrade to its current form or is an older model here. And let's be honest the Merc wins here purely because of that and I know that BMW fans don't like this, well I also don't because I'm a fan myself and all we can do for now is go figure what will happen when the new model of this E63s comes out, and I can bet you now it will be a few more seconds faster then the current M5 comp. Now where does that leave Audi?.. Because I have to be honest I love them and I cannot finish these sentences without them, they make two of my favorite cars in the form of RS6 Wagon and RS7, which gives them a chance to steal the light/thunder here with the newer models of either the RS6 or RS7 just like they did with their RS3 in that other segment called the hot hatch segment ...

@@RoloHolland ok MR know it all, the current Merc E63 AMG used to leave the previous M5 right behind the rear view mirror. Don't you think a newer M5 vs a relatively oldish E63 amg should emulate that. Or are you not worried by the fact that a newer car manages to only finish at the line side by side with an older car that it is supposed to compete with and not only that it finds itself on the rear view mirror on a roll race. If the upgrades made on the BMW were far superior then it should have won the drag, roll and stop like every new E63 amg would against an older or current M5. Don't be emotional about something like this but see things the way they are. I know you are a BMW fan now just like I am. But let's be honest the E63 is better here.

Also, it would be the worthwhile to note that the original bm m5 lost to the same merc e63 s on all 3 categories (do watch it!) and beefed up bm m5 had to appear do a 2nd round with same merc to score a win with a 2 out of 3

@@boondockbwoy14 nope. S for Mercedes is just a naming convention. In reality e63s and m5 compete with each other. That's why both have similar power fi weight ratios and similar pricing overall. And that's why in many countries only the e63s version is offered and not the non s version.

@@John69420 Incorrect. E63S is faster by 0.1 sec at the road course track. You'll need Competition pack M5 to match it or beat it by 0.0014 sec.

These cars are crazy fast for a car in general not just a 4 door saloon. The Audi RS6 will not be any faster though and that is a fact. The only reason why the previous 2 Audi RS6 models had the upper hand was because of the 4 wheel drive systems they had off the line which led them to victory in a drag race only (different story round a track). However now that these new M5 and E63s have incoporated all wheel drive it means bad times for Audi because not only will the M5 and E63s accelerate at near identical pace if not faster than the next gen RS6 but also they have the ability to be driver focused track cars which I'm sorry to say having driven an RS6 round a track is no where near as engaging but yes it is still very quick. Atm BMW has narrowly regained it's crown as king of the super saloons.

It seems Audi is repositioning their RS cars lately, and has stopped challenging hardcore cars like the M4 (competition). The RS5 of today, with it's smooth biturbo 2.9 liter V6 and plush ride, is what you would call a Gran Turismo. Very fast and capable on the open road, very well suited for long highspeed journeys, but no track car.
I think the new Audi RS6 will be close to the E63S. Very fast, but not as focused and fast around a track as the BMW.
I'm very curious what engine the RS6 will get. Maybe the one from the Bentley Continental GT3?

I’ll usually consider drag time real comparison . They’re top notch drivers . This comparison is irrelevant.. the launch and the stopping really depends on the driver so there’s no need to chime in on biased opinions. I’ve seen comparison when the e63 blows the m5c out the whole time .

Why is it always, the guy in the AMG who sucks at launching. I mean c’mon... that AMG definitely has the potential to win. Good launch equals faster maximum torque. We also know for a fact, that the AMG has more torque, which gives it the power to reel the M5 in.
Yeah true, but with a good launch he would achieve his maximum torque way faster, which means he also would get the win.
