WVA and MVDP were both incredibly good. It seemed like MVDP cracked under pressure in the first rounds - he was not sharp at all - and eventually even crashed due to it. Then WVA had bad luck and had a lesser second half because of it. I would’ve liked to see this battle without the flat tyre, I think MVDP would’ve won nevertheless, but would’ve definitely been much closer. The only reason I watch CX is the fact that these 2 legends race here.

@@Tim-K. well he was under pressure but did you see the line where he crashed ? It was deep and sideways . I would have crashed to without pressure 😂 but yeah ur right it Would have been closer . But Wva came back with 3 seconds behind but mvdp rode flawless trough those sand strokes and Wva cracked on that 21% steep bridge and that was were the race was over . They both lost 11 seconds (mvdp with the crash, and wva with the puncture ) so it is quit . And mvdp came closer before wva had a flat tire

i'd enjoy watching cyclo-cross more if I understood what the length of the races are. I found this bit on the net but haven't a clue what it means, it's so complicated-
"The rulebook says that races (elite men) have to last for approximately one hour. The jury notes the lap times in the first two laps and after that they calculate how many laps the riders will have to ride. In a regular race, the goal is to get as close to 60 minutes as possible, but in a world cup race the race has to last longer than one hour. So if one lap takes 6 minutes, elite men have to ride 10 laps in a regular race and 11 laps in a world cup race (women and U23 men race for 50 minutes, juniors for 40 minutes).

What an extreme badluck for Van Aert, would Van der poel come back when van aert didn't heve puncture ? SURE NOT why would he, he was in opform and he beats Van der Poel all day long on that parcours. People don't realize that he had puncture on real bad spot, 3 min before the pits. He lost 30 seconds and lot of resources, while Van der Poel got an easy ride to get back on and over him. I say terrible badluck because getting here a puncture is 1 on 1000 laps maybe. Their is not one rider in top 20 that got puncture for the whole race besides Van Aert, so don't say it belongs to the sport. All other races this season I can life with it somehow but not this parcours and F Uking at WORLDS!!! WHy why why. Van Aert was best here, but Van der Poel took it. Congrats to Van der Poel I love this guy to. And CHAPEAU to Toon Aerts and that swiss guy, nice race. Its just sad that the most badluck that Van Aert got on all his races is just on the WC (Toilet , no im kidding)

Did you watch the race? Before the puncture happened . MvdP was back within 8 seconds.. specific notice to the bridge climb where he gained a lot.. This was before the puncture. To say he wouldnt gain 8 seconds the rest of the race is kind of silly.. the next laps he won time at all the crucial points. mainly the sand stretch before the climb, the climb itself.. and then the technical parcour..

@@D0nKeY It is very much possible he could gain 8 more seconds even without the puncture, just like it was equally possible that he'd lose 8 more seconds instead. MVDP made up these 8-10s due to a good passage, if WVA gets a good one and MVDP an average one, it would again go up.
The puncture essentially lost WVA the race, would he have certainly won without it? I am not sure, but imo he had the best papers.

@@MDP1702 in my opinion he didnt lose the race because of the puncture. like you said.. its about good passage. And we saw that WvA struggled a few times the next laps after the puncture where lost up to 10 seconds a round. So in that sense the puncture where he lost like 8 and then the bike change so lets say 15 seconds in total. It would still mean he lost.. because of MvdP having better lap times after the puncture.. enough to make up for those 8 to 15 seconds time loss.

Tell me, what cyclist in the entire world rides their bike own sand. Answer, nobody, sand ruins bikes. Moronic race, give the Belgium team doctor 1st place and liquidate the UCI mafia.

Sand is rather often used in cyclocross, though this is an extreme example.

Answer: All real cyclists. Bikes are meant to be used. Cyclocross and Gravel bikes are designed for sand. You are supposed to clean and maintain your bike after every single ride. When parts get worn out you replace them. If you don’t do this you are not a real cyclist.
