  • Nice Finnish tune with rhythmical subtleties. And once more a proof of how bowing patterns can alter the feeling of music !
    Tune : Schottis från Korsbäck (also called Tresk schottis), Österbotten, Finland, after Valter Enlund, after Sigfrid Liljedal.
    I learned this tune from Peter Enroth.

    Hello Emelie. A few updates to the history of this tune. I had the privilage to play with Valter before he passed away about 10 years ago. Valter learned it from his fiddle teacher Sigfrid Liljedal who was a farm worker/peasant at their home when Valter was a kid, Sigfrid was from Korsbäck. We normally call this tune Tresk schottis (Tresk is what korsbäck is called by the local people). Nice to see that this tune has spread overseas. Thank you for the Video!

      My skills in raven tongue are very new and not well-trained, so I might have accidentally shouted insults at the beautiful bird - but it didn't come back to shit on my head or something, so I guess it understood the meaning anyways ^^

    This funny troll/devilish idea you had to go with the music really reminds me of the lyrics to Hårgalåten.

    A cute little tune, and masterfully illustrated as always... But my favorite part of this video is when you were talking to the raven. I absolutely adore ravens, and often call out to the ones at my in-laws' island, which often gets me strange looks. Maybe I should try playing music for them... They might fly over to say hello more often.

      Ooh another raven lover =) We have many around here and they have a knack for shouting when I'm trying to record or speak or concentrate ^^ And don't worry : "mine" also give me weird looks when I call out to them !

    I recently discovered your channel and love your videos. I was wondering if you could make some videos that explain the dances that go with the tunes you play (like hambo, polka, schottische/reinlender, etc.), and demonstrate the footwork. Or if you're more a musician than a dance instructor, maybe bring a guest instructor/friend on to teach dances.

    • @EmelieWaldken
      @EmelieWaldken  Před rokem

      I have been considering that for years, as I am indeed also a dance teacher. The problem is that I don't have access to a good dancing place where I live. It might come some day, IF I solve that bit =)

      I wonder what Trolls are like in Finland. Moomintrolls are not exactly Tolkeinesque, haven’t really read up on it, or asked anyone. (Would it be like those big Faeries in Ireland/Scotland ?)

    Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what kind of pants are you wearing? ive seen you wear that kind that are like baggy down to the knees in several videos and i have no clue what word to use to look for some to buy. there just isnt anything like them in the US in stores, but they look like they would be so comfortable.

    • @EmelieWaldken
      @EmelieWaldken  Před rokem +1

      My pants are homemade - that's why you can't find anything similar in stores. I mean, there are a few similar options (my design is based on Viking Rus' poofy trousers, there are also some similar shapes in various Asian countries, like the Japanese hakama) but mine especially are unique. I sew them out of upcycled trousers.
