- Who said folk music could not be groovy, heavy, making you want to shake your hair wildly ?? The "Dark Island" tune is a good counter-example of that cliché.
Tune : Slängpolska efter Anders Gustaf Andersson (nicknamed "Pom Pom Pom") from Mörkö, Södermanland, Sweden

Added bonus awesomeness of the name: In Finnish, Mörkö means a boogeyman/goblin of sorts and is also the name of the character of Morran (the Groke) from the Moomins.
=D That's AWESOME !! It's the GOBLIN TUNE !!
Oh, so kind of like . . . (wait for it) . . . A FINNTROLL! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@Didymus20X6 Yeeeaaaaahhhh \m/
It could also mean "dark island", for an Island can be dark for many natural reasons, like no trees and a dark rock-color to it. The Norwegians saw trolls in the mountain-sides as well.
Our lord and savior has returned - we are blessed :) - Jesting aside, it is pure brilliance to have your presence once again!
Hahaha I'm not sure I could save anyone, but I sure can drag people to the Folk Side ;)
@@EmelieWaldken it is always worthy to attempt it so - besides, one more turning to the Folky tune is one more piece of elation!
As for today’s title thought I was a new metal band from Sweden.
Thank you for explaining into details. I could pronounce Slängpolska and Mörkö.
When it's from Sweden you never know if it's a new metal band or the name of the furniture =P
Having the baseline / chord chart to play on different instruments is brilliant! Thank you Emilie.
Glad you like it =)
Great tune
If Mona Lisa were a musician of the Nyckelharpa. Wonderful. 🎸
Supercool tune and great teaching! :) Thank you!
Thank you !
I love it from the first time I've heard it.. like in 2016
Love it! Will learn it asap :)
Great tune!
Que bella melodia. Muchas gracias : )
Love it! I'm going to learn this on accordion.
Thanks a lot for this video, I really like this tune! I hope that I can learn it on one of my Irish whistles and on the piano and make my own recording.
If you have a whistle that can play in Dm, then I'm sure it's very doable - you might need to octave a few bits, but perhaps not even =)
@@EmelieWaldken Thanks! Unfortunately I don’t have a whistle that plays in D minor but I think I will transpose it to another key then.
@@ZengHuaXiansheng Whatever functions ;)
Thanks! A very nice tune that works well on violin as well. And excellent teaching. Even I managed to learn the tune without dots on a paper. 👍😎
Love the nyckelharpa❤🎻 you're fantastic
Thank you !
I remember this one from Svall Duo.
... and Harpavei, and even Knep ;)
Yeeeees our A.G.A new how to rock! 🤘🏻
Yess good tune! Works well on the säckpipa too, after some adjusting
Also Mörkö is the Finnish name of Mårran from Moomin. Just in case you needed to know!
Really ?? So nice ! I was afraid the range was wayyy too big, but well, the fun of pipers is to adapt tunes, isn't it ? =P
@@EmelieWaldken As said, after a bit of adjusting ^^' B-part works all in the same octave though!
That's a cool instrument
❤
🔥👹🤘
Is that a gemshorn on the top shelf?
It is !
matur suksma
Please, where can I get this instrument to buy? Do you also teach classes? Thanks!
I have a list of builders here www.emeliewaldken.net/nyckelharpabuilders
I teach a bit but not accepting new students at the moment. There are courses and teachers in most of Europe and North America, in Japan and a few other countries. There's also a list for that on my website www.emeliewaldken.net/courses--teachers.html

I love the video but do you know the original tune is little bit different?
Of course it is, it's folk music, every musician has a different style and adapts tunes to that ;)
I'm boring. The tune I'd choose would be something like Irish washerwoman.
Be "boring" all you want... One of my absolute favs that I never get tired of is the absolutely overplayed "Konvulsionslåten" by Anders Norudde ;)
