This May be the worst truck I've bought! 2024 RAM 3500 HD Cummins....I think I HAD ENOUGH!

  • I think back on all the trucks I've had over the year or two and this by far may be the worst one yet. I think the RAM truck is a great looking truck, and I think it has a lot going for it, but 1400 miles in the Uconnect 5 is so quorky and weird, the leak in the transfer case, where they think the bushing is going out, poor towing qualities, what else could go wrong.
    Well RAM is putting out insane 10% off MSRP on remaining 2023 trucks, so if you are looking for a deal, they have one for you. But for me towing is what I do with these big guys and this truck doesn't have the towing manners of the Chevy GMC or even the Ford. Add on problems and you have one expensive boat anchor. Below is the towing impressions video please check that out.
    I can't believe it.

    I have a 2021 Ram 3500 Mega Cab HO and It's never had a light on or problem towing anything from my 10k-14k Travel Trailer Toy Hauler to my buddies dump trailer maxed out at 14k. It does have the factory air suspension and I couldn't be happier. I do have the Limited trim and the lights are outstanding, especially on high beams.
    The one thing I absolutely agree with you on are the plastic piping or molding around the windows that seem to have a bubble hear or there. That shit does drive me crazy and I will get it fixed while it's still under warranty.
    Good luck with the trade and I hope you're able to get what you want.

    All trucks are garbage now. Between the pandemic ruining quality and the government imposing stricter emissions controls. Hell, even our tractor trailers at work are constantly breaking down with emissions issues and poor overall reliability. When I get in a truck at work I have to check the a/c and wipers and defrost IN A NEW TRUCK.

    Really odd to hear your experience has been completely different than mine. I have a 3500 Limited HO Mega Cab w/factory air assist. It's extremely stable especially compared to my Platinum F350 which I felt I had white knuckle going down the road. My Ram tracks straight and handles the load with ease. Something sounds off with your truck for sure. I cant compare to a GM as I prefer having a solid front axle.

      I'm surprised to, this truck handles different than my 16 and my 15 ram. Over the chevy 2500, it still handles the best, especially over the ford and ram. The factory ram air is 100% worth it and adds major stability.

Did the Banks Monster Ram Air over the holiday weekend and that was way more of a PITA than I expected trying to get those last couple fuel rails off. But I got it back together and it's humming like a F'n hummingbird. I love the fit and finish of everything, the seats are way nicer than the 1500 ZR2 I had. • @jeffs2809
      @jeffs2809 Před 7 měsíci +1

      It has to if it's a diesel. Otherwise the DPF will fill, plug and you won't go anywhere. What you might mean is that you haven't been "notified" that it was doing a regen. Also, I don't know the latest programming strategy on the Cummins/Ram, my 2017 would automatically regen about every 24 engine hours, regardless of DPF differential pressure. That averaged out to about every 1,000 miles. This was only shown on an external monitor (edge) since the '17 wouldn't show anything on the dash until it became excessively restricted.

    Oddly, most hot shots towing heavy loads run Rams! First thing you should do with a new Ram HD is replace those POS tires! Try some good tires, and you'll find it drives and tows far better! My Ram 3500 tows great, and the engine braking is a game changer in my opinion! The Uconnect can be quirky for sure, but that's a minor ding IMO.

      I agree with you. I looked at three big three; Ford dealers in my area were asking $5-10k over sticker and would not accept my X-plan. Chevy/GMC were the same on, and $1500 off and yet again would not accept my Supplier affiliation program discount. Ram was the only who accepted my affiliated partnership discount, which was $9k off on top of their 10% off MSRP and other discount. Now I don’t do a lot of hauling/towing so I’m ok with towing rating and the load capacity. However, had one of the other two dealers accepted my affiliated discount I would have taken one of them.

    I'm thinking about trying a Ram 3500 HO... Mostly for you tube purposes. Had one for a short time back in the day. I'm surprised you choose the GM out of the big 3. I had a '23 King Ranch traded for a '24 Denali ultimate because of the cluster gauge issues. I would give ford the win hands down on not only towing but also comfort. I hated the seats in the GM... I ended up trading it off because of the seats. Like your videos, cheers!

    Man, sorry about Your truck! Really sucks to have a new truck in the shop. I still own a ‘96 doge 2500 4X4. Has been a great truck. Super mileage, and no DEF. At 250,000 miles still going strong. I was going to buy another Ram, but got scared off with Their low payload #’s/coil over rear suspension. Glad I did. I bought a 2024 Chevy 3500, with the Duramax. Seats are hard, and I worry about the front axle durability over time. Having said that, this truck get’s a good honest 17-18 miles per gallon average. For Me this is a win, as I will probably own this truck several years. It does work as a daily driver, with a good mix of in town, and Freeway miles. As far as Regens go, I am new to the whole DEF, particulate filter thing, so have no experience with that. At 4000 miles I have had no Indication of a Regen. who knows, maybe I am lucky, or have had the right combination of putting load on the truck. I did haul 3500 lbs. of lead shot about 350 miles at Freeway speeds. Maybe that cleaned it out. This truck is a powerhouse. Has more than most people need, including Me. These trucks are pretty large and clunky, not the easiest rigs to park at Your local Safeway store. Just My 2 cents.

    Thanks for the honest review based on your personal experience. What can we expect from a Fiat with a Cummins? You seem to have your share of issues especially with the 7.3 Ford.

      Truly bummed for sure on this one. And I forsee a gen 2 L5P coming soon to the channel. I will say that the GM trucks win on towing and abilities over any gas or diesel version from ford or Ram! Plus I really like the look of the Chevrolet. Thanks for being here.

    I think the tires certainly don’t help the towing experience but I think it’s the overall size difference with the GM trucks compared to the Rams.
    And then Fords are bigger too but they are also a good amount lighter than a GM and I think between that and the solid axle with its death wobble issues is why the Fords don’t tow as good.

    I had a Ram 3500 limited dually and it was the biggest piece of shit that I’ve ever owned. Fuel pump failure, transmission failure and now engine failure.

      I've had 16 ram trucks, 1988 to 2024, v10s, cummins, 360s, 318s. Loved them all, the 2024, leaking at 200 miles and whatever they changed after 2015, yes I didn't like how it towed, which it doesn't tow better than the GM or Ford, on top of the issues. At 90k yes I'm not happy with it, but I know tons love them and if I could go back and have my 15 Ram, game over....or even my H.O manual Trans 2005.....good stuff. If you love yours and it does what you need it....that all one needs in life is to be happy.

    Turned my 21 ram laramie in cuz of cheap feel overall....6 months old and it looked like it was 3 or 4 years old.....it looks great at first glance but owning one a day comparing it to others it's felt the cheapest....

      I had a 16' it was great but own a 19' for the past few years and I've never had a single issue with it. Other than the leaking rear window.. seems like every ram has that lol. If you get a good one, hold onto it.

    I am not so sure you are giving all the facts.... a gas engine performing as well as a Cummins diesel ???? You call it a HD diesel and not a HO diesel .... You can't even get the terminology correct how is anyone expected to take your review seriously?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  Před 7 dny

      I appreciate the feedback. I think many get caught up in things that aren't all that matter. As for the performance of the engine, sure a diesel will out performance a gas in almost every single engine way. I put in a caveat, the control of the truck, suspension, all other things like that. Also this was only a standard output diesel, not HO. For 25 ram is also going back to only one diesel option. I've owned over 30 diesel trucks from all big 3. Most people getting into the HD market may have never even owned a truck and have little knowledge about what owning a diesel requires. I've worked on diesels for 20 years, my son followed in my steps and is a diesel mechanic. On a weekly basis he sees at least 3 to 4 diesel filled with gas and then driven to the shop because they don't run right. I keep it I'm simple terms as much as I can. Lastly, yes the current ram truck, aside from the engine, does not perform as well in control, ride or handling as the ford and chevy...gas or diesel asside.

      Yep, this will be my last ram until they do a complete re design of the HD Ram....I've had several super duty trucks (which is what we have at work) and loved them.....tried to bring all three trucks to the channel this year...this one was a dud.
