This song to me is the perfect representation of life. "Come and See" You are born into the world and you go out and see new things .new ideas. New concepts cultures people etc.. U grow up and u know time is playing a game that u will lose. But you have known happiness before. And you know troubles will always come like it has before Then at some point you meet your specialsomeone that touches your soul but that youve lost... I think we all have that one person.. A young love or maybe a parent or sibling that passed away. And you know they wont come back But truly and undoubtedly you wanted to spend one more sec together You wanted to stay And feel good again like when you were young You wanted to play You wanted to keep feeling that motivation and passion that love comes with You wanted to love again . But u cant love the same again.. Not how it was when u were young And though u always believed there was a chance to get get back together It wont happen and u have to keep moving forward Then i think the second part of the lyrics he is talking to himself. He knows good times will come But he cant believe anymore Its not the same He tells himself he will wake up And bring himself water And dance in the rain and let the water splash his face And feel how he did when he was young. The solo parts speak way more volumes Than the actual lyrics. I think they simplify life adequately . It starts slow then crises and rises to a climax Then another instrument comes in and u go higher to a zenith. And then then chorus or melody from the beginning comes back and u feel happy af again . but then it starts to slow down... And in life u come to a point where youre like Wow.. I lived SUCH A HAPPY LIFE amd Such A SAD LIFE too..and honestly its perfect that way. U remember the good times the climaxes of life amd the song but in this time u learn to appreciate the falling action of life or getting old. The slow part of the song amd its soothing and its just what u need after Such amazing moments. But you keep going slowly and peacefully Playing notes very slowly yet soothing An opposite to the beginning of your life.. Magical.. Piano.. Stairs.. Then you stop... This song is an oddysey Thanks
i'm the biggest john mayer fan and I just cannot get over how fucking killer this was. Some of the best playing I've heard out of him ever. and that's obviously saying something.
Was at this concert after the 2007 Virginia Tech tragedy. Best concert I've ever been to. Leroi Moore came out and played with John Mayer and John Mayer came out and played with Dave. Wish they would have released a DVD of this show!
John’s strumming is so INCREDIBLY awesome. I have Absolutely NO questions or unassuredness of who orchestrated and fronted this version. 13sh years away after this “situation”-It’s a masterpiece!!!!!
I’ve listened to this a handful of times over the years, and I’m still convinced that if they had a good live recording of this version of #41 it would be one of CZcams’s and one of both of their best jams ever!! I genuinely envy the people that got to see that live! I think the only answer to this is they need to do a new live collaboration!!!
That segue into Everyday, and John Mayer, not to mention Earth's greatest band, and of course my favorite song of all time #41, UGH TOO MUCH! ITS TOO MUCH!
Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Keith Urban should make a band. Idk who the bassist and drummer should be. But we need more modern super-groups with people like these.
I kept feeling like he was going to overstay his welcome or get lost but he just kept absolutely killing it. Incredible guitar playing that fit a whole other universe/band/style of music to a T.
You can tell Carter and John wanted to Jam for hours. And they could have. Gimme 2 hours of this song with John on it and it’s worth the price of admission.
@@ckmckeon you've not listened to a lot of his stuff then because I swear he deserves a spot, if you're interested in listening I have a few recommendations!
He's great, but top 10, no. Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, mark Knoplfer, jimmy page, Joe satriani, Eddie van Halen, bb king, Duane Allman, George Harrison, probably some more you could throw in there.
Henrik Lindland still watch thus weekly. Love the slow build. Non mayer fans don't know what's up.. The build and you can hear the fans think oh shit.. GOD DAMN MAYER
This was not for Virginia Tech. This was on October 2, 2007 at the Hollywood Bowl. The Virginia Tech concert was held a few months before October, and that version could be found on CZcams.
does anyone know how to count what carter and john are doing at the 7:20 mark? sounds like they're doing/accenting half-note triplets but they start at a weird spot in the bar and i can't keep the count
Not gonna lie, if I was at this concert, I would have gone berserk. Two of my all time favorites. Thanks for the video.
+Evelio DLeon Awesome pairing!
Agree! Absolutely berserk! OMG!
That makes two of us
For sure.
FACTS!!!!!!!!!
John’s first major concert he went to was a Dave Matthews concert at 19 now he’s playing with him on stage
#41 and john Mayer?? Best thing ever
Master John I actually found this because I thought "JM should make a cover of this song..." I can't believe they at least played together
right omg
On probably the best DMB song
This with Bela Fleck & Flecktones is on a other level.

Anyone still watch this daily lol
I literally listen to this about 3-4 times a week lol. Hands down the best live version of #41
Listen to the one with Bela fleck (32 minutes)

Carter drives this track so damn good. The interaction between him and Mayer is insane, such a joy to experience.
4 sho !
Couldn’t agree more
Check out the one with Trey Anastasio
This might be the best music video on the internet.
This is now my favorite version of this song!! John Mayer is just incredible!! Especially with Dave!!
only true musicians at the top of their game can conceive such a great peice of music
This just gets so magical at 5:00. Mayer and DMB are the best. John can pluck a guitar like no other
Epic riff..............
Mayer is one of the best guitarists of all time hands down . Underrated for how talented he is.
He’s underrated? I thought everyone knew how incredible he is.
How have I never seen or even heard of this before today?!? That was outstanding. Thanks for uploading this!
I would have died. Two of the GOATS singing THIS song. Too much magic.
Voltron has formed! Wow!!! At 6:30 Mayer went the hell off!! You could see him catch the vibe and and he took off with it!
We miss you LeRoi.... R.I.P. our FRIEND!
+Edith Amador Thats what i was thinking as soon as he starting playing :(
Edith Amador gosh we so do......:(
I’m campaigning for these two to tour together. Grateful Dead is great but this is epic!

Ben Tyler Hollywood Bowl October 2nd 2007. The same night we got Exodus with the Marley's and #34
Ben Tyler that would’ve been one of the best selling live DVD’s ever if they did!
I was there too. I was 13 and flipped my lid.
John’s strumming is so INCREDIBLY awesome. I have Absolutely NO questions or unassuredness of who orchestrated and fronted this version. 13sh years away after this “situation”-It’s a masterpiece!!!!!
Indeed
I think I've never heard such a good audio from concert audience footage
Really? This is terribly recorded.
for 06 or 07 or whenever this was recorded, this is pristine quality. You tiktok kids have no idea
I've got goosebumps!!!
GREAT!
John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band are my two favorite bands.
12:57 John channels SRV's "Riviera Paradise"
This is music at it's best

John is probably the best guitarist ever I’m not joking I’m a musician he does no wrong. It’s insane A true virtuoso in every meaning of the word.
The "Body is a Wonderland" guy now plays with the Grateful Dead. Who'da thunk? 🐐
@@bigoshify when was that?
Currently..
@@bigoshify didn’t the Grateful Dead disband decades ago?

Holy crap. DMB #41 plus John Mayer!???!!?
Tundra, Tools, and Tech
Killa !
This. Was bloody magical. Magical. That's the perfect word for it.
That segue into Everyday, and John Mayer, not to mention Earth's greatest band, and of course my favorite song of all time #41, UGH TOO MUCH! ITS TOO MUCH!
De los mejores solos de John Mayer! La banda no se queda atras, increible..
So amazing! Although it feels like you are listening to the normal version of the song, John's touch is undeniable. Just perfect!!
The amount of talent on one stage is mind blowing.
"I am what I am because of the Dave Matthew Band" - well said JM! You and many others here.
NOW THAT TO ME IS FIRE
I need a jam session with DMB and John Mayer this summer. Possibly some fancy cookies too. Go Big.
One of the sickest solos ever
10-2-07 I was there!! It was awesome!!
Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Keith Urban should make a band. Idk who the bassist and drummer should be. But we need more modern super-groups with people like these.
Michael Polland victor Wooten bass, Carter drums
Michael Polland Stefan is amazing but Wooten is a god
Pino Palladino
how about pino palliadino and steve jordan? i have a feeling that they would work great with mayer
6:15 is magical. He improvises leroi solo. Incredible
Thank you for uploading this. What a wonderful performance!
Never gets old and love it when he jams with other talents. So awesome.
That right there is simply magical.
7:19 to 7:33 with the bass line at 7:25 The gift of music the ultra instinct of experience
I am who I am because of Dave Matthews band, since he was the music of my childhood I agree
I think this is the best thing I’ve ever heard IN MY LIFE.
Holy shit. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Whoa!! ❤
What I really noticed was that it seemed like John had wanted that moment to play with Carter for a long time. And why wouldn't he?
My two faves! Just magical✨
Dave and Jimmy page have same birthdays! Neat fact, my daughter and i share our day with Jerry!!!,Aug 1st
Came straight here after Dead & Co. brought Dave on stage in Boulder
Me too. Fab musicians
John Mayer was so caught up in it that he was somewhere else by himself or caught the holy ghost! Either way I'm impressed that happens rarely!
AmaIng
Literally my two fav artists. I would of gone into super sayian fan mode.
Thank you Donavon. I love DM & I also love JM. The two together are so peanut butter & Jelly.
WOOOOOOOOWWWWW
This Jam sounds Awesome!!!
DMB & JM Really knows how to Enjoy Fun!
Wow. John Mayer perfectly complimented #41 with his style. Wonderful
very nice.. I think john mayer gives a different kind of touch to this version
Really liked this video! All the best!!
I kept feeling like he was going to overstay his welcome or get lost but he just kept absolutely killing it. Incredible guitar playing that fit a whole other universe/band/style of music to a T.

Steven Williams same here.
I’d like to see/hear John recreate that with the guitar he’s using now. Wouldn’t happen. No way!
7:22 is when the magic started
actually it starts at 5:08 :P
Jonathan Quintero I felt the magic from second 0
