- With its third refresh for this current ND generation, the 2024 Mazda MX-5 adds a larger infotainment screen, improved driving dynamics, new headlights and taillights as primary changes for ND3.
Is this the last update for the famed MX-5/Miata before electrification appears for this small yet mighty Mazda?

Would you take the soft top or retractable fastback for the 2024 Mazda MX-5?
I'd buy an ND3 GT if Mazda would offer BRG with a tan or saddle brown leather interior. Keep my NC2 company in our garage!
I owned a 2017 RF, and would buy another one one 🙂👍
@@kajukuja nice!!!
Traded in my 2018 Black RF GT for a 2024 Soul Red soft top GT. I like the RF a lot and still in awe with the retractable roof opening/closing. But somehow it doesn't make me feel like i'm driving a convertible. So, been there, done it. Onto a soft top it is! The soul red ST is absolutely stunning!
@@genzigzag What a cool pair that’d be!!
I love this car but my family refuses to sit in the trunk🤣
Haha!
Leave them home, it’s fun ….
@@BlackNAVYAmericanVET lol
Get a trailer! Haha. I'm looking to buy a miata in the next year and decided a tiny trailer will solve all my woes except a seat belt harness for my dog. I don't have people to worry about though.
The difference between men and boys are the price of their toys…….
Great video. Pulled the trigger.Taking delivery ‘24 aero grey RF GT, sport pkg.on Tuesday May 14! Giddy up!
Nice!!!!! Tag us on socials when you get it :)
Great video, as always with you guys. And thanks for reviewing the SOFT TOP.
Thank you!!
Bought the RF for the looks and top up noise reduction thinking about 50/50 driving time in each configuration (up/down). After a year I find I drive about 70% of the time top down. Looking ahead no difference, huge blind spot though and increased wind noise. That being said, I don’t regret it when I open the garage or walk up to it in a parking lot, RF look so good.
thanks for the very interesting video!
Thanks, Sean!
I enjoyed your video and prop will go with what you have there. Such a fun go-cart and well-built! My 2010 NC is getting tired but still loyal and spry~ May I give you an A..lol WA State fan.
Thanks for the kind words!! We’ll give YOU an A :)
So good to see local Canadian channels putting out great content and doing well! I wish you touched upon the adaptive cruise control with stop n go.. I wonder how that works with a manual transmission vs automatic.
Thank you so much for this great feedback! We really appreciate your support. Re the adaptive cruise, we hope we’re remembering it correctly, but we’re 99% sure it works just like any other adaptive system except you need to monitor it to make sure you don’t let the revs drop too low. So, it would work in 6th down to about 80 km/h and then you’d need to intervene. Hope that helps!
With my 2018 RF and I will do the same with my 2024 ST, I always drive with the top down unless it's raining. It doesn't matter how hot or cold it is. I don't drive the MX-5 in winter so got to make use of every minute of open roof!
Top goes down, fun goes up!
Great video. Would you mind telling me what mics/cam you used?
Canon 6D MKII, Rode wireless GO, GoPro 9. Thanks for the kind words!
I don't get ppl arguing about the blindspot for the RF. It will never match a 'real' convertible since there's literally nothing behind. Just get used to it, as if one is driving a reg car because most of vehicles have structures behind the driver as well.
I just purchased a 2024 GT in Aero Gray. Wireless Android Auto works in my car as well as the touchscreen. I had to enable the touchscreen to work while in motion though. In the states we don't get the ACC with the manual though.
Congrats on the new ride!
Great video! I test drove a 2023 and loved it, but decided to wait for at least the 2024 refresh. it looks like it was worth the wait if i get one this year! Probably aim for a GS-P since it has a great feature package for the price, and I honestly much prefer cloth seats in our hot prairie sun.
I am thinking they will keep this car only for a few years, maybe only into 2026. Even the last refresh of the NC was only a few years. Auto makers are getting pushed hard to turn to hybrid/EV so it will be soon.
Thank you! GS-P is what we'd get. We can see a hybrid MX-5 coming first to ease the transition.
liked their way of describing the new features
Thanks!!
Great review 👍 Jay and Steph!
Great Mazda MX5, this car has aged so beautifully like a nice bottle of wine.
A well made gem of a car.
It has the best manual transmission in the automotive industry. The MX5 pricing also hits the spot and not overpriced like rest of the brands out there. As a whole Mazda is trailing behind Toyota for quality.
Goodbye Nissan, Honda and Subaru…you guys miss the boat. Go back to Japan and retool your branding and quality control.
Thanks, Rocky!!!
This is beautiful, the cx90 purple would be sexy on this car . 🚗
Right?!??
I’m only 6’ but probably twice what I should weigh. I tried to get into one at the auto show a few years ago and I think I pulled everything getting in and out 😂
lol
Now if it was only offered with a 7 seat option, automatic, AWD with 400hp...😅
Lol
Is there a EV ⚡️MX5 coming? NE
Nothing has been confirmed but we'd be very surprised if there was no EV version in the coming years. There's too much history and heritage with the Miata/MX-5.
What a super team. Jay and Steph are a natural match. Great review
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the kind words and support - we appreciate you :)
Are you kidding 20 c is 68 f, I drive mine top down if the temp is over 40 and sunny.
I thought the 2024 has wireless carpay?
Only on the GT trim.
My 2020 with Ohlin coilovers and progress sway bars is every bit as good if not better than the ND3. Even with its steering up date.
The lights were a cost savings as moving the DRL’s into the headlights saved on wiring and extra light in the lower bumper. Save for the rear.
As for the screen on the dash, I would have rather they eliminated that all together.
Unfortunately they missed an opportunity to finally give the wants of most enthusiasts a turbo option.
I feel they would have sold out every other produced, unfortunately this would have started a bidding war and all the dealer markup games.
Those coilovers make a world of difference.
We keep semi-jokingly asking our Mazda Canada rep if MazdaSpeed will ever return.
He entertains our questions and responds with the classic "we cannot comment on future products" and we know that it won't come back.
Appreciate your comments - thank you!
I like the ND2 daytime running lights better. Instead of a column of lights it’s a fake vent.
Debating if I want to do the coilovers and sway bars on my 23 Club.
@@xanderj1492 My friend Leo has a 22 Club. We left the Bilstiens on and change out the springs. I believe they were Progress from Goodwin Racing. We also replaced the front and rear sway bar like I did. And yes, the club is now a much much better car. Id say his road like mine with the Ohlins when I have them at 15 clicks.
I can say you truly would agree after that it transformed the car into a much higher end car feel.
I thinking he spent about $1,000 dollars in total including new adjustable endlinks both front and rear.
@@Bonsai-Miata2020 will keep that in mind. What I’m afraid of is spending a bunch of money and regretting it. Thanks.
Who's buying a 10yr old car when new one is coming next year?
I would never pay 40K for this car. Period.
I bet you have never drove any generation of Miata…..I agree all cars are Too expensive.
Your ICE MX-5 car will be running long after all current and past EVs have gone to the junk yard.
If Mazda electrifies the Miata it will be complete ruined and hopefully no one will buy one.
😐
