  • Top 5 Reasons Not To Buy The BMW X3 M40i
    There are many reasons to buy the BMW X3 M40i from 2019, but there are also a few reasons not to. My latest video explores some of those reasons you'll want to stay away from this car and look at some of its competitors.
    Shop on my Clothing and Merchandise store for the latest Exotic Car Gear: exoticcarplayplace.myshopify....
    The first thing is the start/stop feature. You can turn it off, but the car by default will turn off when you get to a stop light. I'm going to turn it off no matter what.
    The next thing I don't like is under the hood. It's just not a nice engine look.
    The third thing I don't like is rear seat access. The door doesn't open up enough to get in and out of. Although there's enough seating space, getting in and out is a pain.
    The exhaust sound is very quiet, and it's not very exciting. Well, it's not terrible, but it's not the most exciting exhaust on the planet.
    The final (fifth) thing is related to the exhaust tips. However, when you look into the exhaust, it looks cheap and not finished very well.
    Overall, the 2019 #BMW #X3 M40i is a great car. This was a pretty tough list to come up with to be honest.

    1: stop start is not "new", its been in many vehicles for over 10 years, most people are use to it. Sounds like your new to cars ...
    2: small/medium SUV's are all similar in access to the rear seats, Audi is slightly better in room here, but not much better.
    3: rear doors don't open to the same angles of front doors, your new to automotive industry?
    4: who gets around on hands and knees wondering if the tail pipe shrouds are good quality or if they disguise the actually tail pipe enough???
    5: EFB stop/start or AGM stop Start batteries handle repetitive starts, doesn't hurt them
    6: your review is hopeless, your terminology, shaking hands when accelerating, your look like a newbie, if you are great sorry good luck. but i had a laugh at you, so that was good.

    So, the stop and go function does NOT cause "excess wear on the starter." Why? because the starter is beefed up big time, and when they first implemented this back in 2011 on the 5 series, it was one of the first things they covered. I would suspect this is also true for all modern vehicles that use the feature: they have ultra beefed up starters that would shame the starters of old. So no need to worry about that. The incidental upside to this is that, for those of us who turn it off permanently (i did), you basically have a starter that will never die, ever.

    I'm shocked that nobody complains about no physical way to check oil level.
    You could tell so much by pulling out this thing they called the "oil dipstick ", colour and level of oil was very informative.
    I remember checking oil lvl on my 95m3 and noticed coffee colour oil on certain locations, I knew immediately I had antifreeze contamination.
    Instead of expensive engine rebuild I just replaced head gasket.

    Start Stop deactivates years ago on my car- a code at BMW. Done. Rear room very good point. Engine cover? Considering the salt or sand i pulled out of my 3 series in Quebec, I wish my car had that cover, esp for trim detail. Exhaust is a mood point, it can also be adjusted or retuned. The 340i M Performance was obnoxiously whip like in the cabin, as if show off. i want the power but also some quieteness, it is not easy to reconcile quiet interior with exhaust when all these sounds become sound engineered anyway. as for the muffler, yes but then again it can be modified with a noisier type Akrapovich. The beauty of this M40 etc is customization and decades long reliability..

      Who takes a bimmer in a mudhole ? Hahahaha

  • @automotiveocd
    @automotiveocd Před 9 měsíci

    Solutions to the reasons...
    1. Get Bimmercode and just turn it off. At least with German cars you can do that.
    2. Take the plastic engine cover off. Won't matter. Turbocharger is mounted low. Unless you run the Pure800 or some other top mount which relocates the turbo... you won't really see it. Manifold and everything is plastic. There's really nothing to see. It's a modern car. There's no Nelson racing block in it.
    3. Door could open up more. This one is annoying.
    4. Program it to keep the valve open. If still not enough.... change the downpipe and it'll be much louder.
    5. I have no idea what you are talking about with this one. Looks like any other exhaust even on more expensive cars. The specific tailpipe you looked in is the one that has the exhaust valve. The passenger side does not have the valve.

      The technology has not been around long enough to judge its wear and tear yet. I fully expect that it makes it through the first 5 years or so like most technology on a BMW. The question is how it does in the long run. BMW won’t release data on the technology and as most of its cars are leased or traded in and resold as CPO cars its hard to find a large sample size of original owners who have had the technology on their cars for over 5 years.

    I’m sorry. I have never had a negative comment on anyone’s CZcams video...... butttt.... your complaints are absolutely ridiculous. You really had to dig. I’m a bmw technician and I want to see what you had to say about the 30i G01. There have been only 2 problems with this car. Lower active air flaps,,, replaced under new car warranty and a sunroof rattle having to do with the perimeter seal and there is a tsb for that. This suv hands down, exhaust note, looks, performance is top tier in its class.. I feel like you were really digging here. The RDX A-spec or base Macan, maybe even the Genisis GV80 might be the car for you.

    Hey dude! Great as always. Quick question: choosing between the X3 30i and the X3 M40i - is the difference in acceleration worth the extra 10k? I'm not die hard for power but I don't want an engine with no balls either. I can get a 30i X3 with so many crazy features or I can pay more money for an older X3 M40i with half of those features I'd get with the 30i. Kind of stuck in a pickle here

    • @joshs3905
      @joshs3905 Před 2 lety

      With the M40i I'd also be getting a 2019 model which will be out of warranty soon as opposed to a 2021 X3 30i.

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  Před 2 lety +2

      The 2 litre engine is decent for performance but not as silky and not nearly as punchy and I personally would go straight to the 6 just for the feel and go power.

    Do you have any advice or thoughts on optimum wheel size; 19, 20 or 21". I am ordering an M40i for Canada and I want to make a smart choice on the wheel size. Love the idea of 21" but people are suggesting the 19" wheels would be best for a smoother ride without low profile tires. I am not finding any reviewers that discuss this on You Tube. Thanks.

      I have the 21,s and dont regret them at all. Yes a tad bumpy in sport mode but def not annoying. for a comfy ride the put it in Eco mode. This softens the suspension.

    The most concerning of all is the fact the X3 does turn off on its own, really really dislike 👎 . Also, when you turn it off it seems as if the engine is still running, this along with a glitchy infotainment system. These would be my major concerns of the X3. Other than that the engine performs top tier as well as trans being tip top.
