  • Hey there scooter enthusiasts! Welcome to Scooter Street! In this exciting video, we're going to take you through an exhaust fitting and de-restriction guide for the Piaggio Typhoon. Get ready to unleash the full potential of your ride!
    We kick things off by showcasing the parts we'll be working on, including the exhaust and ECU. We guide you through the process of disconnecting the exhaust and making the necessary modifications to the ECU. We also delve into the transmission, clutch, and variator, providing tips and tricks along the way.
    Next, we demonstrate how to prepare the exhaust before installation, ensuring all nuts and bolts are securely in place. We highlight the importance of proper positioning and tensioning for optimal performance.
    As we assemble everything, we explain the reasoning behind our pen marks, making it easy to identify any loosened parts during visual inspections. Moving on, we discuss the emissions box and provide insights into how we enhance the airflow for better exhaust performance.
    We then shift our focus to the carburetor and discuss the importance of checking the manifold, Reed valve, and Reed pedals for any cracks or damage. We guide you through fitting the exhaust body and adjusting the spacing for a perfect fit.
    Get ready to unleash the full potential of your Piaggio Typhoon and experience the thrill of a high-performance ride. Let's hit the road and leave the competition in the dust! Please visit www.scooterstreet.com.au to view all the parts used in this video.

    Very nice typhoon, and the exhaust is very pretty! I have a question - so, I have a 1st Gen. Zip, it has an brand new airsal sport 50cc ac cylinder, leovince TT handmade without restrictions, straight intake, carbon reeds, twin air filter. I bought a brand new Motoforce PHVA 17,5mm, and only ran like it should with a 58 main jet, spark plug was coffee brown, but also had a lot of problems like starting, keeping idle, top end was stuttering. Tried a 62 main jet, and the plug was straight wet and all black. But, when I tried a Polini CP 17,5mm carb, with an 83 main jet, which it still has, its running a bit lean, but also every other carb problem i had before dissapeared. Maybe you have any clue what has happened? Where would most likely the problem be?

    • @scooterstreetau
      @scooterstreetau  Před rokem +3

      That does sound unusual, we have had some issues with the needle position on the standard carby but with your issue I would lean more toward a faulty auto Choke (enrichener). If you heat/cool test it you will find it is not closing/opening correctly.

    I will ask u one more opinion. Im heavy person 115kg and living in town with lots of uphill-downhill roads. My Piaggio Typhoon with current setup is a bit struggle on hills so I decided last , 70cc investments.
    Setup should be:
    Piaggio Typhoon 2T - AC (2011)
    *Exhaust Mallosi Wild Lion
    *Malossi 70cc cast iron sport kit
    * Mallosi Multivar 2000 +7.2gr rollers
    * Dellorto 17.5 PHVA with 80 main jet for start
    * Clutch Bell Mallosi wing bell ( im scared for oem overheating )
    * Oem clutch with oem springs
    * Torque Spring Mallosi Purple
    * Oem Belt
    I wonder will this setup ok, ( aka rollers, springs, jet) regarding im 115kg and I cant afford some better exhaust for now...
    Im not interested to be fastest, i dont care for top speed. I just wanna solid start, better power, peacefull uphill driving, so i will not be a obstacle on road....😂
    Thank you for response.....

    • @scooterstreetau
      @scooterstreetau  Před rokem +1

      The set up sounds fine as a base, once you are ridding only then will you find out the results of the hill climbing ability. The solution will be: a correctly tuned carby and a gearing set up where the rear pulley effectively reduces the gearing as the rpm lowers. So medium weighted rollers with a overcoming Torque spring. The purple may not be ideal as it is a short spring in length, a longer spring with slightly higher tension than OEM.

    • @scooterstreetau
      @scooterstreetau  Před rokem +1

      For the clutch set up, try for a Polini G3 adjustable clutch and the bell an MHR clutch bell or Polini Speed Bell Evo, these have larger cooling holes/vents to factor in concerns regarding over heating.

      @@scooterstreetau Hey Guys, So I installed the Malossi Sport 70cc kit today. Started perfect and ran great although when I left it to idle to get warm I noticed there was coolant which seemed to be leaking between the cylinder and cylinder head. Only a very small amount. So I turned off the bike straight away.
      I'm not sure how this happened as it's a brand new kit with new gaskets.
      I tightened the nuts in a star pattern but not to the correct torque as I don't have a torque wrench, I just did it as tight as I could being mindful not to strip the bolts, could it be this?
      I also presume I'd need a new gasket set now as the paper base gasket has already been compressed?
      Last thing... I also lightly dipped my finger into two stroke oil and applied a thin layer to the piston gasket and coolant gasket as I thought it seals better but now I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't have done that with the coolant gasket on the outside?
      Just wanted to check I'd done everything right, any help is most appreciated :) Cheers chaps.

      There is no solid answer, it is not a square block in a square hole. It MUST be tuned to suit, all of our videos are about TUNING to SUIT. IT MUST BE TUNED AND TESTED. I would start rich and then come down from there. @@jari887

      We discuss at 12:10 - 13:14. This is the top speed for me weighing 85kgs on a flat road, no descent or wind advantage.

    I'm not sure you know better that the engineers at malossi. The restrictor you removed from the Ex header was most likely a venturi - this adds power.

      A venturi is the slim part of a carburettor? It's necessary for the Carb to function. It can not be removed as it is the Carb essentially, I suppose it does add power as without a venturi the bike wouldn't run at all?
      The pipe they disabled on the Carb is called a solenoid, it's there to make the bike run lean for Euro 4 emissions and the ECU controls this in order to restrict the bikes power so is necessary to remove. I presume this is what you mean but your comment doesn't make much sense to me.

      Josh, you are too funny😂 a venturi, stop it, I know your having a joke😂 Everyone knows it is a restrictor cone. There are hundreds of videos on CZcams showing how to derestrict the restricted exhausts. It must be removed to increase air flow..
