- Quickly and easily sculpt folds by reducing everything to letters! Paint, mask, inflate, distinguish! That's all there is to it.~ Book: tinyurl.com/noC... Patreon: / mikejkelley
Okay so basically its painting and not masking? I also found the deform settings so I was able to get more done. This tutorial helped a lot. Now its just figuring out how to best utilize those x y and z folds! I subscribed your tutorial is awesome
Yea, But is it painting or masking? And why is nobody answering? :c
You can call it both painting and masking.
@@Hshdjdjdhd he PAINTS a MASK.
This is the definition of a good tutorial. straight to the point filled with easily to digest info. Thank you.
Really need to be commended for how you've packed a lot of important information into such a short video here
It doesn't matter whether you are master sculptor or a novice, this video has excellent tips.
Phenomenal advice man, i've been in the sculpting game for aprox 4 years now and could never wrap my head around cloth folds and wrinkles.
'XYZ' concept is awesom!.. super tutorial! thanks for this... so much.
holy shit, you can't imagine how many hours of tedious work your 3 minute long video safed me. thank you!
delicious! Used your technique in blender sculpting. works like a charm. Most effective 3 minutes in folds tutorials. Thank you very much.
Best instructional video I've seen. A+. You should make a video on how to make technical videos as well. CZcams needs it.
BedStuyBro Thanks! I think I'll do that (as soon as I get over my latest bout w/ GvHD)! :)
OMG this is such an awesome technique
Just used this technique in Blender sculpting and the results are awesome. Thanks!.
Wish more instructors would do this. I've paid for gnomon/pluralsight and rarely do professional instructors conceptually breaking things down and explain the broader ideas behind techniques.
Most tutorials just tell us to mindlessly go through the motions of "Do A, B, then C".
Thanks!
Thanks for this. This is genius tip still 6 years later.
That’s really helpful, I’m also going to use the x,y,z folds in my drawing from now on
This is super helpful! I'm not a digital sculpter, but I've been struggling to make decent folds with clay, and visualizing it like a series of stripes with criss-crossing x's and y's helps, even if I don't have access to the same tools
Thank you for this, I really like the simplicity yet great tips
I never learned so much useful stuff in such a small amount of time!
Amazing video!!!
Thanks a lot. Very handy and this technique can be evolved further I believe with a lot of different tool combinations. Appreciate it!
Why didn't I find this video a year ago!?!? So much useful info condensed into 3 minutes!
Very interesting techniques and tips. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, that's a brilliant method, thanks for sharing with us!
A great tutorial in short time
Thanks for that
This is an ingenious idea and theory! Thank you so much!
So simple and informative. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Thanks for all the likes! I'll be releasing a timelapse video of the flightsuit creation from this point all the way to the point of being imported ingame. Subscribe so that you don't miss it! :)
Shortly there after I'll be uploading a public beta of Rocketbelt Timetrials 1983 (google/android VR) to itch.io. Check it out and leave me some feedback, thanks!
simple and effective what more could you ask for.
MARVELOUS DESIGNER?
period king
Great technique! Thank you so much!
This is an awesome tutorial!
Ryan Kingslein is my hero.

very rational. Thenk you!
Freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice
you really decoded it to fundament!
oh nice!
brilliant
How do you paint instead of paint a mask, or is that just the specific brush you use? Seems in the video like you turn the paint into a mask. That would be great the mask tools are never precise
Sorry for the late reply, I've been very sick. In zbrush you can use just about any brush to paint. Simply disable its height properties (Zadd/Zsub) and activate either Mrgb (for materials + color), or Rgb (for colors only) along/near the top.
One other question. Whats the best way to do folds in the croth area? I tried looking at various folds for pants but can't seem to start them right? Would you reccomend x y or z folds for those?
Xs radiating out from the middle of the crotch.
Wow this is very good thanks.
Thanks! Now that I'm feeling a little better I'm planning more short-form tutorials (mostly gamedev). Please consider subscribing and spreading the word!
Are you going to give tutorials related to modeling?
Both sculpting and traditional box modeling.
I don't feel super qualified to do too many artistic tutorials, most of my zbrush tutorials will relate to technical aspects. I hardly ever do box modeling anymore.
Well I mainly do that kinda stuff though.
Will give it a try anyway.
The start to finish video is now up! czcams.com/video/UgZr9FCjFuE/video.html
Хуи,- на русском легко запомнить ! ))
It's always the same. A "tutorial" that is at least five years old, timelapsed, and absolutely no thorough and detailed explanation which gudes the beginner through the process step-by-step.
