The Reality Behind Job Referrals

Here’s the template you can use for cold referral:
“Hi __, hope you’re having a great week so far! I’m a [job title] with __ years of experience in [domain knowledge, tech stack, industry]. In addition, [list out 1-3 major accomplishments or experiences in bullet points, keep it extremely short]. I believe I’m a great fit for [role at their company]. My resume is attached. Are you open to referring me to the position?”
I recommend checking out @avnibarman_ and @kproductmanager for more tips. They are experts at cold messaging!
The more relevant years of experience to the role, the more likes you’ll hear back. That’s why if you’re trying to do this for your first job, it will be extremely hard to get a cold referral bc many other people have more years of relevant experience than you.
Now you know why warm intros are so important! That’s why I keep saying you need to go out and network. Doesn’t matter where you live, there will be online and in-person events to attend, even if you have to fly.
