Most municipalities (Sumter county, Marion, Lake etc) have alerts that you can sign up for on their websites thus alerting your phones of hurricane, tornado and other bad weather alerts.

Jerry & Linda we visited in early May to Spanish Springs area. On my walks I loved the incredible landscapes and trees. One tree reminded me of the large Rhododendron bushes in Maine. But they were on these humungous trees! Another stunning display are the Spanish Moss trees. The draping of the moss is a sight to see. We noted all the new apts everywhere too. Whatever you decide to bring in changes to the channel, that works for you both, is fine👍

As someone else mentioned, partner with one of the pet rescue groups in The Villages area and maybe twice a month, do a feature on "adoptable pet of the week". Maybe a dog or cat foster parent could send you a one minute video featuring the dog or cat they are fostering. Might lead to a pet getting a furrever home.
I’ve been watching for a while and I just love how grounded y’all are in who you are. You don’t let the negative comments affect you at all, not one bit. It always gives me a smile when you put out the salty comment with such ease and let it roll off your back and carry on. Y’all are great, keep up the good work!!

I live in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona🌵. During Covid, every wealthy Californian bought a place here😳. We had less rules & a cheaper cost of living. My daughter & family live in Tampa area & love it. I deal with chronic pain & the humidity there makes my pain worse - I like a “dry heat🔥”.

I enjoyed today's video. Keep doing what you're doing...enjoying life and taking us all with you along the journey. The new pet part is something to look forward to in future episodes. We just lost our fur baby; it has been a real adjustment not having her around to take care of and to have as a constant companion. Linda actually met our yorkie when we were able to pick up some of her cactus cutting last summer.

Love the idea of the Pet of the Week.
I think it would be so awesome if you could have a Shelter Pet of the Week or Shelter Pet of the Month to help adopt out some of the fur babies stuck in shelters. My husband and I have two little rescue dogs which we love and are truly a part of our family.

Hello Jerry and Linda. Thank you for another great show. I do agree there are a lot of apartments going up and I often wonder how much added weight the ground in Florida is experiencing with all the building, especially all the apartments popping up. Awhile back I asked a town official how much weight the ground can hold (thinking they run some kind of testing about this before building). His answer: "We don't know."

Look up on how the batteries for Electric vehicles are made, its a filthy process, and notice the EV companies are folding up quick,, sales are down, Maybe in 10 to 20 years when they figure out how to make them cheeper, cleaner and extend the range, they will become popular again.

I'm in Austin, Texas and we have tornado watches and warnings, but I've never heard a siren here. Like you, I pay attention to the news and radio and I'm also registered for text alerts from my city and county. I also have several Amazon Echos in my home and they alert me to bad weather.
Austin has also been the number one city people were moving to - for years. And it's difficult. Our city decided that if they did NOT build it, people would not come - a reverse Field of Dreams. Unfortunately that was not true and people kept coming, but the city refused to build up the infrastructure to support the growth. Property prices increased rapidly, pricing many native Austinites out of the city and causing suburban sprawl. It seems like the people running TV are doing a good job of balancing growth and construction.
We sure hope so!

Guys - for the absolute best results, cut the Myrtle at an angle. 45 degrees is perfect and better than just cutting a flat horizontal cut.
Great tip! I will have to go out and see if hours were cut on that angle. It has sure grown back beautifully.

I really like to old format, Mailbag Monday and Out and About Thursday. And today's length was great. I call it 'one cup of coffee' long. But I know it is time consuming to do two shows and let's face it, you are not in TV to entertain us every week. Do what you want to do, that is right for you and get out and enjoy yourselves or stay home and enjoy yourselves. Your viewers will adjust as well. Hi Jerry and Linda. I agree with you about the electric vehicles. I believe in a gas vehicle it’s the best way to get around. Electric vehicles are not reliable and the cost to replace batteries are not affordable to most. Always enjoy all your shows.

Jerry, let me tell you from experiance, as you grow older you'll find more and more foods that will make you belch. and It's not just limited to men. My mother-in-law experienced the same thing when she lived with my wife and me before she passed on. Growing old has its downsides, but its better (so far) than the alternative.

Hi Jerry and (G)linda, you are the Good Witch of the South, so no worries about what happened on this day in history. Jerry, in many places a hearty burp compliments a good meal. I think everyone should be concerned with unrestricted apartment dwellings in TV and surrounding areas as overcrowding could become more of an issue at the Squares. I wonder about the next group to retire after boomers. Will they have the pensions and sale of properties elsewhere to buy the higher priced homes in TV. Solved the scramble. People liked the restoration. Jerry, I noticed you had a Diet Dr. Pepper with your Gen Tso meal. Did you hear that Dr Pepper became the #2 soda behind Coke, replacing Pepsi?
That was the only diet they had. Sort of taste like prune juice to me. I will take that Pepsi Zero over any of the others.

You missed the point on “best golf courses” …
Although I, too, like all the courses you mentioned (Bonifay, Evans Prairie, Belle Glade … and don’t forget Southern Oaks), but … the answer is:
They are ALL great.
Seriously, the Villages golf courses are ALL very nice. Well maintained, great greens, nice layouts.
And regarding furniture, we furnished almost our entire home from: Ashley furniture (Babettes & City are pretty expensive), Almost Perfect (a HUGE furniture consignment store in Summerfield), and ESTATE SALES. you can find some great things at estate sales, both inside & outside the bubble … almost every day there are estate sales published in the Daily Sun. Point is, you can furnish your home quite affordable (our up North furniture didn’t work in central Florida)
the Bubble Wrap this week was great. I didn’t check the air in my golf cart tires for months, but was shocked when I did. Rode much better after I filled with my Ryobi air pump.

Most of Florida's electricity comes from natural gas, some of it comes from coal, some from burning trash. So, the electric carts are essentially mostly running on natural gas. Natural gas burns cleaner than gasoline, but it's not like you're running it at zero emissions. It's not really saving the environment and we're not even discussing the impact of cobalt, lithium, and nickel mining for the batteries for an electric cart.
Middleton will have apartments on site built by the developer. They're going to be kinda-sorta by the North part nearest the prison.
I don’t disagree and being totally honest I might even drive a gas cart today(heck I drove a gas guzzler to work today). But the fact is right now 30% of ALL electric produced in the USA is from natural resources(water, wind, solar) and that number will 50% in another 15-years or so. As far as environmental damage caused in the production, I don’t have statistics, but I imagine either source is equally destructive. Batteries can be recycled and programs exist today for that purpose. I guess my point is that it’s shortsighted to not move to electric. Oil is dead as we once knew it -the world is moving into a new source. This is clearly evident by looking at how Big Oil in the US and countries in the Middle East have been diversifying away from “black gold.” The answer to the cold temp problem is that innovation is moving quickly …batteries are getting smaller and becoming more functional in cold weather. The farmer with horses never thought the auto would ever get to a reliable point either 😂
@@GAN-0 solar and wind have their own problems on the horizon. Solar panels are full of toxic chemicals & metals and can't be recycled. Wind turbines also can't be recycled. There are massive landfills just filled with old wind turbine blades that morning can be done with. As solar grows, we are going to have a huge problem disposing of old panels. The only actual answer is nuclear, but the oil folks don't want that, and the green energy folks don't want that either.
