Those and more are answered in todays episode. You'll want to stay until the end for a particularly touching segment from Gizmo.

I too worry about being so close. Having a few acres of land now, I am also tired of maintaining it.I Can't wait to get rid of tractors, chain saws , snow mobiles, snow plows, roto tillers! I just want a small place for a flower garden and to have my morning coffee . And maybe a pool, a pool would be nice!

Before changing out grass at your villa, check with Community Standards to make sure you are allowed to do so. Also check with CS before you purchase a villa with all stone to be sure the property is in compliance.

As to storm shelters, I would add that while tornadoes do happen in Florida, they are far less common than in places like Kansas. I've lived in Florida for 17 years and I only remember one in my area during that time.

My little long-haired dachshund Coco loves Gizmo! About the concerns of not having a basement for storm protection; Coming from the Midwest we had much bigger and more powerful tornadoes, like F2, F3, F4 ratings. Florida rarely ever gets anything more than an F1 tornado, so not as much of a concern at least for me.

Wish I had Linda as my kindergarten teacher!!! I am sure she would have been more fun than the kindergarten teacher I had which was Sister Josephine who was all business. Despite being all business, Sister J was very gifted at being able to motivate her students to learn. My older sister also had Sister J as a kindergarten teacher and for a couple of her elementary grades which was common in Catholic schools back then for the sisters to teach multiple grades. And it was Sister J who was the inspiration for my sister and 6 of her former K-8 classmates that are still close friends to this day to become teachers. No doubt you both must have in a very good way touched the lives of many of your former students.

On golf carts, I might recommend buying used up north before coming down and hauling it to Florida. That's what we did. We bought a very nice used Club Car in Iowa for $1800 (the owner didn't know what he had and advertised it LOW) and hauled it to Florida on a trailer. We added updated wheels, tires, and a rear flip seat for less than another $1000 and have a very nice cart for under $3000. We couldn't have touched it in Florida for that price.

I've been thoroughly enjoying your videos for more than a year now. You do such a great job of conveying your personal life experiences to your audience that I actually started feeling like you were one of my neighbors. So I guess my curiosity finally got the best of me and I started wondering if there was a last name to go with Jerry and Linda. It only took me a few clicks to come up with it, but I was just wondering if you leave it out intentionally (for privacy concerns) or if you just like being known as "Jerry and Linda". You have become such an ambassador for The Villages, I can't imagine that you can go anywhere down there without being instantly recognized. I know it's the price for stardom in retirement, but I just wanted you to both know how much we all appreciate your efforts and please keep up the great work!

Thanks, Bill... you nailed it. We really enjoy meeting viewers, but not unannounced at our door. 😁
