I hope you got the electric over hydraulic disk brakes. I trailer often in the 30k Gross range and think they are a must man they work so much better than the regular electrics. We have been running the Aisin medium dutys at work for several years and grossing in the 40K range and no issues.
Great content! Six in a row, built to tow! Using the truck for exactly what it was designed to do. Love how much space the megacab has. Thanks for sharing and thank your wife and kids for going along, good to get some family time while entertaining us.
Nice truck. Make sure to constantly check the welds on that Big Tex, and the wiring routed through access holes. 2 biggest and constant issues with Big Tex trailers.
this video is awesome. the updates for each section were good to see for anyone looking to purchase a newer ram. i mean egt temps stayed below 1k which is pretty impressive with the trailer and truck on the back. My previous 03 F250 7.3 always saw about 1400 when loaded, and this was a small 18ft hitch trailer and car on it. i'm excited to see how my 12 6.7 cummins does with a gooseneck.
Love the road trips mate. Coming from Australia it’s always nice to see the scenery and vehicles from another country. Keep up the great content and love the channel!
I'd suggest coating the wood deck with new or used motor or ATF oil. I did 3 coats in 24 hours, 18 months later wood is still in perfect condition (except the few forklift operator oops marks). I'm out of Arizona, tge sun & heat will destroy that wood, oil is the best option. FYI, I have a '19 HO Cummins Aisin 3500 pulling 44' 30K trailer. I average just under 8 mpg loaded, 12.5 empty.
Awesome setup man! This is honestly a dream of mine. Just working on trucks, racing, having a blast with family and friends right there with you. Much respect man
Very nice tow rig. The fuel economy is not great, especially at 75 mph. Have you tried slowing back to 50 -55 and observe what the fuel consumption is at that speed. Remember drag is quadrupled as the speed is doubled. My 02 Dodge Ram HO get well into the 20's at 50 - 55 (I've gotten up to 26 mpg empty @ 45 mph) but drops like a Simonized piano at 75 mph to about 12 - 14 empty.
I agree unloaded it's not the best but like I told you when you load it down it just wants to work. Not only does it want to work it just keeps asking for more.
Great trip I have a 2018 dodge ram 3500 and I love that truck I have it setup the way I wanted I could have got a 5th Gen ram but I wanted to transfer all of my goody that I had on my 2017 2500.
My company truck is an 18 3500 road service truck load at 16-18k at all times has 215k and climbing. Average is 12mpg shes a little crazy in inclimate weather but it doesnt know stop (unless its fuel time)
Some 5th gen cummins has high output engine are expensive. You know what I think the ram will be excellent to buy the 5th gen cummins with 68RFE transmission. The 68RFE are good transmission except the RAM 3500 will use 68RFE too.
That's an impressive tow rig . If I were to buy a truck with a automatic and I don't think the newer trucks have a standard transmission I would want a Asian transmission over the other choice . I was told that it was a close copy to a Allison no idea if that's true . The fuel economy you got at those speeds was pretty impressive . The e brake is a great also . Truck has a lot of nice features also. I know you have a lot of experience but one thing I like to carry in the back of my truck is a can of anti. seize .
Freaking ads...."im so glad glad I got the ram, it just handles the weight so much better" ford ad immediately after...."looking for a truck to get the work done? Super duty" 🤦♂️🤣
Wd40 that ball and hooks whenever you put it in. If you leave them in for an extended period of time they will get stuck and its a pain to get the ball out
@@horsetorquesdieselI guess i asked for that. Np. Too late. Im running away from all the CA people. They know about Utah also. I erased my first comment. Adaptive cruise control and braking almost caused a huge accident in my rig. It is very dangerous. I get very angry when i hear that option. I don't do social media very well. Sorry.
Josh you have a rig to be very proud of it looks awesome I'm surprised with your comment on the Exhaust brake my son has a 2020 2500 and the exhaust brake is Pathetic towing his RV in the mountains in the Virginia's it was pretty much useless Great job taking the family with you As always God bless you and your family and stay safe out there 🙋♂️🇬🇧
The ball hitch is the most ignorant idea I have ever seen for gooseneck ball hitch. Who the heck wants to operate the little lever on the ball head, when it’s supposed to the be covered in grease? Love you video though. Thank you for sharing this with us. 👍
I watched your last road trip with the 1300hp truck getting 18-20mpg with a truck on the trailer also. How can it be that your stock truck gets 10-15mpg? Beautiful truck just crank it up!
Make sure your trailer brake settings are correct (using radio head unit). I assume (hope) you have at least electric over hydraulic brakes for that trailer. I went through front pads at 40K because I didn't adjust the Ram settings. Just trying to help out
Best way to break in your new truck!!!! Make the old girl sweat a bit. It’s the people who never hook a trailer to a diesel that have issues with the emissions system.
What did you run for a monitor in your 11? Just purchased one and would like to get some sort of monitor to watch everything. Truck already has efi tunes
Did ya have any issues with the hub seals leaking on the 16? I have all sorts of issues out of the oil bath style. I converted to grease but I think they make upgraded aftermarket seals. Something to look into if you run across issues.

No I’d rather go 75-80mph and get worse mileage, maybe when I go through California I can try it. 55 in a 75-80 is dangerous for everyone
45 is way too slow man that's not relatively safe when people are going 65

Not sure if you plan on deleting the truck but coolant temps drop significantly while towing and mpgs go up as well after delete. Highly recommend.
