Clear, efficient, and not a snake oil hype video. Thanks DMS!
0:25 ifi IE-Match
1:05 Questyle M15
1:43 Woo Phantom DAC
2:27 ZMF Crescent Snap
2:58 Samson Meteor
thank you! this should have been in the description of the video tbh..
iFi Match is a cool piece of equipment. My only qualms are 1) I think I bought the last one they had available at the time and I don't know if they have restocked, and 2) Using it, especially at the lowest volume switch, will make some details go missing from audio, even if you turn the volume up. It's worth mentioning (if you already didn't, I didn't hear it mentioned), that it is for a 4.4mm balanced connection only (or at least the one I bought is, maybe they make a 3.5mm one?).
@@Ericxx-yx4rk Sorry, I'm new to audio. I have the Audient Evo 4 audio interface and the headphone impedance output is 22 ohms, while my Letshuoer S12 Pro IEM is 16 ohms. When plugged straight into the audio interface, it sounds louder but less detailed. It sounds better plugged into my laptop. And I found out that it's because the impedance output is too high for my IEM. So will the iFi IE-Match help me fix this issue? If I'm wrong, please educate me!
@dms that usb mic (samson meteor) is PERFECT for my needs, and sounds great (proof: your video above), one thing i'd have them change is to make that shitty mini-usb plug actually usb-c (YOU LISTENING SAMSON? no pun intended) - desperately needed one for my "new gaming headset" (ananda stealth) which does not come with a mic - a huge shout out to you dms for bringing it to my attention, 32 bux, delivery today (same day) from amazon (you should post a link to get paid for it, no doubt), AND a mute button - perfection! DMS my man, bring more content like this. you 0wn. (OH one thing i forgot - i could use a set of "six nines" copper / silver plated cables for the ananda stealth, the rubber crap they come with is, well, crap. post some links bro!) love your content, subbed a while back. one more thing, now that i'm droning, your hoodie, i'd get one if it was a full zip - and a light color, white, gray, etc. - just make sure when you source it, it's not some cheap ass shit - kindly source a nice thick ass zipped hoodie. i'll buy it.
The questyle is 200 USD, wow, that hurts
A massively underrated thing are the MMCX removal assistant tools, for if you're ever having to change cables. MMCX can be terrible for that.
good call! I'll write that down for next time I make one of these vids
True! I did broke the MMCX in Fiios due to not knowing there should be a tool...
Not having affiliate links is actually very inconvenient cuz I went to the bio to buy the dac and couldn’t find it 😭 let me support you by being lazy!!!
Qudelix 5k was the best audio purchase ever. The amount of control you get through the app is amazing. And with frequent free software updates the functionality doubled from the moment I bought it. If it ever breaks I will immediately order a new one.
Love the short but sweet video and that microphone sounds awesome especially for how small/portable it is!
I’ve been using the meteor mic for almost a decade, it’s a brilliant little nugget and sounds so much better than dare I say blue mics
Same. Used it for remote teaching during Covid, but found it records guitar very nicely as well. +1.
I had one years ago, it was ok, but brokedown like 1 year ago, I bought a Blue snowball in offer, and It sounds better, but not by much
Same!! Ive had mine for about 8 years and is still running good
I have had one since I started voice acting and man it is such a reliable nugget
I just wanted to say you’re the reason I got into the whole audio scene used to have gaming branded stuff now I have studio monitor and orther in ear monitor and these works better than all the gaming thing I tried, thanks for the videos man ❤
This was an awesome way to break up all the long-form content I'm used to. One of these every now and then is great! ❤
I was just in need for a mic like this. Thanks!
The epitome of precision and conciseness! 😊 Thanks.
Just purchased the M15, seems to have saved a pair of my cans, and would also recommend the RU6, nice smooth R2R sound. 2:45
Loving the style of video. Short, refreshing, to the point, and useful. No ten minute long crap filled video that feels like an essay that has to be 3000 words, but you only got 1000.
Thanks a lot DMS, I liked the headphone attachment for comfort and questyle m15 is already on my wishlist.
What a cool bunch of gadgets, that mic surprised me!
Got that mic…but plan on getting the dac cable for sure…TY for the hard work bringing us your content…😊
DMS!, Thank you very much!
The MIC sounds great!
Howdy, excited for the Questyle day/amp review. I use the btr3 daily and have been interested in upgrading to better audio on-the-go. If you could compare the two dac/amps, I'd super appreciate it!
I may have to get that mic, it sounds phenomenal! As for cool gear, thoughts on the FiiO BTR series? I don't think I'd call them "underrated" as they're pretty well known, but they're fantastic for EDC. BTR5 + Meze 99s with a balanced cable has been my daily driver for when I'm out of the house years now and I love it.
fiio + moondrps = eargasm
I've got two of the ZMF Cresent Snap headbands for my focals. Stops the hot spot! The IEMatch is invaluable if you have an IEM collection and say... a Woo Audio Tube Mini dongle :D
Wow 🤩! I actually found 3 things from this video that’d make my audio listening etc much better for me 🥳🥰💪. I’m not a heavily invested audiophile, but I like my music and gaming and I have a more budget friendly dac / amp for my music, another for my pc, some nice and not pricey, IEMs and a couple nice headphones for different purposes (mentioned here). As a person who can’t wear headphones for more than 2-3D hours at a time, from headaches from the headphone headbands, the seperate add on headband cushion is an instant win for me 😇
microphone sounds fantastic
let's stay
Once he put it on the table I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't a good sound when it was close to his mouth, but at a decent distance it was clear and what i assume to be accurate
I use the ZMF snap on my DT177X go along with Ori Hybrid pads. My music sounds more musical. Every electron is perfectly aligned. 11/10
Great video
Good stuff 🔥🙌
I used to use my IE-Match with my FiiO BTR5 with my Andromeda S and Andromeda Gold. Made the volume much more granular and usable
I nave the microphone! :) Bought It a few years ago, good choice :)
I have over 10 DAC dongles and the M15 trounces them all. Fantastic value.
Can you compare it to the Cayin RU6? (I own that one, and it HAS become my desktop dac).
awesome vid. I have started investing in audio hardware thanks to you and I gotta say that it changed my everyday life (mostly because I am working from home, and it's far better to have good mic+amp+headphones combo on calls)
I've had a meteor mic for years and they're great. You can put a cheap foam mic cover on them too, if you need a bit of a pop filter.
You should make playlists for your vids like this
Nice..Please make a review and measurement of Arya Organic!
Unfortunately i don't need any of these. All i have is a cheap iem right now. But i'll save it for future. Thank you.🙏
I found Audio Bluetooth dac for $9 and surprisingly it's actually works, I only can use it on low power IEMs but the fact I can walk around without wires listening to music and CZcams videos was very useful.
the Audio quality noticeable not good as directly connected to wire but for that price I was surprise it wasn't fake.
Wow that Samson meteor microphoen, had a really good sound to it :)
I have the iFi IE Match+. It’s a very good piece of gear. I got it for my iFi Uno dac/amp because its volume is not very linear, especially for IEMs. One of my IEMs is the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite which are pretty sensitive and plugging in the Match really lets me feed much more voltage which really opens up the sound.
There are two sensitivity settings for the Match: High and Ultra. High reduces the signal by -12db and Ultra reduces it by -24db. Personally, I wish it was -6db for High and -12db for Ultra. -12db is plenty of reduction which can really let you crank up the volume but I can’t imagine any IEMs out there that would need -24db. Anyway, the Match is better than say, an impedance adapter, which works by reducing the analog signal. The Match reduces the signal at the digital level which means the analog signal is unaltered and therefore, able to give you its full sonic characteristics.
Definitely a worthy purchase.
I owned and used the samson meteor for a few years back a few years ago. It ended quitting it after I moved very haphazardly a few years back but for my purposes of just simple videos and gaming it worked very well and sounded decent.
I have been thinking about getting that ZMF headband cover for my hd800s as well. I'm glad it got your stamp of approval now I can pull the trigger! have you tried the hd800s pads ZMF makes?
Got an M15. It pairs well with 7Hz Timeless off my phone and good enough with Edition XS off my PC. Saves on space and will do just fine until I upgrade both portable and home gear.
That mic and headband strap will be very useful for me. Mic on the go, and a headband that can be replaced and maybe even be cleaned by washing? Keeps the headband without any smell. Thanks!

Nice. Thanks. 😊 🎉
I use the Ifi IEmatch for using my sensitive headphones with my tube amplifier. I just bought a second one.
Absolutely agree on the M15, it's replaced most of my desktop setups. I actually prefer it to the Mojo2 for some headphones. It's a powerhouse of a dongle, sound is plenty clear, full, and extended as well.
With which headphones do you prefer it over the Mojo 2? I use it with 7Hz Timeless and Hifiman Edition XS but I heard it does better on high impedance headphones so I bought a pair of Koss/Drop KSC75X (60Ω) and I'm going to do a removable MMCX or two-pin cable mod.
@@SpirallingOut with the M15 I like the HiFiMan HE1000se, Meze 109 pro, and, of all things, the t60rp Argons. I do prefer the Mojo 2 with my Liric and my ZMFs, mostly because the Mojo 2 lets me add a bass or treble shelf to taste. Haven't really had driveability issue with either device, but in terms of strong synergies, I love the HEKse on the M15 and the Auteur Classic on the Mojo 2.
A type-C DAC/amp for smartphone suggestions can be really nice in the future
Hopefully dms might consider making a video about the woo audio tube mini portable amp. I been looking for a portable tube amp for my android devices and for my fiio m11 dap. I use the fiio k3 connected to my fiio m11 with my sennheiser hd 600 when traveling by the bus, walking around and running errands.
I will add the quilelix 5k to the list. Continue to be impressed and more so trying it's balanced output. This should not not drive my lcd4. And audeze eq settings are great and the Bluetooth has allowed me to take out my full sized audeze lcd x 2021 for walks. I get some looks but not as many as I thought .
My old Clip Zip died so I need a cheap DAP that sounds good. Emphasis on cheap. Maybe with FM, maybe works with Rockbox.
the iFi IE-Match is a good product. The PHANTOM DAC cable is immensely convenient and sounds good.
That iFi IEM impedance matcher looks like a game changer…
audio mastering on this video is very nice..
ifi ie match is useful for sensitive iem's that pick up a buzzing humming sound
Have you tried the mojo 2 and ru7 with the HD800S? I've been looking for a dac/amp with good synergy with the HD800S. btw, what cable is that on the 800s?
I have the Samson microphone and can confirm it’s excellent quality for the price. It also works as a DAC.
I use a Moonriver 2 DAC amp all of the time. It’s very convenient
Very interesting choices and definetly fun little things to show off. Nothing all to expensive either, which is fitting for this kind of video imo, because if the items were more expensive i'd like to get more of a review on them.
I'd like to add that the samson meteor mic may not be the best choice concerning sound Quality at it's price point, but if one considers it's ruggedness a major benefit, then the sound quality suffices. Rather than just focussing on this specific mic, i would recommend just looking into cheap microphones in general. Even 30$ can get you pretty far and don't break the bank. As audiophiles we should at least produce halfway decent sound ourselves, if we're that picky about hearing what other people produce, i think.
I mostly use the meteor mic when traveling. It’s great for an on-the-go voice over, but agreed at a stationary desktop you can get pretty far for cheap.
The Samson meteor single handedly got me through COVID. Great cheap mic. Just know that plugging it in also automatically switches your output to the headphone jack in the mic, so you'll have to adjust that
DMS can you do a video of budget speakers but not active ones ?
That Crescent Snap, looks a lot better than the Pilot Pad. I’ll look into that.
The best value in audio might be the DIY Audio Whammy kit for $300. My favorite solid state amp I've heard. Especially with sparkos pro opamp added.
^^^ This. It's amazing.
That Samson mic is surprisingly decent sounding.
Can you share best budget sepakers for movies.
and Wireless headphones PLEASE
Been wanting the IE match 4.4 but they’re not available in Canada whenever I search.
That Questyle looks pretty good. I've been considering the iFi Go Blu but am open to wired options if it's decent enough.
i have the iFi go Blu and there is a noticeable hiss while using the 4.4 balanced output but i mainly use 3.5 jack and bluetooth.
Pure Silver cables instead of generic copper ones; silver will improve clarity, dynamics, speed, texture of instruments, and sound stage depth perception, it will remove the bloat in the bass and make high hats more realistic. Change from copper to silver is like changing hardware but it's cheaper way.
I won't click on "subscribe" button, because that would unsubscribe lol
ZMF Crescent Snap
@DMS the Samson go mic is better. It just picks up much nicer.
IE Match can change the tuning of many IEMs (heads up) it’s essentially a fancy impedance adapter.
its not actually. It presents the same impedance on both ends. That's why I prefer it over an impedance adapter.
@@DMS3TV could you measure Project Red with the IE Match and without to show it doesn’t please? I’m curious now… might need to order one to try out.
Hows the IE-Match differ to impedance adapter? Btw I'm new to the hobby
you got a recommendation for a dac or amp that allows me to charge my phone while using said product?
I bought a USB ground loop isolator (Topping HS01) for my K7 and it totally saved my bacon. My RTX 3070 TI would create a nasty buzz in my monitors anytime I moved the mouse. Now it's 100% gone. Not cheap for what it is imo but worth it for me.
@DMS maybe you can add "Megatron venture electronics" big portable* usb dac for 40$. One guy said he sold Cayin ru7 and Mojo 2(!) for this. The only issue its too powerfull for iems, but with ifi "ressistor" maybe solved.
Can that first one work for headphones too not just iems?
I had the m15 for a while. It is a great dongle. But it was not for me. Too clean, too digital. The Centrancr dacport and cayin ru6 wins my heart. Great video though! Short but meaty. That Samson meteor caught my interest. 😊
questyle m15 or woo tube mini?
Nice mic but why anyone go thru connecting another mic if its going to be on pair with the stock one?
Have tried fc6 frm hiby.. peace sir!
I have the Shanling UA5 rather than the Questyle M15 but idea is the same. It's my mobile dac amp but it could be used as a desktop if I really wanted to. But I dont, because cats.
Bassjack… 👀
yo any other (cheaper) option for the ZMF? my k361 are killing me
That mike looks like a Darlic,,,
What's the difference between the IE Match and impedance adapter?
The big difference here is the IE match presents the same impedance on both ends so it won't change the FR of an IEM.
The samson nugget
Does the ifi e-match not have issues with changing an iem's tuning, like some impedance jacks? Like for example, Zero: Red
Nope! It presents the same impedance on both ends. That’s why I like it 😄
@@DMS3TV oh shit I might grab one then 😳 I'm currently using an impedance adapter to volume match an iem and a 7506 plugged into a mixer at a venue, this is probably a better solution
what cable do you have on your hd 800s?
looks like viking weave
Aiyima dac A2 Pro! Pls review for gaming! 🙏Maybe a schiit fula killer
I tried the IEmatch, and the sound quality with a powerful amp seems to not be as good as plugging the IEM into a less powerful amp.
underated dac amp.. V.E megatron
iSilencer+ by IFi audio
I don't know if I'm the only one but I found the ifi match adapter either increases the bass response or deecreases the highs of my iems. I wonder if you have noticed any tonal difference with and without the adpaters?
It shouldn’t because it presents the same impedance on both ends. I’ll run more tests though.
@@DMS3TV Cheers for quick reply. Excited to know what your tests will show!
What dongle beat the m15?
0:55 what if im already subbed and liked before watching?
Shure Play or AK Connect from Astell&Kern as players instead of some basic multimedia players. There are many players who will present music differently without spending huge money on new hardware.
Please add the prices in the video next time!
It’s fine if they are or aren’t afliate links but please include links and the list of items in the description 😢
Tempting to sell a lot of my stuff and just get a Diana v2 and the questyle m15. Minimal and a less cluttered desktop!
It's not so much underrated because at this point I feel that everyone knows about it, but the Apple dongle is a great 10 bucks DAC, will basically run any IEM without issue, and won't have issues with most headphones.
Headphones show?
Can somebody direct me to that channel? Pls. 🙇
