People always forget that a 5 is average which means that anything above that means your very attractive. People are hurt when they're called a 6 when in reality they are above average which is a big complement
I've noticed people generally tend to follow a rating similar to the grading scale we're all used to in school for attractiveness. It's not very often someone asks you to rate or "grade" someone, and there isn't this standard/official 'attractiveness scale' outside of the internet, so what you get are usually something like mostly 7's for the average. 7 being 70% or a C. Average. Make sense now?
So whenever you see something regarding rating attractiveness like this, kinda take that into consideration for the people who aren't chronically online.

Ironically made you sound like you use twitter. It isn't some hidden knowledge that out of a scale of 10, 5 is the average. I think that most people rate others a seven because of niceness, because it tells the other person that they're attractive but not like actually hot. While 7 is usually used to describe average people, how we actually view what a 7 should look like, doesn't fit the description of average. Otherwise we wouldn't have people rating others a seven. People often use positive affirmation when they rate others a seven, which makes it clear that their objective is to make the person let off easy by a rating which is actually above them.
So anyway, even if a world where everyone rates eachother sevens, seven isn't average. It wouldn't make sense anyway to have a 10 point system and have the average be at 7.
