    64Wheels, another excellent review video from you. You're right on the snow plow casting originally being a GMC. The plow was also articulated and could pivot left to right. Not exactly sure when it released but I had one around 1991. Kinda sucks how some of these castings have regressed over time rather than get better.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 4 měsíci +3

      Thanks - and agree. The casting use to be much better, that’s how I remember it being too. I’m sure it’s to make the cars cheaper overall, but to even knock the brand off it when it’s clearly a GMC is a bit funny/disappointing.

    Ugh, and the Lamborghini is the one im most excited for... It seems like mattel STRUGGLES unbelievably so with the Lamborghini scissor doors so much it might aswell just be released on the basics line without it and just be a simple model...
    Its honestly so infuriating they can't get it right when tomica has a lamborghini diablo sv which has both an active pop up light feature, and SMOOTH scissor doors.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 4 měsíci

      Agree - I don’t know why moving parts in general seem to be a tougher task for Mattel. Even the moving parts on several RLC cars I’ve gotten in the last year had doors that didn’t line up correctly. The RLC Countach and Mercedes 300SL were just okay and still some of each model had closing issues.
      For this Lambo model in particular, they definitely should have done and opening rear engine bay that allowed the back piece to be totally plastic that could have had the spoiler modeled with a pass-through rather than being solid. Would have fixed the door issue and the rear issue in one move 😢

    The plow truck used to have a removable plow. The salt box was always fixed in place. Furthermore, the original tooling had a salt spreader where the hitch is on the new tooling

      I’m anxious to see the moving parts Celica. What got me into the moving parts was the older Japanese cars they began doing. I have the older Mitsubishi Galant, Subaru Brat, Toyota FJ40 and several others. I agree they really need to rethink the packaging on these. I’m a collector as you know and I typically don’t open mine so I really think that they really need to rethink the packaging. I mean granted they’re only three dollar cars, but I don’t think you should force your customer basis into opening everything if they don’t want to. Like for example I have a lot of the collector sets that I won’t open as I liked the packaging.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The Lambo was definitely a rare Matchbox design fail. Not sure why it’s so bad but it flimsy doesn’t seem to be designed very well - I’m sure it could have been better at a higher price point, but the $3 car leaves a lot to be desired. And those JDM castings have been pretty great - I’m excited to see the convertible RX7 too.
      I was split on the packaging but after opening a few now, I don’t like them either. I like the box shape and card thickness, but they need a plastic bubble rather than the paper box. I understand the need to use environmentally friendly packaging, but not at the cost of the product…kind of defeats the whole purpose of packaging lol!

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That works on some cars better than others I’ve found - the ones with the taller tires seem to be harder to release than some of the smaller wheeled vehicles. The ones that get packed too tight seem to be where the issues with the paint rubbing happen.

    Awesome!!!! I have the Matchbox Moving Parts Dodge Ram Ambulance in Red which came on the carboard card with the oval blister. I have some of older GMC snow plow trucks that the plows were positional and were removeable. I've seen the light truck when it had first come out by it self. Also I have the Cat Farm set made by Matchbox that it had the tracked Cat farm tractor with the tracked trailer from 2000 and then later they had the same Cat tracked farm tractor in the Adult Collectable line that they made better with black paint on the cab around the windows and head / marker light tampos also black paint on the exhaust stack which I also got.

    My favourites are the VW, Bronco and Javelin. In my opinion, I think they should have gone a few steps more and had chrome bumpers on the VW with narrower wheels and smaller diameter wheels on the Javelin and done the headlights and signals. And the Bronco also needed thee headlight done. Just me being picky. I think the could charge a bit extra for those features.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 4 měsíci

      I don’t disagree there - I can enjoy them still without the headlight tampos, but there are several that really need it. I’d be interested in hearing how much two light headlight tampos add to the production cost of the car.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Před 2 měsíci

      Some moving parts cars have extra thick paint around the hood joints that make them a little difficult to open, so it’s probably that. I personally haven’t come across one with a broken joint per-say, but some are hard to open for that reason.
