    Joel, you have done a great job on a kayak that don't have a strait flat surface anywhere. I know, I have one too. LOL You are doing a great job, but don't stop. Lets see some more creativity. Good lick on your channel.

    Thanks for posting this great video:) The only thing I noticed is that had you gone further down with your drop it would increase the stability. I understand where you were coming from with your logic of keeping them up so they were at water level, however during the standing test rocking side to side you could see that the floats lifted almost completely out of the water, whereas had you gone as deep as the bottom of the kayak it wouldve further improved the stability by the flotation being further in the water:) Keep up the good work:)

    • @Okinanam69
      @Okinanam69 Před rokem +2

      You are right. The wider the span the better stability and the buoyancy of both buoys does not sharply decrease due to their proximity to the center weight of the boat, just like the wingspan of an eagle. If its wingspan is short, it cannot glide as good.

    • @nitrocw
      @nitrocw Před 10 měsíci +1

      After the fact but the pressure on the stabilizers from bouncing in the water will bust out the screws on the mounting bracket. It’s only plastic. He does not have hull access so his only other option would be using well nuts to secure the brackets. Then he could mount them deeper in the water.

    thanks for staying with this project and giving me so many good ideas. You're a hard working guy (carpenter if I don't miss my guess, which I have many times before) with the bug for sure! I mainly explore, swim and dive so I think the existing (deeply inset, about 45 degree angle) rod holders on my Pelican sit-on top are still my go to starting point. Are there any reasons, beyond conserving the rod holders, that I should not use them, given the correct angle of connecting joints?

    Two things that I noticed that may cause you problems.
    Number one is that the stabilizer's are running parallel to the sides of the kayak and this may lead to tracking problems on the water.
    The second thing is to do with the sweep of your paddle. I would shorten the front and lengthen the rear bars attached to your floatation devices. That will allow you to get more sweep with your paddle. I hope these suggestions help.
