As a star crashed down to Earth after flying over Siberia, Russia would become highly interested in the events that took place. Staging and entire invasion of Afghanistan, they would find exactly what they were looking for. However, upon trying to understand this new found species, it became apparent that something, was mildly wrong. The facility was abandoned shortly after and sealed up with the hopes it would never be found again. The United States would become aware of this facility but could never find it. As an RAF pilot was forced to see refuge within the bunker, she would and her pursuants would kick start an outbreak that needed immediate containment. But what were these creatures exactly? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

As a former paratrooper, I can accurately say you can absolutely get knocked out by hitting the ground, although its not common. You have to realize the speed at which you fall at time of impact is estimated to be equal to jumping out a 2nd/3rd story building. Hitting your head at that speed can cause a KO/concussion.
most people don't realize that a parachute is only there to slow you down just enough to walk away. the fact that parachute technology hasn't really changed since they were invented in the 30's (iirc?) should terrify anyone thinking about jumping out of an airplane that isn't parked. still, the fact that you could die, but probably won't is part of the fun.
Also, in an ejection from a plane the pilot hits up to 15-20g's, more than enough to knock someone out.
and this is part of why i will never go Airborne
@bradymenting5120
The design of parachutes have actually changed quite a bit to allow more control. If you’re referring to how they function of course they haven’t changed because the laws of physics don’t change.

But we avoid the imported Hilux "Vigo" model like a leper, where we jokingly called it Ford Hilux/ Toyota Ranger for how unreliable it was, that one may confuse it as a Ford Ranger.

There's a thing about not being allowed to 100% accurately portray uniforms in movies. Something about impersonating military personnel.
Charlotte Kirk has some serious Milla Jovovich energy. I see a bright future for her in movies with mutated humanoid CGI monsters of varying quality.
She was pretty good in this.
Agreed. Very cool too see
More so because Neil Marshall is banging her and she's now gonna' be the star of his films. I think he got sick of Hollywood shite after Hellboy.
Wasn't she also in the Hulu movie Shadow in the Cloud?
Came for the monsters, stayed for the information on Toyotas hahahha
Toyota trucks are bonkers, bro. They even have a whole war named after them: Because they won the war!
I wondered what you meant
Now I know.
Gush all you want over vehicles. It’s always fun to hear someone talk about something they REALLY like… and most of us will need a vehicle sooner or later. It’s awesome to learn this stuff from someone who isn’t trying to SELL us one. So I for one am ALWAYS grateful. Thanks, Papa Roanoke.
1. Talking about making super humans while the Halo music plays in the background, nice?
2. I'm of the mindset, if it-s not a Toyota, then it better be Honda.
3. Neil Marshall directed The Lair and Dog Soldiers, so I loved the Spoon reference. Nice call back.
Just saw Dog Soldiers for the first time a couple months ago and definitely chuckled at the reference.
I'm waiting for Toyota to make a motorcycle just so one single brand can make everything a normal person could want. Sadly only Honda makes cars, motorcycles, and "trucks" as far as I know.
Let me just say, Crown Victoria's are really nice.

I was an airborne marine. Yes if you have weak little legs you can pass out but the amount of altitude change ( not that big of a difference) and if you don’t bend your knees you can pass out. I’ve seen grown men just collapse because they didn’t bend the knees a bit.
Splicing angler fish dna with human dna is Roanoke’s biggest nightmare. Gonna need a big dose of copium after watching this movie. 😂
Now that's an eye-catching thumbnail if I've ever seen one.
Clever. I woulda never thought of that kek
Ever since Top Gear did a bit on the show trying to kill the Hilux; that's when it gained it's invincible monicker.
Top Gear drove it into trees, bits of a Victorian city with roads nailed to the ground with rivets and then had it crash, then crashed again by lifting it into the air and dropping it. Oh they also drove it out onto a ramp onto the ocean and had it consumed by the rough seas for a hot minute. Thankfully it didn't get dragged out into the open sea.
This didn't stop it from starting and driving off.
Then to close this chapter on the car, they put it atop a tower block, (a 14 story building).
Which was then demolished. Again the Hilux started and drove on.
Hence creating the legend which got quoted in ads back in America.

Regarding the MOAB: The Wiki article says, that it was meant to replace the `Daisy-Cutter´-Bomb, which was used to turn dense jungle into affordable parkingspace for helicopters. It is meant to be used against large massings of troops, caves and even to clear minefields. As of 2007 it is the second largest conventional bomb with 8,5 t of RDX (11 t of TNT), being surpassed by the russian `Father of all bombs´ with a TNT equivalent of 44 t.
Also: How do you fall unconcious from a parachutelanding, BUT are completely fine after getting hit by a car?
N not somthing u would use to demolish a seriously underground research facility tbh. U need an actual bunker buster to do that.
@arsyadidris6349
Eh not exactly. If you get past the front door the near total vacuum created by the “vacuum bomb” would probably kill everything inside made of organic tissue.
Not the most efficient way to clear a bunker but the military is very much a “use what you have” organization.

STARTING THE DAY WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF ROANOKE
Your videos are seriously my background noise. I love listening to the biology and the story breakdowns. Story breakdowns because 1) I never have the time to actually watch 2) I have a hard time solely paying attention to just that.
Biology because 1) your sassy sarcasm is awesome and 2) even though it’s not my field of work I’ve always had an interest in learning and biology and medicine.
Keep up the great work!
Roanoke's questioning how the monster rips off the dudes face instead of slashing it reminds me of the scene in Kung Pow where the narrator is questioning how the chosen one was able to punch a perfect circle out of someone's stomach. Also, the "my one weakness, tiny nets" too.
i love your commentary and the small things it makes this channel what it is, so many channels just run the "explain script" with no soul in it just like a robot, you do it amazing and my adhd brain just clicks when you starts to go on a completely off topic rant about something (like cars rofl) also sometimes i actually learn something from your ramblings and my brain thanks me for it :D

Dearest Papa Roanoke, Sorry to hear about your recent Facebook Relationship Status change. Regardless of it was something that needed to happen or not, major changes always bring additional stress. I hope it is the best thing for both of you in the long-term.
Your content, on both channels, is something I always look forward to. Roanoke Gaming vids are something that my 11yo son and I always love watching together as soon as they drop. You can be a lt to pilot a craft. Normally a first lt once assigned to a squadron. I think as she was In charge of the aircraft they referred to her as captin. In the navy the person in charge of the vessel is referred to as Captin regardless of rank.
Hey Roanoke, I love your videos. Watching them got me through the high school. I wanted to get your opinion in a book I'm working on, mainly about the infection within the book. If you have time that is

Edit: regarding the parachute thing... the only way she would have been knocked unconscious would have been from the ejection. It is a 12g launch when sent from the jet so it is possible that launch could have caused a G-lock event making her unconscious. Also, yes a 1st Lieutenant can fly. She was back seat anyway so she wasnt flying, she was a radar and electronic warfar officer in the jet
Kinda figured that would be the reason she was unconscious, good that it checks out
You are supposed to prepare by placing your back as firmly as possible and squaring shoulders and using pilot breathing which essentially gasping and bearing down almost like going #2 but it's to force blood to the brain. Watch videos of pilots doing high G maneuvers, they do this gasp gulp thing. I have to do it when I get my whole back muscles spasm simultaneously. You would be surprised how much your back muscles help you breath.
As a paratrooper I’ve been knocked out on landings before it’s just up to the wind honestly and how you end up landing helps/hurts.
you can most definitely be knocked out upon landing impact if you aren't properly prepared and braced.
Never saw an FJ60 in Afghanistan. Plenty of 70 series. I was out in Kunar and watched dozens of old diesel Hiluxes haul way too much crap up and down those mountain roads.
Ended up moving from a 93 Pickup to an 87 4Runner. Did the solid axle conversion, bastard packs and 35's balanced with airsoft bbs, threw a Spartan locker in the rear diff and let it eat. Dailyed what started as a basket case for two years 500 miles a week on the highway. made it to work one day with a blown head gasket. made it home before any issues appeared. Made it in one time with a snapped tie rod end and only one wheel following the steering wheel. Made it home on a bush-welded repair. Drove it over every rock in New England, caved in a door, bashed it back out, drove it in a river up to the headlights. Yanked a few stumps, snatched more than one hapless Jeep out of the mud. Without a doubt one of the best trucks I've ever owned. So much that I scooped up an 86 Pickup not long after so I could have a wrencher and a driver at the same time.
But hey, heres to pointing out that Finch has his name tape on the wrong side of his chest, wears the wrong color undershirt for ACUs, wears a goofy ass oversized rank patch on his arms in lieu of unit patches, is wearing a subdued embroidered US flag facing the wrong way on his right arm instead of an IR patch and an eyepatch would make him non deployable...only thing he's missing from Hollywood Military Bingo is his collar fully velcroed.

I was thinking about Halo the entire time I was watching this video….at one point toward the middle of this video I thought I heard some of the notes from the Halo theme music…well played sir. I did not hear the music well enough to even identify it… haha. This music is *REALLY* good at tugging on those nostalgia threads…. unraveling my brain to light up with all those fantastic memories of XBox LAN parties with TVs, XBoxes, controllers, friends and friends of friends all scattered over my basement floor on weekends.
