I wish Douglas Henshall would change his mind and return to Shetland. He looks the part and IS the part. For me, it's one of the best TV series I've ever watched. Great locations, fantastic actors, with a great piece of opening music... I couldn't ask for anything more.
To describe the theme song as "haunting" is an understatement; a brilliant composition that depicts Shetland as it is, stunningly beautiful. A gripping series with an amazing cast. Douglas Henshall - iconic actor, and the best portrayal of Jimmy Perez will be sadly missed.
All those beautiful women who have loved him… and yet his work comes first…. beautiful series so beautifully crafted and set against an incredible place that I have visited on 2 occasions… once when a time when the sun never sets ….
Big fan of the show; believable storylines, great acting, landscape to die for (I keep threatening my wife and grown daughters that I'm moving to the Shetlands once I retire - I live in the Mid-Atlantic region), and of course the Title soundtrack. I'm a man in my early 60's, and I can listen to that track over and over again. I'm not ashamed to say that I sometimes cry because the melancholy sound brings back memories - both sweet and sad, and of love lost and gained. Why can't we make shows like this here in the US? Uugh!
Sam here. First I only wanted go to living in Scotland when I retire. Now I want to live on Shetlands. I love this show too. Addicted and cant wait Monday for new episode. In our country are bit behind. But better late than never.
It’s lovely that the spirit of this place has reached you onnthe other side of the at.antic… maybe it travelled there with your ancestors… The Shetlands are a beautiful place and if you ever get the chance you must visit them allow yourself time and ignore the weather… if it wants to rain then just stop and listen to the sound of it, let it speak…if the wind blows listen to Mother natures breath as she whispers in your ear and when the sun shines… open your arms wide, close you eyes and just embrace the warmth and feel love radiating into your soul…. Look at the blue skies, bluer than any other blue and pure…
Such a wonderful show. Jimmy is like the dad we all wished we had. Bravo Douglas, you're up there with the very best and the rest of the actors' support was stellar too.

I hated it when I learned season 7 was it with the same cruix. I'm glad I bought all seven w/subs DVD's FOR USA. An excellent series that they should have extended. I will miss it for it is hard enough to get quality programming from the UK.

Made it as far as the Orkney Islands (Highland Park Distillery) and hope to go to the Isle of Skye in the next year or two.
