That's just CRAZINESS to march with bassoons!! Glad I played piccolo also... much simpler to march with!

As long as the musician can play a bassoon, then why not, right? Keep in mind that the Arcadia Area is full of professional musicians who teach the various instruments, not to mention that at Arcadia (and a few other schools from the Poway Unified School District in San Diego and around California) at least 80% of their band members are in individual private lessons for their instrument, so the learning curve is a tad greater than most other schools where individual lessons are tough to come by. So on top of the bassoons in the Apache Band, I'm sure that every now and again, you'll see other instruments like the oboe or alto clarinet march in the band reviews, most especially their own Host event.

4 bassoons? That kills me! I played bassoon, but for marching I swapped out for a piccolo. My shako's off to you, bassoonists... not an easy feat. Music quality is good. I thought some of the ranks and diagonals were a bit muddy. Always a challenge when you march 11 in a rank vs. 9. Check out Loara 1969 Purple Carnival to see what I mean. Cheers.

This year the Mira Mesa Sapphire Sound is gonna play this as their parade march for the tournaments! I'm gonna be in it, and I'm so excited! This is my first year in the band!

Fun march to play! Hey, I played basketball in your gym during my college days at USIU (now Alliant International University). 1979ish... The school was very new then, I saw that whioe area around there develop. Cheers!
