Sounds like a good build. Your doin it right. Everybody will seem to have a opinion on what they think you should do. Just do it how u want it. Let others build there own how they see fit. But dont overlook good advice. Advice is only a suggestion. U dont have to take it. But try to know when its good advice or bad advice. U will make mistakes somtimes & they will cost you. Dont let it discoursge u. Learn from them & overcome the mistakes. And no matter how long someone has been building engines for, remember not even they are above making mistakes. Those that talk like they know it all, avoid them. They dont. A truelly good & experianced engine builder will tell you to always double check his work he dous for you. They will do what they believe is right but they will admit they might make mistakes too so they want you to not just take there word for it.
Well said. Will do its just one thing after another. I just got to keep chipping at it. Thank you for the feedback it very appreciated. Hope you have a wonderful night
You done good , sounds great. Always do what you want to do, listen to people you trust and ignore the rest. Always double check your numbers and torque specs. If you mess up redo it and learn from it. I've done this same stuff your doing since I was 16yr old, I'm 64 now and still doing it. And will till I die. Proud of You. Keep it Up. 😊😊
Thank you Matthew I'll do that, glad to hear there's others trying to keep the old trucks on the road as well if you got any questions let me know I'll try to make a video on it!
good build have a 400 with cam and 4v to get the most out of you combo you ll need headers and a 3 inch tall open element air breather that will boost power and gas mileage
On the 4v heads , how much did those costs you if you doant mind me asking, and where did you find the 4bbl intake manifold, I am thinking about rebuilding my 351m 400cid any help/ideas would be much appreciated
Toss that turkey pan bud. Been building 335 series/ tall deck Clevelands since the 80's and have never used one. AZ 120' summers stuck on freeway and never a problem with fuel/vapor lock.
Yeah I thought about it but I'd already had it on hand so I figured I'd go ahead and use it, iv never had a problem with them so I figured I'd at least give it a try and it worked out perfect. Thanks for the info that's one of the things I worried about I didn't know how it would react with the hot oil on the bottom
Silicone can shrink over time esp in cold weather. Brown permatex is great for water pump, valce cover intake seals etc. Does the job and never really hardens. 10 yrs now not 1 leak. Just a tip...motor on man.
Hey, I used the magnum 224/224 which is the 270h grind by comp cams. This is a flat tappet I recommend going with the roller version which Is only a couple hundred more or the 215/215 roller because they are more efficient I was on a budget which is why I went the route I did. The roller route also eliminates the chances of wiping a cam during breakin
Yeah it's basically identical other than the taller block. Cylinder Heads, cams, some pistons, distributors and some other parts are interchangeable the 400 just has the extra cubic inches without the headache and cost of a stroker cleveland and cost of switching transmission
Thank you, and yeah I know I'm working on that I'm just using a phone and don't really have a good place to record yet so I'm kind of all over the place
Nice work! That's a healthy sounding chug she's got.
Congrats.
Yes sir, thank you

That looks like a 351C short block, with aluminum heads a much better combination
Yeah it's basically identical other than the taller block. Cylinder Heads, cams, some pistons, distributors and some other parts are interchangeable the 400 just has the extra cubic inches without the headache and cost of a stroker cleveland and cost of switching transmission
Look how wide the manifold is. That is a 351M or 400.
But I guess I ve dunnit too... heheh n a teepee on a mountain wif no road da las cupla miles. Ppl thought I wuz NUTS
no ...jus poor
I was excited for the 351M and it sounded very good. The videography is horrible.
Thank you, and yeah I know I'm working on that I'm just using a phone and don't really have a good place to record yet so I'm kind of all over the place
Do you still have the factory rockers?
No sir it's got a set of 1.73 ratio Scorpion Roller rockers
Is that a 351M or a 400?
@@darrellseike3185 it is a 400 with tmyer pistons 224/224 flat tappet cam edelbrock heads and intake

I got one just didn't have access to it at the time. I wanted to show you don't need expensive tools to get the job done.
