    While we wait for UPS to locate our Carburetor we prep and install the new intake manifold. MAN that thing looks good!!!

    Id agree and say Vacuum advance and brake booster is all you need Troy. The lines coming from the tank is most likely supposed to go to a soup can looking thing for fuel vapors. Its a charcoal canister. Not required if Utah doesn't need anything for smog.

      Correct! That’s exactly where that connected to. When you said canister I remembered unplugging that back in the day. WINNER!!!

      @@troysgarage I tossed my charcoal canister on my truck, but I wish I had kept it just to keep from smelling fuel vapors from the fuel tank vents on hot days. It doesn't necessarily need to be hooked up to anything other than the fuel tank vent line.

    I just did the same on my 400. I’ve got a 77 F150 that had a blown up 351m. I picked up a 400 off marketplace. Im doing a lot of the same things you went through. I can’t wait to see the “finished” product.

    Great work Troy. I need to do that intake and carb swap to my 79. Along with an HEI distributor.

      Careful those HEI’s throw out some serious lightning! Both me and neighbor Joe got lit up in the same day. Hahaha

      It’s a cool upgrade and eliminates about 40 pounds on the front end.

    Hey Troy I think that intake may be on backwards. The bracket with the spring for the throttle should be on the drivers side

      It is on the drivers side. I’m gonna have to go back and watch my own video again to see why you’d say that. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I know it’s right cuz at this point I’ve already mounted the carb (next week’s video).

      Dude! What the? Seriously don’t remember that but you are absolutely correct. It’s right now cuz the return spring is hooked up. I do not remember turning it around either. I’m losing my mind! 🤪😱

    NPT refers to national pipe thread and there no 5/8" NPT. It goes from 3/8" to 1/2" and the 3/4". There is no other sizes in between. From what I can see, that looks like a 1/2" Npt size.

      I totally believe you, cuz I have no knowledge otherwise, but I was reading it right off the label from the product packaging. (shrug)

      As far as I know. 🤷🏼‍♂️ If someone knows of something else that needs vacuum on this let me know. I ditched all the smog crap. I do have a “vent” tube coming forward from the fuel tank. Maybe that needs to go to a vacuum source? Can’t remember where that was originally connected. Thoughts?

    I don't know what carb you are going to run, but unless you plan to run a carb spacer, those carb studs are going to be too long. I just found this out...I transferred my studs over to a Holley manifold and with a Holley 600 - studs were way too long. I forgot about all the EGR stuff mounted between the carb and manifold. accounts for the difference for me at least. Going to get a new set from Orielly's ($13) - ironically - HTH

    Maybe i missed it but when you’re hand tightening or torquing the intake down do you go in a diagonal pattern and 2-3 times or what’s that process? Love the videos can’t wait to see Midnight Maroon do a crazy burnout down the neighborhood!!

      You are correct there is a pattern to torquing down the intake. Every motor is different so double check the googles every time. For this one it’s basically inside to outside in a rotating pattern. I torqued this down 2 days later when I had time to mess with the carb and get it mounted. (Another viewer noticed I put the intake on backwards too, I might be losing my mind cuz I don’t remember turning it back around but it’s on correctly now 🤷🏼‍♂️)
