But that's why I love Kiryu! Just from looking at him you think he's going to be a AAAsshole like Aden Pierce who seems to be more villainous than the actual villains but it's amazing just how much fun he seems to be having. Like how invested he gets in racing toy cars.
This mirrors my impression of the character. I played Yakuza 0 first, and immediately didn't like him much because I thought he was gonna be the type of character to beat the shit out of random passerbys because they looked at him funny. Many hours later, I discover he's the type of kindhearted goofball that he'd save the life of a chicken, name him "Nugget", and get him a job managing real estate
Aiden Pearce is supposed to be a deconstruction of the anti-hero trope.

Well she’s hairy, she kind of acts as a mom and she’s at least the second most serious character in the series (after young Balder). Everyone in her life is somehow weirder than her.

You're really gonna call out Yakuza for doing the Dad thing? That's been a thing since the FIRST YAKUZA GAME
I like the fact that the Yakuza series is all about disco-stomping and smashing people over the head with bicycles yet your main takeaway is that the principal character is such a great father figure.
I dread to think what in your upbringing let to that deduction as your dear father knocks other fathers into the nearby trees by using a park bench as a fucking baseball bat and then scowls at their children in a very disapproving way.

I just love Yakuza. One of the best thing about the story is that it really makes the characters feel alive and human. Also even after 6 games the plot twists still surprise me

I think the best side activity in Yakuza 6 is the bar mini game where you have to befriend all the locals down the local. I love it because of all the wacky, bizarre side nonsense Kiryu gets up to that one seems the most normal and age appropriate. Old man Kiryu finishing a tough day smashing street thugs teeth in with bikes, benches and other stuff beginning with B and then nipping down the pub for a few shorts and a nice chinwag.

For yakuza, i reccomend starting at 0.
For persona, 3, 4, and 5 are great starters, since you dont need to start at 1.
Got into Yakuza but I’m not getting into Persona. Don’t like the turn based gameplay or the anime high school aspect.
it doesn’t really matter where you start in persona because I don’t think any of them are really connected storywise.
“The Song Of Life” is a hilarious whimsical subtitle for the name “Yakuza”. But I guess that’s the Yakuza series for you.

I bought Yakuza 6 over God of War. I know people want me to feel buyers remorse and regret but I just can't. Yakuza games hearken back to that crazy era of games. A time where we saw a plumber in blue overalls butt stomp a mutated turtle to save a princess and a talking mushroom and said "Sure, makes enough sense to me."

I will say this, this game had one of the only boss fights that actually scared me for how i never saw this character as a villain, i swear to God his boss fight reminded me of the Tonberry's from Final Fantasy except if they were ninjas.

Yahtzee, if you run a full Umami build, you can unlock King of Flavor mode. It was a bad design choice, but they locked the Shin Cheffing Tourney behind that path, and that's where all the REAL action is in this game.
I'm sorry Dead Rising but I've found another series where I can beat the shit out of people with benches.
There's something about hearing Yahtzee rip games apart that really makes me relax...

This game did have a lot of fun glitches he forgot to mention. Punching someone in into the maps ceiling, it is like trying to sent someone into the atmosphere with a punch and realizing there is no sky.

Great video. Personally I did like the main story of Yakuza 6 more than Yakuza 0. They did great with the lessons on family to other characters and also to Kiryu. Him finally acknowledging the person who he'd consider his son was an awesome end.
This doesn't count as a dad game. Kiryu doesn't growl "BOI" every five minutes.

I've heard/read good things about zero so that may be my starting point.
The Bayonetta joke at the beginning got funnier the more I thought about it
I think why it's so lesser is because Kiryu and even Majima are getting to feel that they're OLD! If they make one more game with them, I wouldn't be surprised to see them kick about several dudes in the face then have a big crack in their back and need to lie down for a few hours!
0 is so good cause they were young and in the funky 80s, where stuff gets crazy and that crazy is fun!

I'd be interested to know of what he thought of the Yakuza remake (Kiwami) games since they have already done the first 2 and I think they said they planned to remake all the games up to 5.
Not every new game in a series has to be the best one yet. This game gives you more Yakuza, and I'll take that any day.

Kiryu takes care of the baby but he's not the baby's dad. He's been a dad figure since 2005/6 (whichever year yakuza 1 came out) with haruka though. Albeit not her blood father.
