    I used to cook the fish in a pot with hot water instead of steaming it. This method is way better because the seasoning and marinade is infused into the fish while cooking. Love this healthy and easy to make delicious recipe. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!

    Great!. I prefer to put the steamed fish on a clean plate so I left in the steamed plate the liquid and cooked ginger and green onion. Also, I like to use more hot oil (double amount) so fresh ginger, cilantro and green onion that I place on top of cooked fish get a touch of as if they were slightly cooked.

    • @Phili721
      @Phili721 Před 9 lety +3

      fancy house
      it gives it a cleaner taste if you take away the water. you are replacing it with soy sauce anyway. but yes you can use it for stock for future recipes. At the same time you can keep it and your soy sauce + fish water taste more fishy. cooking is VERY versatile. just depends how you prefer to cook stuff lol

    • @kinkinham
      @kinkinham Před 9 lety +3

      fancy house You can keep the water if you clean the fish by rubbing it with salt to get rid of the slime. I prefer keeping the water. It tastes better. Steaming the fish with ginger slices, green onion and a splash of cooking wine will get rid of the fishy taste.

    Steaming is supposed to be healthy but not if you use too much oil. this is an irony I find in ALL the steamed fish recipes. they ALL use lots of oil.

      +Truman1201 you don't have to follow recipe , add as much as you want (or little)

      Oil in itself isn't unhealthy, especially if it's non saturated. Also, she used it sparingly for flavour. It's not like this is fish and chips fried in pork lard.

      my friend's father cooks this all the time. But he just steams a fish with ginger, no oil. Simply adding soy sauce and serving. It's delicious! Always fresh fish from the market though, never frozen.

      It wasn’t really a huge amount of oil. The fish will be shared between 2/3 people so per serving it’s nothing, esp if non saturated as mentioned. Enjoy!
