I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

mia is one of the best main dancers in 4th gen. she has the technique, the moves, but also the facial expressions and stage presence. she always delivers and gives her all when she's in front of a camera or on stage, even when she is injured. from all dance practices analysis videos i've seen from professional dancers and performers, they always point her out first. even if you are not a professional, just go watch a fancam from her, you'll see there's something different about her. she totally deserves her main dancer(and main vocal) position, it's a pity that kpop stans are so immature that they prefer to throw hate at her and/or ignore/diminish her talent due to things that aren't under her control(line distribution, screentime...).
I am literally so impressed by Mia. She is fantastic at what she does!
The first thing that i noticed when i first watch everglow was mia and her amazing facial expressions

I never vote, but there were several people doing a good job of instructing us how to vote :D They deserve all the wins especially for this song, but it's long overdue imo.

i hate that so much!! everglow are not a "girl crush" concept group--they are just everglow! they're doing their own thing and don't deserve to be belittled to just that genre. they are sooooooooo much more than that.

everglow definitely did do a girl crush concept but they abandoned it recently and have been exploring more.
the concepts they tried recently: tbis and vogueing were IMPRESSIVE. as kpop, especially gg's, dont do it much
Tbh I don’t even feel like their concept is simply girl crush. There is variety. BBC and LDD have very different vibes

Their concept for me is powerful. Their songs are really powerful and impactful. Since La Di Da era, they really show a lot of versatility. Their dance line is so strong they can dance to anything.
Mia came to her company to be a vocalist only and they asked her to dance. They saw how good she was and said she'd be a main dancer lol. So she got both her wishes. She's had a great voice, dancing, rap since adios, and facial expressions since day one. Home girl can do it. Plus shout out to EU on that rap 🔥and Shiyeon on them vocals.
P.S. EU gets next dance break. It has to be her or Aisha cause the rest have at it.

Given the number of boy group choreos (exo, nct, monstax, bts) they've done, I'm not surprised they finally took up the style into their own songs
Not everything women do thats slightly badass is BOYGROUP, stop labeling it that cause thats the main reason almost no ggs do it.

Also, I don't believe it's because of any label we Forevers came up with. The "division" was already there for many years now. We are just appreciating that they are not conforming to it.
@@tristamfs3542 but there's actual history of the dance style commonly used by girl groups which seperates them from that of boy groups. Girl groups like Dreamcatcher and Everglow muddy the distinction to an extent but most girl groups are dancing with technique and in styles fundementally different from boy groups.
@@M1ntP0ppy forevers didnt come up with any label. If u talk to actual forevers theyll tell u not to label it boygroup cause it pushes the girls into a catagory.
@@emilyvalentine4565 Just because theres history doesnt mean it should be labelled. Each group has their own concept, its the same for bgs doing cute concepts and instantly being labelled girly. its toxic and needs to stop let groups do whatever they want without forcing gendered labels onto them
E:U dancing is so powerful and she has such good technique. She deserves the main dancer role but yuehua doesn’t acknowledge it enough what makes me really annoyed.
As great as the choreography looked in the MV with the camera work, the dance practice really makes you appreciate it even more.

You're absolutely right when you talk about the typical gg choreographies. There is indeed a comfort zone the industry has a very difficult time letting go of because, well, it's comfortable. But as of the beginning of the 3rd generation, we started to see more and more ggs breaking the stereotype and leaving this comfort zone. And this 4th gen is simply rocking it when it comes to leaving the comfort zone. They're really living the performer dream now. I'm really enjoying this revolution in the K-pop industry.

I'd love if they actually gave BOTH main dancers the proper spotlight and not just Mia. I love seeing Onda get some spotlight that she MUCH deserves. Hopefully next time E:U finally gets to shine for once. PLEASE Yuehua she is hardly getting anything for her positions. Lines of a sub rapper lowkey and dance positions that don't match a main dancer. This is only aimed at Yuehua not the girls so don't try to twist it.

I feel line ONE center chorus part should have been given to E:U. Yiren is the centre, so it makes sense that she got so many centre parts, but Mia got all three choruses, it seems a bit much. She was also a lot in the centre during other members' lines. She is a phenomenal dancer and performer, but I want to see more of E:U, she is clearly overlooked. I am glad that Onda got the center break tho, she clearly killed it and had the right attitude for it.

Yeah I was confused because I thought EU was the main dancer and I barely saw her have her moment. I am happy that onda finally gets her moment to shine but mia has such a large amount of center time during the chorus and it’s nothing that EU can’t do...
BBtrippin (Ateez choreographers) did the choreography for Everglow´s First mv, you can feel Ateez vibes in this choreo and we are glad to watch a girl group doing more difficult choreos, as atiny and forever im so happy.

When you talked about gg demonstrating levels in their choreography, I agree with you. I recommend looking at a girl group called PIXY. Their latest comeback really plays with levels and the the transitions are smooth. They are crazy for a rookie group.
I agree, PIXY choreographies really impressed me. They are very powerful and detailed. Even their B-side Moon has an interesting chorea that plays with their outfit.

They would be 10 times bigger if they were coming from a Korean agency. They have so much potential, and the company really knows what they are doing with them.

@@jessicajessica4392 it really helps that they're from Yuehua, coz they're RICH and big af in China. Everglow is probably the best act they invested in in Korea
@@anonymoushue Well, they also have WJSN which is huge in Korea. But they are hugely investing in Everglow, and it shows. Their outfits, MV, dances and musics are high in quality, and they are constantly improving. The girls are really well-trained (their improvement shows that they continue to be trained). Overall, they are well-treated by their company. Too bad that racism in Korean against China is pretty huge. They just need one hit to become big.
@@anonymoushue But honestly, they can easily compete with ITZY and AESPA when it comes to quality of music and investment in their MV, they clearly have the budget and the company does not hesitate to pour money in them, rightly so.
If we're talking about different levels, then Dreamcatcher is well known for their interesting use of levels, formations, and unique transitions - in all of their choreographies really, but esp their older ones which I don't think you've seen. I would recommend checking out their dance practices for Chase Me, Full Moon, Endless Night, Wind Blows, and Scream if you're interested!!

@@yunhoney It would be good, especially as I feel that they have a similar level of popularity. No big group will overshadow the others, and that will be a good way to promote them. I also see CLC to complete the line-up (but it's a pipe dream haha)

Their cb for first is really good, its not often you get a girl crush concept that ain't tryna please male in anyway. Some gg have a girl crush concept but the company would often try to cater to male viewers imo. So seing this, something really different really I love it, from the dance, the colour of the mv and even the outfit. Like damn.

Two of the girls had covid earlier in the year, I think in January? They mentioned in their win today they've had to go through a lot of difficulties... I would guess getting that sick was part of it. Imagine training for this song with covid?

tbh I'm lowkey not liking how people are implying certain things about ggs and female artists in general when they hype the fact that everglow did a "boy group" choreo. idk where people get that these types of dances are exclusive to men. maybe in kpop there aren't many ggs doing choreos that go hard like this one, but there are intricate and powerful choreos done by ggs. outside of kpop these dances aren't rare in female dance crews, so as a dancer it kind of irks me that kpop stans have dubbed anything hardcore to be the "brand" of bgs only. (not about jeff, moreso the people that seem to be acting like everglow are powerful solely because it looks like a bg choreo and was made by a group that choreographed for a boy group.)
Ryujin's words about people's backhanded compliments towards ggs and comparisons really keep coming back to me while reading comments about this comeback. lowkey sad because i love it so much and it's sad bc everglow don't need to emulate no one to be as great as they are.
at 4:38 im kinda confuse whether they like sway they're arms or keep it straight because Onda made it so different from the other members (excluding Mia). Can someone clarify with me?
It’s just a part of the choreo the members (excluding) are doing different things with there arms but they are swaying there arms it’s just onda sways her arms first then makes them straight
I think its supposed to be a freestyle arm wave cause each member is waving differently than the other, if u realize Yiren is waving both arms open as well

Seeing it in this context makes me even more impressed. EverGlow really seems to be a legitimate next gen group here. Sorry gamer coming out in me but I think that's appropriate considering.
But EverGlow isn't really that known in Korea yet and seems to be far more recognized outside? 🤔 Much in the same way Dreamacatcher is but not that I'm complaining any as Everaglow is lit AF.
But the male group comparisons I'm not sure is fair. Means they're not coming into this sitting down and plan on a no prisoners approach, I respect that!! Definitely putting them on my radar from this point foward!! :b

Hey Jeff. I see it's been a while since you did anything Everglow. Looks like you've been busy with lots of other groups. In your Bon Bon Chocolate video you asked for B sides. My favorite is Please Please. But D+1 is also great as is Hush. If you look up their online concert, you can see them perform those songs. Also you've yet to do the Promise video and song that they did for Unicef. Very different from their other videos as it is for Unicef. I hope this doesn't get lost in your comments as this is from an old post. I also hope you've figured out who's who. Everglow Forever, let's go!

At this rate, they've reached a level they could put out anything and fans will buy it. The mind set for more groups to reach the top is so small groups like this should be known too.
I also kinda wish bp choreo is like this. I find their choreo boring but to be fair, bp can do choreo like this also. they just tend to simplify their dance steps so that their fans can also imitate them. (actually there's many more reasons why) It's this mini group to fan interactions makes them successful. They do even have this cover competitions for fans.

yg artists never had good choreo, they focus more on stage presence. also, even though their choreo is not hard, they always have iconic killing parts that everyone remembers and dances to.
@@wallaceavila6560 that's true but the thing is bp usually stick to their choreo unlike maybe 2ne1 or bb who even on music shows were hyping up the crowd more than dancing. They had stage presence without dancing. If bp had started out that way instead of always dancing ppl might not trivialize their choreo as much

I hope that with more girl groups doing "boy group choreos" like Everglow just did, we can get past that gender duality and be like, it's a hard hitting choreo that happens to be performed by a girl group, just like a softer choreo could be performed by a boy group 😉 I mean all kpop idols are so talented and it really seems like they can do it all so it'd be cool if they had the freedom to actually do any kind of concept/type of choreos they want without it being brought back to gender, like what Ryujin said when people were saying they were good performers ... "for a girl group"

honestly I feel like you _need_ to watch more girlgroups because they play with the levels and that kind of stuff. Maybe you don’t like the type of music as you said in your izone reaction (which is fine tho) but believe me they are, and in fact the gg are usually more synchronized than bg, so yeah you should start watching more ggs
