Meet the Sonza Family! Since starting Lone Fox it has always been a dream of mine to makeover a subscriber’s home and I finally got the opportunity to do so with the help of CZcams + Wayfair. The Sonza family recently welcomed a baby girl to their family and didn’t have much time to get their newly purchased home ready (they closed on the house when Jenn was in labor). While watching their submission video, I loved the beams throughout the living room/dining room, the kitchen had great bones and the bedrooms/bathrooms just needed some TLC and minor DIY upgrades! Stay tuned for episode 2 to see how I transformed the living room, dining room, breakfast nook & kitchen!

Hello Lone Fox Community! It's Jerome...or is it Jim? And we just want to pop in to say thank you for all the beautiful comments about our home, me and the Mrs., Mando, and especially Julia! I just wanted to pop in quickly to address the Jerome and Jim confusion: My nickname is Jim/Jimbo. I actually didn't now my real name was Jerome until I started Kindergarten and the teacher was doing roll call. Apparently my dad wanted to name me Rambo cause the movie just came out in the Philippines and my mom shot down that idea. The compromise was my nickname: Jimbo (has a J, and rhymes with Rambo).
When Drew asked what I preferred to be called, I said either name is okay! So that's all on me, I should have stayed consistent and just have him call me Jim too!
Again, thank you for all the wonderful comments! We read each and every one of them! I am so flattered there were even positive comments about me and my shirt. I knew that my gorgeous wife, crazy dog, and beautiful daughter were going to take the spotlight in the comments so it was humbling to see sprinkles of positive affirmations directed at me!
We are so excited to see how it all turns out for Drew and his team after that cliffhanger!
@Jerome Sonza *Thanks for clarifying your name, Jim! CONGRATULATIONS on being selected for your home makeover by Drew/Lone Fox‼️🦊😉 SO GLAD THE ASBESTOS WILL BE REMOVED to keep your family healthy❣️ You have a L👶VELY FAMILY❣️😘❤️ Your wife is so sweet, and Julia Marie is GORGEOUS‼️😉😍💜*
Yesss!! The shirt deserves a moment 👕 So Iconic 👌🏽🙌🏽
Hey there Jim. So Excited for you guys! You have a beautiful family & have been blessed in so many ways! What a one in a million amazing opportunity you guys have been gifted by Drew!! Congratulations. .... I just happened to notice that you're not subscribed to Drew. You might want to subscribe to his channel as a thank you for everything he's done for you guys! ... PS I'm not trying to be mean or anything like that at all! I'm a very very forgetful person as well! You have so much going on right now with a new baby & house. You are allowed to be forgetful LOL! I hope your new home is filled with many blessings and wonderful memories!
Can we talk about how lucky it was that this family was selected for the makeover so that the asbestos was discovered sooner rather than later 👀👀👀 Thank goodness it's getting taken care of now. 💛
Since they recently bought the house I'm curious as to how the inspector didn't catch it??
Asbestos in popcorn ceiling is pretty normal in old homes, that’s why a lot of people opt to leave them alone. It’s not harmful unless disturbed (removal) because it’s the dust that you breathe in that’s dangerous. Inspectors can only tell you the likelihood of whether your house has asbestos based on the area you live in and the age of the home. You have to have someone come in and safely remove a piece of ceiling, drywall, flooring, etc. to take away for testing and there usually isn’t time to do that before finalizing the home purchase. This is all my experience as a homeowner in a smaller city in BC, Canada though.
That kinda sucks that this happened. But I’m so glad they caught it on time and getting it fixed for them. Especially that they have a newborn 👶🏻. Love ❤️ this channel and the way Drew decorates.
@@dianadundidit5343 I’m super surprised the house was sold without some disclosure. I knew it as soon as I seen the ceiling what was there but when it wasn’t mentioned I thought well maybe it’s not what it looks like. Those of us from that era remember what a mess it was when they had to remove in public places. A mall in my area hung plastic and removed it without announcing what was being done. It was quite a little brouhaha when people figured it out. Nasty stuff with more than one person getting lung cancer (usually only those who worked with). While inconvenient for this lovely family the harm over time of that stuff flaking off from age is scary.
Isn’t that the truth they show online all the people DIY removal thank goodness they didn’t try something like that.
It was meant to be, now the family can grow in a healthy environment
Something about you makes my heart happy. Your such a humble guy and your taste is exquisite. At 65 is hard to get motivated after surviving cancer 3 times and now struggling with a brain tumor. But you and McCaenna makes me smile so I am going to try to fix some cracks around my fireplace. Also decorated the kitchen and now my living room for the holidays. God bless you both!
Hi wow I love that you took the time to say what you did. You are definitely a fighter and a survivor. You will be in my prayers ❤and thank you for watching Drew. You are right he is very humble and very thoughtful.
Wishing you comfort❤
Your comment makes me humble thru gratitude (for your victorious perseverance among the fight) to see that cancer will never define nor stop you from living. As my son is fighting hard too (inoperable Hodgkins Lymphoma), it humbled our life to visually see the will and tenacity in everything he does (which is a lot) thru the smiles and pain. With much love I sincerely wish that all our prayers be expeditiously met for you as well sir. As I end with a endless hard hug🫂 sent your way, God bless you and yours always 💯❣️PS. Plz keep us posted on how the chimney went. Fixing that bugger sure going make your winter safer, warmer, cozier (virtually sends hot cocoa with bailey's n cream ur way)
HOORAY FOR YOU!!! Isn’t it amazing how doing something no matter how small can uplift us in challenging times! Keep up the positivity as best you can and know that you have found more support right here from all of us!
Amen! Love Drew ❤
Wayfair is sure killing it with their strategies on social media. Kudos to them. So excited. Quite the cliffhanger at the end there, Drew!
Right?! I was ready for the cliffhanger.
I always wonder how he thinks things up lol. It’s like he’s a director of his own tv show 😅
I adore WAYFAIR ! Great choice !! ….so many choices
oops wasn't ready
I love wayfair but I find them extremely expensive
I just started but that sweet baby girl was just staring and smiling at Drew constantly! She’s so beautiful! Can’t wait to watch this makeover! I know it will be amazing!
She is the cutest little baby I have ever seen 🥰🥰 such an angel
@@lonefox the dog loved you too...there is a thing that if the dog welcomes you to their home it is because they know you will be positively impacting their world/family❤
Charisma.
@@lonefox Drew you were wanting to cuddle her weren't you. Just admit it! I know I wanted to! Adorable baby girl!
@@nopenoway1519 Same w the dog ! 🐾🐾
Can we just talk about how mesmerised Julia was with you Drew, she didn’t take her eyes off you…I love how excited you are over this makeover…..not good that they found asbestos which delayed everything but look at it this way it was meant to be, asbestos is very dangerous so effectively you have helped this family more than you know💖
The dog loves you and the baby loves you -- proof positive you're the real deal.
Asbestos is deadly! Had a working colleague getting cancer and died because he was exposed to it! I am soooo greatful this was discovered for this young family 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I loved how the baby girl 👶 kept her eyes on Drew the whole time. How precious
She was mesmerised, wasn't she? 👀
👆congratulations you have been selected
among our lucky winners🎁👆
Ahhh...the reality of home makeovers--homes in general. Always something popping up. Thank goodness this makeover led to the discovery of the asbestos. Baby Julia cannot be anywhere near that! Lone Fox saved the day in more ways than one! As always...Drew rocks!!
Ok the dog greeting Drew was the cutest thing! What an awesome family & a very cool house to bring back to life!
I loved the way he gave him a big ole doggy bear hug
Having a baby and decorating with baby proofing in mind is another level. Everyone on the edge of their seat to see how its possible
I think all of us parents are thinking that ☺️ interior design with kids in a home is not easy 🥲 cant wait to see the end result🤩
That white sofa in the living room mood board is not the best idea with a baby, hope he goes for something different
Oh noooo!!! Now THAT's a cliffhanger! LOL
Love the family! Love the ideas! Can't wait to see this project come to life!
The baby constantly looking at the camera was beyond cute
Oh my Gosh!!! Cliff hanger... 😬 😥
Asbestos, oh nooooo! A lot of popcorn ceilings from that era are Asbestos based. So surprised the home inspector didn't catch that before they bought the house. You got this Drew! 👍 BTW the look on your face is priceless! 😳
No pressure on the first day!
So excited to see makeover! 💯❣️
I’m not gonna lie the jealousy is flowing through me wishing my submission got picked but I’m honestly so stoked this family got picked and they deserve a great makeover. I’m still here watching every second!
Wow, you're bring multiple blessings to this family! Not only helping make their home lovely, but healthy! Glad the asbestos was found so soon upon them moving in & is promptly being removed. Super excited to see what you come up with in the next video!
OMG the way the baby was mesmerized by Drew the whole walk through. My heart!!! ❤
The way their baby girl stares at Drew is adorable.
Cutest baby EVER!!!! Congratulations to this wonderful family! New baby, new house AND Drew... oh my! You really are tremendously talented, Lone Fox... Videography, scripting, designing...and a cliffhanger!!! Will continue to tune in!
I made an entire video for this and never submitted it!! This gives me fomo and mad at myself for not doing it!! You are so wonderful. We love you drew boo boo
Aww!!! Well hopefully I will be able to do this again very soon!
When I saw the popcorn ceiling, asbestos was my first thought. I’m exited to see the transformation!!! ❤
I def thought it was a possibility but I didn't realize what goes around removing it.... More in episode 2!
@@lonefox In your next video could you explain what makes asbestos unsafe (ie disturbing it)? A lot of people in these comments seem to think the ceiling as it was posed an immediate risk of harm to the family and their newborn, and this isn't true. It would be good to clear up some misconceptions so people are more informed when purchasing and renovating their homes.
@@lonefox my Dad died of Mestholioma, which is lung cancer due to exposure to asbestos. It take approximately 40 years to develop and by the time its detected it is non-curable. The dust that would fall from the ceiling definitely does pose a long term health risk. This project has potentially saved lives! It's a blessing.
@@violetvotes2024 sorry about your dad dying from mesothelioma. Left untouched, a popcorn ceiling, especially if painted, does not emit dust and would not pose any health risk. It’s only when you disturb the popcorn and it has asbestos that you need an asbestos abatement contractor. It is very very costly to remove.
@@PalisHoneyBees Granted, it's also very easy for a growing child to decide to "clean" the ceiling, or break some via throwing toys or shooting nerf darts (turns out even stuffed animals can take out some ceiling popcorn), or bump their head on it if they have a bunk bed at some point, not realizing it could be dangerous. I did all these and more as a child. Never tested our popcorn ceilings for asbestos, but my mom's lungs seem to have a lot to say about it. Best to err on the side of caution if you are at all financially able to. Of course, not everyone can, and to them I say, just be careful, and do your best to educate your children if you have any. Like you said, as long as it's left untouched, it should be fine, it's just that making sure it stays untouched is easier said than done with kids.
So impressed with the dog training. Love to see active, responsible pet parents!
What dog training? I didn’t notice any training. I saw the owner give him a treat. I didn’t see him put the dog in the down position or give him the place command which is what most people who train their dogs do when they have guests over, espresso if they have an excited dog that jumps on guests.
@@ccap3211 7:33
@@VictoriaMathis yeah I guess. It’s pretty minimal training. He had him lay down and gave him a treat. I guess that’s better than nothing. He needs to work on him jumping on guests at the door.
You are wonderful! It’s not like you don’t have a full house that needs to be renovated and furnished and I’m sure they would have let you pick that as your dream project. How wonderful that you chose to pay your blessings forward to this deserving family. I’m settling in with a cup of coffee to watch this and can’t wait to see what you do with the place.
he's very thoughtful and giving for sure
Lol, that baby's smile! This home will be baby approved... only you... even the BABY is excited! You have such great energy, good for you!! I'm so happy to see you living your best life ☺️ you were born to do this 😁
That PUP is just like.. THIS IS A GOOD HUMAN.. THIS IS A GOOD HUMAN.. I LIKE THIS HUMAN and, of course, he is totally correct! I can totally understand the situation.. in 95 we moved into our second home Saturday and our second son was born Sunday. I feel like I still never caught up with “decorating” and he’s getting married tomorrow. 😕 You guys are so lucky to have encountered this precious person in your life. He just seems like the type person who becomes that special friend for life. Your baby is fascinated! Lol 💕
Another example of how good God is. Bless this family, I'm so happy you're getting your miracle! ❤
Julia is a future actor. So engrossed by you and the filming crew 🤩
So sweet...little Julia couldn't take her eyes of yourself and then turning on cue to look at the camera.
So looking forward to the next installments of this make over.😍🥰🤩
👆congratulations you have been selected

As soon as I heard "popcorn ceilings" I thought uh-on that will mean asbestos... Glad the family will come home to a beautiful healthy home... You are an awesome story-teller Drew
What a beautiful and deserving family!! I’m so happy and excited for them! And now even grateful, too, because I’d hate for baby girl to grow in a home with a health hazard. Thank you for doing this for them!
You're one of my best friends and we never even met!! THE FUTURE IS CRAZY 😘 Thanks for service to humanity ❣️
Asbestos is nothing to mess with. Having a team come in and clean it up it a good thing. Especially with a newborn. After the abatement team is finished the home will be safe for Drew to continue. The family will breath healthy air and the parents will have peace of mind.
Lone Fox, as a decorator you should have known ahead that popcorn ceilings were done during a time when asbestos was used. It's a common knowledge thing. The other thing to keep in mind folks, is any home built before 1970 you can pretty much expect to find led base paint on it, especially on the exterior.
Oh my goodness, Drew, you have been BUSY! Between this full house makeover & your new home, do you ever sleep? Bless your sweet heart, what a very giving thing to do for one of your subscribers. I am so excited to see how this makeover turns out! Please don’t forget to take care of yourself, too! xo
Drew, You are the most talented designer. There is nothing I haven’t loved. You are also the sweetest, with an adorable shyness.
Drew how did you know we'd fall in love with this family??🥰 I'm crying!! 🥹
Flourescent! Its actually a gas in there. I guess supposedly has less eye strain and more efficient. We got LED types that are really bright, cheap and never need replaced and connect to each other for my sewing, crafting room (separate building). The family so nice and baby and dog so cute!
What a great family to choose! ❤️
Drew said they were the sweetest people ever and so easy to work with.
I did not know asbestos can be in popcorn ceiling 😮 This is so informative for DIY’ers.
So excited for the rest of the series.
I can't wait for everything to be sorted out so we can see how pretty it looks. Such a sweet family
Such a sweet family and a beautiful baby girl. Good choice, I love to see a family get blessed that truly will be so grateful for the help. New parents are so focused on learning how to parent and meet the babies needs…while falling in love more each day with their precious baby. They are so lucky to have your talent and energy to make over their family home. I can’t wait to watch the make over.
What a nice family and that baby seems totally enthralled with Drew. Kudos to you and Wayfair for doing this. Excited to see the progress!!
I’m so excited for this… only I suck at waiting! Ugh! I wish this was a Netflix binge situation. 😆
I agree also wish each video was 45 minutes, goes by so fast at 20 minutes!
I just about cried at that sweet little baby Julia flirting with you! She stared at you the whole time trying to catch your eyes! Just precious.
I cannot WAIT to see the next episode! That was a suspenseful ending Drew!!
So cute the baby couldn't take her eyes off you. I'm excited for them. I can't wait to see what you do
That was so much fun and then so intense...and you leave us hanging...haha LOVE IT!

Tube lights, Drew!! 😅😅 you’re too cute! What an adorable family - cannot wait to see you wrought your magic on this space! 😊😊
I’m going to have to watch this again to see Drew’s walk thru because this time I was fascinated by baby Julia and the huge windows! This is going to be a great series to watch.
You're like a guardian angel Drew. If not for you, who knows how long that sweet little family would have been living in a scary situation. Can't wait to see the makeover!

You did not just leave us with a cliffhanger! Damn... I must see the next one soon. My brain is going to explode running through all the scenarios that could happen. Help! Don't leave use like this Lone Fox!
Oh my gosh! That sucks that there was asbestos! On another note, can we talk about Baby Julia?!! What a gorgeous baby and she was so good, just watching Drew and the person filming! She is such a doll!!! I am so excited to see how it all turns out!
A small note on the bathroom cabinets…my friend had nearly identical cabinets in her 1970s house and she looked at replacing them but opted to keep because nothing she found was as sturdy and they were built custom for her house. Everything else seemed rickety in comparison. She just modernized the knobs and will eventually paint. Hers were newly painted so she opted to look at a new color down the road since, as we know, their is always something else that needs modernization!
What a ride ! 💖 I,m so pleased i found your channel Drew. Great design ideas, lovely people, cute baby and fluffy dog. Genius 😊
I’ve always wanted to see how Drew would design a nursery!! I can’t wait!!
What a beautiful job and what a lovely family! I'm so happy for them. 👏👏🌞 Drew you always do such a beautiful design job, you truly have a gift and this family was very deserving of a lovely makeover. I hope they enjoy their new home! 🏡 ❤️
It's going to be so fun seeing this happen. I love seeing your wheels turning as they take you through the home. I have to say it just kills me that tiled countertops are "in" again. We have had them from when they were "in" before and I have to say, having grout lines in kitchen and bath are just so unsanitary and hard to keep clean enough for food prep etc.
Beautiful house with a beautiful couple! And that baby was following you around with adoring eyes. :)

I have had to deal with a lot of asbestos issues over the years in both my residential and commercial design projects... many times we opted to completely tile over or cover over instead of removing... in some instances we had no choice but to remove... its never fun and a whole myriad of permitting and special suited and special containers later.... it gets done..
Man have I missed seeing you!! What a great couple, the babies eyes are beautiful. You’ve got almost a blank canvas. I can not wait to see how you work your magic on this home!!
What a perfect choice. I love the storyline and the family, and it's going to look incredible after you get your hands on it ♥

What a sweet family! Excited to tune into this series. Your barber smiling at the end like “glad this ain’t my problem” 😂 side note to the nerdy crowd: Ruggable had star wars themed rugs that are also aesthetic!!
All we do is joke!! I love going to see him because we have so much fun. Of course I didn't know how to react in this moment other than to laugh because I was talking about how well it was going before the call! 😂
Such a lovely family and your ideas look great! Years ago, we brought my newborn home to a big addition project. They found asbestos, which was very frightening. It's such a blessing that your team discovered this. The family could have tried to remove the popcorn, at some point, without realizing. Beautiful Baby Julia could not take her eyes off you! One angel recognizes another!
Omg obsessed!! This feels so professional like a Netflix series. I’m so so excited to see how everything continues
I can tell already that I’m going to love this. But please tell CZcams that not everyone who needs a makeover lives in California. Some of us live in Pennsylvania.
Lol yes! Here I am! 😄
