    Kitchen warming up-YES, mixed metals-YES, wood cabinetry-YES, No to open shelving or glass front cabinets for me, I never wanted that just for the simple fact of things are out, and you have to dust more. I have never been a trend follower, but I do like some of these as to me, they are more classic and stand the test of time. We don't have handles on our wood cabinets now and it's driving me nuts so may add those in our kitchen. You really packed the info into this one V! Thank you!

    I guess everyone has their thoughts for 2023. However the people I have been watching are saying dark moody colors are in. Green kitchens are still popular. White couches are out. Gray rooms are out. I guess it comes down to what you like.

  • @tiffanyrubenstein2341
    @tiffanyrubenstein2341 Před rokem +12

    I think that people renovate less because of trends and more as a reaction to what you last had in a space. So if your last kitchen had wood cabinets, it doesn’t matter that they’re on trend now, you want something different to what YOU last had. That’s why I will not entertain beiges and browns. I lived with it too long and it’s not welcome in my new home.

    • @Nochefairy
      @Nochefairy Před rokem +2

    • @Nochefairy
      @Nochefairy Před rokem

      I do not necessarily think she is jumping on trends I think she is just letting us know this is where trends are headed. She always says if makes you happy that us all that matters. Sometimes you are not going with the trends. This video kind of hit me a shock because this was the one time I didn't agree with a lot of trends for my style because of all the warm tones and creams. I did notice her kitchen still has a mix of cool tones with accents of warm tones. So I think she is putting this method into play. I mean the girl loves black so it not like she is going to fully do a warm kitchen.

    I upgraded my 1950s kitchen a few years ago and chose glass front cabinets for my top cabinets that sit on either side of the window and all the rest are closed. So for the glass front cabinets, I have my china and glassware neatly organized in them. I like the combination. The one thing I find I may want to change is the backsplash and range hood.

    For the past year, my husband and I have been building a new home, and we hope to move in at the end of March. I had never seen your channel before we decided to build, but have watched so many of your videos over the past year! They have really helped and influenced my design. In our last home, we had just done an addition and redid the kitchen and dining room five years before we decided to sell. I went with a rich, gorgeous dark laminate floor and similar wood-look laminate countertop, with cream cabinets (calming cream by BM), black hardware, and some glass cabinet doors. While I loved my previous kitchen, I found myself drawn to cooler tones and no glass cabinets, which really surprised me! While I love the look of open shelving, I can't part with the storage of cabinetry, and I like things to look clean and organized. I did do a large alcove with two thick slabs of wood for shelves in the dining area of the kitchen. All the cabinets in our new home are Ballet White by Benjamin Moore with matte black hardware, and the range hood is a very plain box, tricorn black, but with a ledge for a piece of art. So while it's kind of a statement hood, it is not large, and is simple even though it is in a contrast colour. There is a pantry which has a repurposed black french sliding door, and the sink is black. The laminate marble-look countertop is in soft tones similar to Ballet White. The tile is a textured pearlized subway tile. I find style changes so fast, that I have really worried over having a lasting, classic look. But when it came to making final decisions, I had to choose what I really loved.

I went with an alder cabinet stained a walnut, creamy granite countertop with small veins of brown and gray, 12x13 inch beautiful unique tube all the way to the ceiling. I have open shelving but I have a huge pantry to justify myself haha. I get so many compliments on my kitchen especially for the backsplash. Kitchen design is so fun and rewarding

    Love the clean look of these designs, and the marble with the wood is beautiful. However after having wood cabinets, marble counters in the bathroom, and no vent in the kitchen, I am one of those who would not commit for practicality reasons. I also am already tired of the black and white marble everywhere even though I loved it initially. I like the idea of adding warmer accents with wood and as you always say “elevating” and having a clean look. Love your channel and home!

    I love the way glass cabinets make a kitchen feel larger - especially when those cabinets are mindfully filled! If there is another side of the kitchen with closet cabinets up top & a pantry area, you can fit the non-aesthetic things in there. 😂🤍 Lower drawers are also so convenient for storing most kitchen things other than dishes/glasses!

    Such great information. I love my cabinets without handles. I don't like handles/knobs. One of the doors was in need of repair and I had such a hard time finding a wood worker in my area who had the tool to do that notch at the top. He said no one used that anymore. I even had our closet system drawers made with the push to open mechanism so I didn't have to have handles. Love the warmth of wood in the kitchen. My house was built in the 90's but in a higher end area of our city. I have some glass front cabinets that I love to keep my glassware and pretty cake stand in and they are still the original wood cabinets. When we remodeled our bathroom I painted the vanity BM Dove White and although I love that shade of white, I wished I had left the maple wood. I may have to remove the paint to get the wood look back.

    I love the limewash. I'm looking to do it for my kitchen, dark & moody in a sleek minimalist style. Lots of natural wood, rich greens and of course dark limewash. I have a smallish medium L- shape kitchen with a large window, so a lot of natural light. I feel like I'll get away with doing dark and moody. And I'm being bold by repeating the theme throughout the whole apartment, each room having their own complimentary colour scheme. Currently I'm light fresh airy with soft pastel tones and I just feel the rooms are too “echo-ey” and because of the white base tones the walls are bouncing the light everywhere making the room feel empty lifeless and drab. It's definitely time for that bold step. 😉

Black stainless steel appliances and sink. The biggest impact was changing a one window into three huge windows. Sunlight & nature right into the kitchen. Lots of functional & beautiful lighting. Also, the least expensive part of my kitchen is all the beautiful plants, palm trees, and even a lemon tree all nestled together near the double glass doors.

    i just moved into my new kitchen. I did white shaker uppers and adler wood shaker lowers and on the island with white quartz. I WAS going to leave the backsplash white but I did a poll on my socials and everyone voted for the aqua glass subway tiles. I live on the coast so the color palate just brings in the essence of the sea and landscapes. I LOVE my adler wood cabinets & island. definitely has the browns and a bit of black and maybe some gray undertones. But more than that, there are raw knots in some places. I love how rustic they are, mixed with the painted white uppers and sleekness of the white quartz.
    Oh, and one upgrade I made accidently, I had an empty 8" drawer next to the sink so I put my papertowels in it. A papertowel drawer! I haven't seen or heard that before

    I am OBSESSED WITH that one marble too! Aaah! However I don’t trust myself with marble. I’m currently designing my house (dream come true) and my kitchen is going to be black wood cabinets light warm tone granite (the louder the better to mimic the statement look of that viola marble) … the same material goes up the backsplash and up behind the range, so there’s really just two main materials- glass uppers with brassy fixtures / hardware and accents. With the hidden “panel” fringe and dishwasher… I feel like I’m so bad at describing it😂 but it’s going to be so contrasty and bold!!! it’s almost time to actually start the build and I’ve been dialing in the whole design of the house thanks to your channel- it’s going to be so fabulous!!! I was designing upmarket Cape Town kitchens with all of these trends in 2017/2018 already… in South Africa. Some other trends we have/had here: Walnut veneer was very popular then. Or Matt sealed oak that won’t yellow. Sintered porcelain (fire proof) countertops, usually faux marble texture 6-12mm thick. Quartz tops that are faux marble. Never real marble in kitchens - anything acidic will eat the surface (tomatoes and citrus) and sealing can be difficult. Fluted glass door fronts. Matt texture board cabinetry (gloss trend was 10 years ago). Most upmarket kitchens here have a separate combined scullery/laundry for sink dishwasher and laundry. Prep bowl in kitchen. Wall-in pantry’s if the house has space.

    I cook every day and still be able to keep everything clean and off the countertops 🤷🏼‍♀️ I get annoyed how people say women don’t cook when they have clean and organized kitchen

    Yes open shelving is too dusty, although just a small shelf for frequently used items is super handy

    Nothing like a quality wood cabinetry in the kitchen. My neighbor does custom cabinetry mainly in Buckhead and his work is so good he hasn’t advertised in years. I die when I see cheap cabinets now and cringe at our rental property with the painted cabinets from 2000, but hey it’s a rental. I am keeping my quality wood cabinets in my own home and appreciate them a lot more now that I know the value.

    I really hate open shelving. I didn't think I could hate it even more. But the shelf under the counter? I hate that even more. Glass cabinetry doesn't make it better. Why display clutter?! I don't like metal handles on pots and pans either. They always look like they're going to be hot. But I really like you Valentina.

    I'm voting NO to a lot of open shelving. Maybe just a small area or in the island but I doubt I'd like trying to keep them clean. Same for glass fronts. The finger prints alone would drive me crazy but also trying to keep the stuff inside neat and tidy. I'm a bit on the OCD side and do put things away in their places but still don't think I'd like too many. Maybe one or two cabinets with glass fronts for show piece items.

    Let's hide it all. Gotta Windex the glass front cabinets. Nope. Hide the plastic Disney kids cups. Average income people don't have that much nice stuff to display anyway 🤣

    Kitchens are beautiful pieces of sculptured joinery.
    In the Southern hemisphere, timber combined with marble has been a beautiful combination for quite some time, with finger pulls eliminating any other form of handles.
    French kiss to me.😘

    We did a total remodel of our kitchen last year, and I'm soo glad we went with beautiful dark wood cabinets and pantries! The counter is black granite with white & gold veining. The walls have swirled tiling in taupe, greys and white, with a rustic copper hood over the stove. Ours is a country lake house, so dark woods are warm and inviting. I could NEVER do glass-front cabinets or open shelves!🤦‍♀️ Oil-rubbed bronze or black continue to be my favorites for faucets and hardware. Both look great with rich wood colors.

    I have noticed you have your glasses up right & in the images you show, yet most people in the UK turn them the other way, so they do not collect dust in the glass 😊, just an observation 🇬🇧xx

    You’re knocking into it if the park with these great sponsors recently! I love my Caraway pot! Hurray for nontoxic! I have the dark blue. It looks great in my kitchen that has dark green walls and deep cherry wood veneer cabinets.😅
    I am not a fan of opening shelving because I don’t enjoy dusting. I don’t mind leaving my (clean) pots and pans on the stove, though. I usually leave them there to fully dry after I’ve hand washed them. Does that sort of count as open shelving maybe? :)

    I love how all the new trends coming back like wood cabinets, stainless steel he, etc. The only one I absolutely can’t do is the downdraft vents. It looks nice, clean & open. After having lived in 2 homes with downdraft vents and eventually converting them, it just isn’t practical if you moderately cook.

      I cook every day and have had a downdraft for 2- years. Never had any issues. I'm actually quite happy to see the big, oversized hoods going off-trend. They always remind me of Tuscan kitchens.

    I think one or Two "Feature" Glass Cabinets are fine.. and put the rest behind doors.
