How To Clear A Clogged Carburetor Jet FAST | Honda ATC 200ES Big Red

  • After the maiden voyage with the 1984 Honda ATC 200ES Big Red, it was time to show her some love with our new cleaning toy, and figure out our fuel issue. I had to keep the choke on most of the time for it to run, and it would not start when cold.
With the uni air filter in great condition we dive into the carburetor with the expectation of finding a clogged jet. Sure enough, they were both clogged. The pilot was the main culprit with a complete blockage but the main was heavily varnished as well.
After using a few different methods and looking over the rest of the carb we reinstalled it in the trike and she runs like a dream!

FYI to clean jet ports you can use torch tip cleaning wire set. But you cant use too big of one or it can bind up and snap off in the jet. I use them and work great.

Nice video, as always! Little tip: When using foam cannon, put the soap on before any water and let it "hang" on the thing you are washing for some minutes(be careful in sunlight) - Then use the pressure washer to wash it off. It helps disolve the dirt

On the Japanese carbs they usually have JIT screws in them, not phillips. If they have a dot on the head, they are JIT. Use a JIT driver and you wont strip them as easy (they have a different angle on them from phillips heads).

Not good practice to jam wire into jets. you can actually resize the jet and or ruin the shape of the inside slightly by doing so. just be patient and let it soak in carb cleaner over night.
