Fixing The 1984 ATC! | Alexis Rides Big Red Through A Creek

- Clifford The Big Red ATC is having some issues again, but instead of taking him to the vet we were able to bring him back to full health in the shop using some basic principles of how an engine is supposed to function.
First we checked to see if we had spark, we did but as you can see in the video it was not firing correctly and causing detonation. So instead of buying another plug we wasted time adjusting the valves, cam chain tension, and making sure our timing was set correctly.
Thankfully all of those things needed to be done anyway and after throwing in a fresh spark plug she ran like new again! Afterwards we hit the fields for some farm fun on this old 1984 death machine. My girlfriend Alexis even hops on and has some fun riding through a creek and attempting some wheelies.
#Honda #ATC #BigRed - Zábava
I used a 200 just like yours to do my paper route back in the day ...so much helmetless fun ..🤘🇨🇦😁
That’s epic haha!
Cool video, thanks for sharing….. the Big Red looks like a lot of fun !
Another sweet video guys cant wait for more looked fun keep them coming
those were some pretty nice wheelies ngl and the big read is runnin pretty mint
3 wheelers for life i love my 250sx super fun
I got the same ATV. Now I want to get it running again after watching your videos.
Lol I love u guys…never change!
Man I just picked up a 1987 honda fourtrax 250! "RONDA" addition lol. It's so much fun! Awesome machines !
Am I the only one that assumes the gap closed when the plug hit the floor
Yea, rhe spark plug gap closed in the drop. I've done it before 😁
Good job, runs great 👍 price just went up.
Excelente video gracias
The claps made me laugh so hard! 😂😂😂
Love your vids
That looks like fun - she looks like an old pro . I have an 84 200es sitting in my garage with carb issues . Every one of these videos makes me wanna gitter out and fixer up . She's got one small crack in the fr fender but in good shape otherwise . Nice video .
Hey Bryan I have a good friend that restores these carbs for $90 and gets them back to you better then new... If you are still thinking about it let me know, if you are thinking about selling let me know as well..
Not bhaddd not bhaddd at all on the stunt work !
Elky even having a crack awesome to see
For a second at 8:00 mins in I thought you were riding a chariot. 🤣👍🏽
Want to buy one to have as a toy at my fathers Homestead when I visit. 1000km and back is a long way tho when you dont own pickup truck :D
A Big Red isn't a Big Red without a milk crate on the front rack!
I put an ammo box on mine
i haven't been here this early in a while😂
The more I look at your rear tires, the more I think they could be the last of the Big Reds 86' tires.. My Father owned that model and the main difference was the grey colored dash where the neutral and reverse lights are and those rear tires. They were bad for pulling you off the trails in winter. As soon as the tire would hook up once they caught the softer snow off the packed trails..
I wouldnt worry too much about that cam chain/ valve noise it doesnt seem to be too loud ive had alot of these old suckers and they just tick!
I had one of these back in the 80s. My dad took it away from me one time because I skinned my back a little from doing wheelies.
I’m so jealous of that big red, man. Missed out on a real nice one in my area it was gone 3 hours after it went up for sale. Getting tougher to find!
I'm lookin too.
If you only had the ‘85-‘86 Big Red 250... Super low 1st gear, lean back, nail it, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, all day wheelies across the fields! Balance the pressure in the rear tires and you could wheelie to your heart’s content! Two up, up a hill, even better!
Why do you have the tread pattern direction on the rear tires opposite between left and right?
Left tire is mounted the wrong direction too, I'm sure you noticed🤙🍻
You are correct!
Fuckin loving ya videos pal your super lucky in the rite enviroment for off road playing
The big reds were awesome machines in their day.
Still are lol
Just got a 83 Honda Big Red 200E. Stoked to have it for hunting.
@@trevorgomez3343 still got it? Still use it?
They were 30 years ahead of their time easily if not more!!! The cheap Chinese crap that is being produced doesn't last more than 2-3 years if you are lucky! You can take an original big red that has been sitting for 20 years and get it to run easily with a carb clean and tank flush and new fuel lines.
You should be drinking milk (or other beverage)out of the crate as you slow wheelie. Lolol
Is the left rear tire on backwards?
you're right, left rear tire is on backwards. it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Tactical 😂🤣 lexis im calling the school they might wana take that diploma back lol jk
Fun video! I have a 1985 250sx with limited edition green plastics and a clark tank. My favorite toy in the woods and even have the honda snowplow attachment. Keep the three wheel vids (and all the others) coming.
The Big Red, you shouldn't sell it, let Alexis have it. Tanner, using a Philips when you should be using a JIS screwdriver!
Never ridden a 4 wheeler, come on Alexis lol
It's all about the wheelies
Does that thing have an oversized header on it ? It certainly doesn't look like the wimpy stock header that I'm used to seeing
Still riding mine and my 83 yamaha
The old plug looks carbon fouled. and of course it gets into the mud.
Check out BVC racing dirt bikes converted to three wheelers pretty cool
Just found that channel, I love it.
Mmmm maybe when you dropped the spark plug it closed the gap? Mmmm I don’t know 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Shift while wheelieing will look sick
Well there’s the problem, there’s no spark plug gap, after he drops it on the floor and closes the the plug gap 😂😂
Can anyone tell me the model of this front tire please. I love the tread pattern but I can’t seem to find it?
I am not sure to be honest! She's sold!
wheelie clap wheelie, ill go home and see if i can get more claps than you!!! hahahaha
Are you sure that old plug wasn't too long and was just barely touching the piston?
Love this shit
I dont understand how plugs just stop working. my cr125 would barely start, and then run like trash. I swapped the plug with a new one, no spark at all. after many hours of frustration and working on other stuff a 2nd new plug fixed it...
You probably didn't have the spark plug cap on all the way. Or you have an intermittent issue going on.
In your vid you said you wanted to upgrade to a 250ES (which is a Big Red)... did you mean the 250SX ? If so that is a great machine! I had the 250SX back in the day when 3 wheels was the only way to fly! Coming from a couple of Yamy Tri-motos the Honda was a dream!
LuvMyTJ 250ES Big Red is correct and a big upgrade also! 250SX was sweet also. Hard to beat the 200X for wheelie time or sno-nuts!!! PS... I LuvedMyTJ til I sold it for 4Runner #7👍🏻
Is that a aftermarket exhaust?
Can't change gears in a wheelie? Looks fun!
I almost have the same trike
Alexis has a cute bottom but not enough to weigh the tail end down to do a wheelie lol.
You're fun to watch Lexy.
I read your comment as Harvey Weinstein in my head
Did I miss when the tyres got put around the wrong way ? Lol
I expect to see that bike float are at some deep water
Ha ya my guess was fire or timing . Sounded weird
Do u think dropping the plug closed the gap ? Back to the video now lol
Is that stock exhaust
New nickname ATC STUNTS lol it is a nice running 3wheeler sell it and get the ole 2stroke ATC
For the next video you should take all of the dirt bikes and take them for a rip
That gap will not close when firing, it would be impossible for that to happen.
You dropped the plug....THATS what closed it...
Negative haha it did it a few separate times.
Not to repeat, but try a 200X.
Probably hard to find.
I use to have 83 200x but I don't have it now
Bolt is m3x0.5
Spark plugs dont last change it it will fire right up
You dropped the spark plug is how the gap closed right.
Yep!
Let her ride the Big Red....
lmao
I wanna see her make wheelies
3 wheeler is meant to ride on 3 wheels but kids will be kids
Life is what you make it, do what makes you happy.
Please have her wear a helmet :)
Yea 3 wheelers are so fun and seem relatively safe when putting around but can roll and crush the skull in the blink of an eye. Be safe.
@@Monjar3 remember: it's not the machines fault, it's the drivers
Ithink she likes it
where is the 250
The thing wont start cause the inlet valve is not closing cause the inlet valve seat is stuffed.Needs head work ,problem will come back. The spark plug gap can only be closed if it collides with piston.... Detonation ???....utter crap
Lol!
When the Amish get into atvs😂
Great job but do more balancing with your body instead of sticking your leg out it's not good to do that you'll end up tearing your ACL or blowing your knee out or your leg or something or your ankle😃
More 150rb videos
hahah i have 2 big reds and 1 yamaha 250 shaft! fun but you're too sacred to do real wheelies.
Are you sure?
@@AdventureDaily honestly NOO!! but i mean relax on the big red and, not rear end touch.. you're bike wheelies are sick!
The bolt that you need to go down in the Cam chain adjustment is a 3 mm by point 5 thread pitch it's a metric bolt you needed to be about 2" thread it in through the nuts get a pair of players pull up on it pushed down on it pull backup on it and tighten the bolt while you're pulling up on it
I finally got it figured out!
U should get the 250ex and a 200x
Out
That is a 200ES not a 250
Sorry. I mis-heard what you said
Need to stop watching your video's i am going nuts not being able to ride trails right now 😒
