What makes the Redeye the Redeye?
The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is made up of ingredients from other Dodge Challenger models, namely the Hellcat Widebody and the drag-race-inspired Demon. The Redeye gets the Demon's larger supercharger on a beefed-up 6.2-liter V8 with 808 horsepower. But it does not get the Demon's massive single-scoop hood or available high-octane fuel tune that allows it to make 840 hp. The Redeye has a mere 797 horses.
How fast does the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye do 0-60 mph?
Dodge says the Redeye runs 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and clears the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 mph. That's 4 mph faster than the Hellcat Widebody, which covers the same distance in 10.9 seconds.
Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye available with a manual transmission?
Sadly, no. While you can get a six-speed manual transmission in a Hellcat, the Redeye can only be had with an eight-speed automatic because Dodge doesn't have a manual rated for 707 pound-feet of torque.

I have a '19 Scat Pack and I don't agree with her assessment it tries to impress you because it, too doesn't have too either. 485 horses, though 312 less than the Redeye isn't anything to play with. I'ts just hyper. The first three gears are low, the trans shifts real quick and if you go deep into the throttle, the engine will rev to 5-6000 instantly.
If the price is a problem, then you have an income problem.

SRT seats are very comfortable, she doesn't like them because she's so small and does not fit them well. I'm an average size guy and the seats in my Challenger are very nice and I like them a lot. Actually they are one of the highlights of SRT interior but she was right about one thing concerning the seats, they're not just race or luxury but are perfectly in between
Agreed. I bought an 18 hc wb with tons of options i did not want, but they had it, so i bit. The freaking seats are AMAZING!!!
I have a '19 Scat Pack and these seats are amazing. Way nicer than my '09 300. I couldn't find a comfortable seating position in the 300 and was always changing it, but once I found one in the Scat, I set it and left it alone.

@BKD Vickers The stats I'm finding is a stock Jeep Trackhawk has a 0-60 time of 3.5 secs which is damn quick but a Tesla Roadster's 0-60 is 1.9 - hard to beat that 100% torque at 0 RPM. "Can be bought" doesn't mean stock. *Stock* means it came from the factory and was bought off a showroom floor and runs on pump gas, not sent to some aftermarket shop to be modified. The Hennessy Trackhawk not only isn't a stock vehicle, it needs 109 octane fuel to run - which isn't available at any gas station I've ever seen. And it's still slower than a Tesla Roadster.
*"...They are just more fun without using them for racing...."* - This I don't disagree with. I'd rather have a pristine 454 C3 Vette or Hemi Cuda than any electric car.

So essentially, the Redeye answers the "can I drive the Demon on the road?" question.
Actually it’s the way they tuned them. The hellcat Redeye also has a higher top speed. Whereas the demon is more of a drag car. It has a much faster 0-60 and a much faster quarter mile time.

I purchased a 2019 widebody scatpack about a month ago. Drove it for 2 weeks. Everyone under the sun wanted to race. They would pull next to us reving thier engines trying to race. Well that got old quick. I had the dealership locate me a Redeye widebody scatpack. Having Drive both cars. You can feel the difference like night and day. I am happy with our decision to pay the diffrence in price to have a more powerful fun car to drive. Scatpack was awesome but the Redeye can just do so much more.

Sorry to say, only one flaw there! "You can only get this as automatic, the same that goes with Hellcat, because it is the only transmission that can hold that amount of torque" Well, Hellcat, the 707 and 717 you can get the Challenger with manual transmission. BUT the Charger Hellcat and Challenger Demon however, only uses the automatic transmission. Otherwise, it was a darn good Redeye clip. :)

Elana has some nice features herself. I saw a video of the normal hellcat on the nurburgring and it seems like it handles adequately.
Its not a wide body. Its fender flares.
A real wide body would have the panels fatten to look like thicker hips.

Glad to see you back in action Elana (we all loved your contributions at RK). You're a total California Valley Girl that could beat most people at the drag strip without a fuss. Edmunds made two fantastic decisions by bringing you and Carlos on -- hopefully there will be opportunities for you two to collaborate on some peer vehicle review/comparisons.
I'm glad I have that color on my 2018 SXT... v6. Not a hellcat but my love car.
While I believe every true American loves the idea of driving an iconic car like the Challenger with these truly high horsepower ratings, the reality is something very different. Most Americans can barely handle a vehicle with have that much power. I'm guessing that the whole focus of Dodge in producing these power-beasts is to promote sales to those few folks who want to do track time in addition to whatever passes for daily driving. I could be wrong in my assessment. Now, that said... would I want to own a Red Eye or Hellcat? Oh, hell yeah! But, then I'm an old guy who would reliving the glory days of muscle-car mania of the late 60's up to 1970!

I have a 2018 Scat Pack Shaker and I agree with her that thing just wants you to stomp the gas and go. It does not like to be driven under 45 and she will let you know she does not like it. I love my Scat!!

My dad has the 18 scat pack shaker and he has the Napa leather and cloth seats and they are the most comfortable on market. Plus the heating and cooling option is nice too😏

Yeah alright, you go to a Chrysler dealership and try even 707 hp with a manual. There's a reason they're still on dealership lots. Because it's fucking terrifying, because 707 hp in Pennsylvania January almost got the better of Doug Demuro, because very few people believe in their own god-complex hype that much to even consider an SRT Redeye at all.

I don't really have a problem with the $90,000 dollar price tag. You can spend $90,000 and get a challenger hellcat or you can spend 250,000-$1,000,000+ to get an exotic hyper car that makes the same horsepower. This car isn't cheap, but you are getting a better value for your dollar then you would if you were buying an exotic. This car is probably the best value for your dollar next to the 2018 LFP Mustang which is about 42,000 which is basically a supercharged base Mustang GT. If you really care about the price tag, there are second hand Hellcats retailing for around 50-65K on Autotrader and Car-Gurus. Dodge makes the best value for your dollar period.

The reason to buy the redeye is easy, investment potential. Good to see Elana she probably has more actual seat time in one of these cars than most journalists and even a lot of owners.
