Since his tragic death, I've wanted to know more about this faithful servant of God. I've listened to his voice, his talks & like this session, have learned from this holy man qualities of our Faith lived daily for all, the poorest, most hurting human beings. Bishop Dave's commitment to shepherd his flocks thru difficult times is so rich in compassion as Christ Himself gives to us all. My heart is broken to hear his voice & know he is no longer among us. I know he rests in God's peace. May he bless us from his place in Heaven. Amen.
Very difficult subject to preach on, even more for a bishop who never had anything to do with child sexual abuse. My heart goes out to all priests who are true to the example set by Our Divine Lord.
There allways has to be a sacrifice for things to change. BISHOPS OCONNAL new this was not afraid to put him self out there. Pray for us .And the Priest and the people that have fear. Man up make JESUS PROUD.
Wow that story he told of the mother who lost her daughter at the hands of her other son with addiction is similar to his as he was murdered . Clearly he became a victim of the very people he loved and served and that makes him alike Our Lord who died on the hand of those he served and loved. May he be in the presence of his first love and for whom he gave his entire life.
Yes, I got shivers when Bishop Dave mentioned the word murder .. it seems he was predicting something that unforeseeably would happen to him being mudered .. Remembering the late Princess Diana when she too mentioned that she would be killed in a car crash ..

On the priests most people do not think like GOD he is the JUDGE. WE CONDEM OUR SELFS IF WE JUDGE. IS FORGIVNESS THROUGHN OUT THE DOOR. WE HAVE BEEN INFILTRATED BY EVIL. IM ANGREY AT THE SITUATION BUT ALL I CAN DO IS PRAY AND KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT.
Since Vat II we "concelebrate" the Mass. Yippee!! Well, this is more Vat II worship, hoccus pocus. So prior, we were doing it all wrong, now that we've gotten it "right" - well, there goes our nunneries, our Catholic hospitals, our respect in the community, our priestly vocations, our Mass attendence, our low divorce rates, our low abortion rates, our actual belief in the same Eucharist rightly points to as the "source and summit of our faith" (the Church's words, but echoing her basic sentiment) IF getting it "right" looks like that, let's go back to getting it wrong.
No we don't need women in leadership in the church. Men are the spiritual leaders. And how clueless can you be when you don't know or understand women can never be priest. I'm glad he wasn't my bishop.
@@marykotalik7161 If the pope was married , he would know that he is not infallible and if a woman was pope the thought of being infallible would never have entered into her head . Give the woman a go to reform our Church !
