- Friends, we’re getting very close to Pentecost, the great feast of the descent of the Spirit. And on this Sixth Sunday of Easter, the Church gives us three readings that are hinting at the Holy Spirit-a kind of foretaste of that descent.
Mass Readings:
Reading 1 - Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48
Psalm - Ps 98:1, 2-3, 3-4
Reading 2 - 1 Jn 4:7-10
Gospel - Jn 15:9-17

I have followed you, Bishop Baron, ever since “Catholicism” PBS shows. I used to think how courageous is this priest. You strengthened my faith. But till this day i still think… Who are you? Every time i listen to you, even though i have heard the readings so many times before, i learn and rejoice in the new message you provide. You are full of the holly spirit. God bless you.
I just finished Bishop Baron!!!! We must be on the same algorithym
Amen
I learn much as well, even though I heard these readings this weekend!
Thanks for your speech on the Holy Spirit!
Agreed
I'm so thankful, Bishop Barron, that you make your Sunday sermons freely available to everyone.
[62] And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. [63] And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all. [64] And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God. [65] And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.
Luke 1 : 62-65 Peace be upon you. I hope you ask the priest what the 8-day-old boy did so that the mountains of Judea would talk about him and those present would marvel at him. 4. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his country, among his relatives, and in his own house.”
5. And he was not able to do any power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
(Mark, 6) Why couldn't Christ perform a miracle?
Yes, thank you!
My husband is dying, & I struggle with joy right now. But oh, God does live in me. Thank you!
Sending compassion and sincere tenderness . I know what you are living and I’m sorry . Allow me to say , as you go through this, lean into the love fully … lean , lean .
I’m so sorry for the pain and loss to come. I truly hope for his joy and peace with God in heaven.
I will pray for you at this most difficult time. The love you have had with your husband makes the pain of losing him worthwhile. God is LOVE. Hold on to that during this time of suffering!
❤ Lord Jesus, the Divine Physician, we lift up those in need of healing. May Your grace and love bring wholeness and peace to their lives through Christ our Lord. Amen.
❤
I am praying for your husband and for you❤
Lord I know you have a purpose for me. Even though at times I do not understand. I have complete trust in you Heavenly Father. Being a single mom with two children with special needs is overwhelming at times. Every month is a struggle to get by. But as I struggle to pay rent and as I struggle to buy groceries for my children. I keep faith. Faith is all I have left. I WILL NEVER STOP TRUSTING THE LORD. God give me strength. 💕
God bless you 🙏
Amen. Praying for you. But mostly thanking God for the Faith and love He has given you. Stick to Him. And He will do the rest.
I pray 🙏🏽 to God for you . He knows your needs better than I could . In Jesus name Amen.
God sends the greatest suffering to those he loves the most.
If I live a million years and each day give away the unconditional love God has given me, I would not reach the end.
I'm so sorry, Jesus, for all my sins. I'm so sorry. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. 🙏🏼 Jesus I trust in you always.
A lot of times when I say the rosary, I say it with Bishop Barron. I have some of his books and it’s amazing when I read the words, I hear him, his cadence and the way he speaks come through to me. I am one of the lucky ones, who now can call him MY bishop… he is now Bishop of my diocese. How we are blessed!!
Make the best out of this blessing
Indeed you ARE BLESSED to have him as your Bishop❤😊.
Truly blessed!
May God bless you Bishop Barron.❤️ I will pray for you.
Praise the Lord! The Holy Spirit Renew the face of the Earth!! Hallelujah!!!
I have never seen a better example of the Holy Spirit at work than when the Bishop speaks. Hallelujah 😊 Thank you Bishop for your work, may God continue to work through you
Amen ❤
"The Holy Spirit IS the love that God is."
I’ve just discovered Bishop Baron. What a preacher and more so teacher. The presentation on Thomas Aquinas blew me away. It met the listener rather than impressed the listener like my professor who introduced Thomas Aquinas long ago. Bishop Baron wishes to instruct and impart knowledge, share knowledge and above all instill the confidence to grasp it and make it one’s own. I hope teachers and professors are observing how Bishop Baron so modestly and simply presents his subject. I recall facing philosophy class with such trepidation. Thank you so much , Bishop Baron for making philosophy for everyone.
In gratitude to Bishop Barron for God’s amazing work and for Word On Fire!
Oh, that must be why you always start your daily gospel reflection with "friends" in the emails! 🥰 As always, a beautiful sermon. ❤
Peace with all my brothers in christ
Please, God!
Please continue to pray for Ukraine🙏. We've been suffering from Russia for so many years 😢
Glory to Ukraine! The USA will never abandon the Ukraine!!!!
@SS-zg6of We know that!
Thank you, dear brothers and sisters!
God bless all of you and your country 🙏 ❤️
Amazing to think that the Russian Church is firmly behind Putin's invasion and war on Ukraine. This is something utterly non Christian. Pray for the Russian Orthodox Church, especially its leadership. They must repent from this terrible heresy.
We pray for peace ❤
Pray Ukraine leaves nato to the other countries and Russia won’t be a threat to anyone
The Catholic Church found its pulse again.
Well done Bishop Barron!
I love your exuberance & JOY in this sermon!
"Shout it from the rooftops what I whisper to you in secret." ✝️ 🕊
Every time I listen to your sermons Bishop it makes me fall in love more with the Catholic faith. God’s unconditional and conditional love makes perfect sense to me
Bishop Barron, I love your sermons. I just converted this year and I’m excited for what The Lord has in store.
God I am a sinner. Have mercy on me.
Billy, yes we are all sinners. But please keep this in mind: Yes, God loves you, even though you constantly sin...BUT, that really isn't the question....the question for you, for all of us, is... do we love God, how much do we love God?! Meaning...God loves us even though we offend him, but what do we do to try and give that love back? Do we do EVERYTHING we can, do we ask him ..to make us stop offending Him. We expect Him to 'give us the gifts' to 'do something for us' to help us stop sinning...but do we submit to Him do we do our part to chase after Him instead of that sin we are attached to?? There is no way we can do it ourselves, on our own...we have to truly, truly, truly, in our hearts, enough that it might kill us, to turn away from that sin. Remember, there are those who say 'God loves me anyway'....well then, He does, but at the end He is going to say you chose that over me. Keep fighting, keep trying and He will accept that, you will be His..'live in the Holy Spirit's not in the darkness 'on my own I can do nothing, but with you, I can do everything!'. "JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU" - please look up Divine Mercy devotion
Joy and friendship with God must mark all Christians. Something we must work on everyday, through prayer, patience, and seeking to be holy.
Listening to Bishop Barron makes the Christian faith so beautiful.
Can't say the same about the Pope (who invites Gavin Newsom to speak about climate). Ah, but we should forgive him
Come Holy Spirit
Fill The Hearts Of The Faithful,
Enkindle The Fire Of Your Love.
In Jesus Name
Amen
Saint Bede the Venerable, PRAY FOR US!
GOD BLESS US ALL
God bless Bishop Barron, Amen
It's so good to hear a Roman Catholic pastor teaching truth.
Thank you Bishop Barron for a wonderful homily!
What A Friend We Have in Jesus, like the song tells us. Bishop Barron, your words always reach my soul. With Daily and Sunday Sermons I am always listening to and being lifted by your messages and daily scripture. God is with you as He is with me but still I ask God to bless you richly.
"Only Christianity says that God is love ... The Holy Spirit is the love that God is ..." *- Bishop Barron*
Happy Ascension Thursday! May God bless Word on Fire! ❤️🙏❤️
Jesus,I trust in you
Amen❤❤❤
This homily reenforces what is true about our faith. There should be no grumpy Catholics. Joy is a sign for all to see the Holy Spirit is behind and in the works we perform for our brothers and sisters. This is truly an indication of love blended together with joy.
Thank you for the beautiful sermon Your Excellency.
My newborn is getting baptized next Sunday, on the Feast day of the Ascension of our Lord.

Amen Peace and Blessings. Thank you Bishop Barron. Easy to follow and understand
I am a devout catholic and I speak in tongues pentecostal style every day. It happened for me by surrendering and seeking a direct experience with Jesus.
Brilliant & True!Thank you, God, for Bishop Barron!
i felt the Holy Spirit when listening to this message. This is beautiful. I have grown to love the Holy Spirit deeply and i get so excited to hear Bishop Barton’s messages on the Holy Spirit
Love the line, What is it that God does?
He enjoys himself!
May I remain in the Spirit, giving thanks to God!
It seems the Christian notions of joy is different than secular notions of joy in many ways. I believe Mother Teresa was always joyful - even doing very difficult work; and all the while being in a spiritual "Dark Night of the Soul" she remained Happy to serve God and the poor.
God Bless you Bishop Barron and thank you for this channel that all can hear the Truth!
What does God do all day? Enjoy himself - that's the Spirit!
Thanks be to God, for His love endures forever. 🙏🏻
Love is God. And the Holy Spirit is God. To keep God's commandments and have his joy, means you have the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much, Bishop Barron, for this teaching.
I said before and I'll say it again. Even if all you said was "Peace be with you", I would still tune in. Thank you once again for a beautiful homily your Excellency ✝️🙏.
Being friend of God… amazing!
His love be with us all!!!
Thank you Bishop Barron. I agree , nothing can make people more curious today than someone with a joyful spirit. What a wonderful way to evangelize. Letting God radiate through our joyfulness.
Thank you, Bishop. Your sermon helped me.
Thank you Bishop I will try to show God's joy at work ! Thank you for your explanation of today's readings. May God continue to bless you. DECOLORES .YOUR SISTER IN CHRIST
Thank you Bishop Barron for another beautiful sermon of the works of Holy Spirit in us
Joy, joy, joy. God is love and love is joy. Thank you Bishop Barron, may God fill your heart with joy and love, amen
There are many gifts God gives his servants when it is needed something greater.
Sometimes the gift is just the ability to inspire people to not feel alone, or hopeless, but to have a reason to see a new day, and to do so with love in their hearts, faith and truth in their mind.
“Christians should be joyful”. Beautiful and so true! Thanks once again Bishop Barron 🙏🙏
VERY VERY POWERFUL SERMON. Thank you Bishop Barron. You inspire me every time again. 🙏🌱
Many thanks Bishop Barron. Every time I listen to you, I learn quite a lot. May the Lord continue to bless you with the wisdom and knowledge you always share with us.
“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you will renew the face of the earth”
Thank you Bishop Barron!
God bless you!!🙏🏻❤️🕊🌟🎶
Bishop, I've been listening to and learning from your wonderful homilies and other teachings for years now, but this is truly one of your best. Thank you for sharing God's gifts to you with the world. May he bless you to continue to do so for many years to come.
Thanks be to God for another insightful homily. Bishop Barron masterfully reminds us that the Holy Spirit is the result of God's love, and keeping in step with the Holy Spirit, we are called to be the manifestation of the love God experiences in the Trinity. And we should be filled with joy that God, Who, in the words of St. Thomas Aquinas, enjoys Himself, is dwelling in us through the Holy Spirit, the result of His love.
Amen! It is like a dynamite that deeply convicted me hearing this sermon about the Holy Spirit🔥🔥🔥Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Love is the center of reality itself.
I have been knocking and seeking and the Lord has revealed Himself and His treasures through Bishop Barron. Thank You Lord.
Here at St Mary’s of Uxbridge, MA NE , we listen to Bishop Barron at Bible study every week for many years . I pray Bishop Barron will be the first Pope from United States. He’s got all the credentials ✝️🙏🏽
Peace be with you
I feel the more I pray the more I receive God’s love and bask in it. I tell the Lord You are mine and I am yours…..but I will share you with everyone.
Always beautiful to listen to you Bishop!🙏
Thank you ….your sermons bring me closer to God. 🙏
Hi Bishop Barron. Thank you for one more great homily. I loved the link you made between Love and the Holy Spirit.
A very good sermon on the existence of the Holy spirit in a Christian. You are validating the existence of the Spirit through the gift of joy.
Love, when it breaks out, is the most extraordinary thing.
-Bishop Robert Barron
Oh so true , “ when it breaks out” , it moves mountains , heals, and brings utter joy to the giver and the recipient , hands down . It’s the elixir, it is all and the reason why we are here , survive and thrive . I have had the grace my whole life . Should I die today , absolutely have had the most beautiful and extraordinary life through love ! Love my triple B!
Thank you, Bishop Baron for giving assurance of God's grace, hope, and love
Thank you Bishop Barron. You are a good shepherd ✝️
Thank you for your sustained dedication to the Kingdom of God in the Church
Thank you Bishop
Gracias Bishop Baron to listening to your calling and share with us your gifts… praying for your always God bless you
Thank you Bishop Barron! Peace...
BEAUTIFUL Homily Bishop Barron. Thank You .
Wow! Thank you Bishop Barron.
Trinity: lover(Father), beloved(Son), share love(Holy Spirit).
Divine love always comes first.
Holy Spirit is given to us.
“Joy”comes from “sharing love”-Holy Spirit.
What a glorious day. This is the day the Lord has blessed. My heart is overflowing with gratitude and love ❤️ ❤❤❤😊
A most wonderful sermon and my purest sense is telling me it’s spot on! LOVE is truly the only Truth that matters. All Existence comes from it and nothing can long endure without it. GOD wonderfully and simply…is love.
Profound Joy!!!!
I believe that the Holy Spirit calms me enough to write or speak the words that need to be said. Otherwise, I struggle with it. What's funny about that to me is that I graduated with a bachelor of arts in communication-theater with a minor in psychology. It was Grace that helped me meet people in my work experiences to receive a Master's Degree in Organizational Psychology with a focus on Educational Leadership. How do I get to use it? Operating a shuttle at a busy airport. And that's more Grace. That's how I'm relating to this homily. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Thank you Bishop Barron and May God Bless You!
Amen. Come Holy Spirit! 🕊 "Spare me joyless Christians..." ~ Bishop Barron. Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls..." ~Mother Teresa. 💙🙏
Wow, thank you SO much for what you said about Joy! 🙏🏼❤️👏🏼
I'm a convert, and it has broken my heart on more than one occasion the type of attitude that I have witnessed in the pews on a pretty regular basis.
I needed to hear this a great deal as well.
Thanks so much, and God bless you Bishop!
Warm greetings from Australia 🦘 Absolutely brilliant and inspiring homily! Why, oh why can't we hear these types of homilies in my local parish? Thank God for Bishop Barron and CZcams! There is a real hunger for Catholic spiritual knowledge. Priests need to lift their game.
Totally agree. I'm a lifetime practicing Catholic (now almost 70), and unfortunately a majority of parish priests deliver lukewarm, insipid homilies week after week, taking the greatest Good News ever told and making it--of all things--boring! 😱 So sad. People hunger to hear good preaching, to understand how to apply the scriptures to living out the Christian faith on a daily basis. If that were provided weekly in every Catholic church, the pews would be packed instead of half empty. 😢
@@sandyv2195 thank you Sandy! Yes, totally agree. I have only just returned to the Catholic faith about 6 months ago (I'm a convert from last century!). However going to Church has been disappointing at times. Dealing with other Catholics has also been disappointing. Sorry for sounding negative. There is a lack of enthusiasm and passion. There is a lack of Catholic knowledge. Education is generally left to the devices of the individual. Eg. The Catholic Church has RCIA programs but NO programs for reintegration of reformed/reverted Catholics. I think that's bizarre. Some of the great Catholic CZcams resources are Fr. Chris Alar and Dr. Brant Pitre.
Thank you for your help.
The truth is right there in the Gospel, and it is GOOD NEWS.
The greatest joy is hope! Hopelessness is the greatest evil.
“Hope sees what it aims for as already it’s possession, then gathers all it’s forces (prayer) to it’s success.” A quote from Fr. Maturin
Deo gratias
Thank you always .
When I listen to your teachings
Bishop Baron I feel the Holy Spirit upon me, you have been my spiritual mentor ever since I listen you for the first time many years ago, how wonderful to see that God has blessed you with the power of Love in Jesus name.
Lord give me joy and friendship by following you and opening up my soul to receive the Holy Spirit
Thank you Bishop Barron ✝️🙏
God bless you, Bishop Barron. Greetings from Mexico.
When we see joyous groups of people today we immediately wonder whether they're all drunk or high on something. That's exactly what skeptics thought when they saw Peter and the apostles on Pentecost Day two millenniums ago. (Acts 2:13.) In his reflection on the three readings, Bishop Barron zeroes in on the one phenomenon that will baffle skeptics today -- joy. (I Thess: 5:16.)
That’s wonderful! God bless you, Bishop! Thanks be to the Lord🥰
Bless you too Your Grace thank you
