The US has accused Russia of using chemical weapons in Ukraine. The US says that Russia is using a banned substance called chloropicrin. Chloropicrin is a chemical that can cause irritation to the eyes, lungs and skin, and it can also cause nausea and vomiting. The US has imposed new sanctions on Russian firms involved the country's chemical weapons programmes. Washington has also sanctioned companies that it accuses of helping Moscow evade earlier sanctions, including about 20 Chinese firms. But will these new restrictions really stop Russia? Russia seems to be focused on a new offensive in Ukraine. The city of Chasiv Yar seems to be the next battleground.

Note that this is an allegation, not something backed by evidence as of now. The highest probability is not only to paint a bad light on Russian forces, but also to justify the implementation of chemical weapons themselves for Ukraine to gain back territory.
Think of it; Russia has massive arnament capacities that grew as production went on and pretty much shell every inch of Ukraiine territory. With their air forces, artillery and armor they are winning territory every few days. Do you really think they need to use chemical weapons? From a rational perspective, no. They don't. NATO would have more grounds to do so, because their production capacity can't simply cope with the needs of the battlefront. Chemcial weapons would be a great deterrence.

French President Emmanuel Macron has said he would consider sending troops to Ukraine if Russian troops broke through the frontline.
The president said it would also be a possibility if Ukraine turned to the French government for help - but stressed that currently there is no consensus between Ukraine and France on this issue.
