I use flannel for reusable tissues, napkins/paper towels. Funny story: My sister came for a visit and I usually keep real tissues for visitors, but I had none. I urged her to use a flannel one and she liked it and wanted to take it home!! I said no, toss it in the washing machine!

😆 it is amazing what some think of as "off" until they use it. I am grateful my girls did not think it weird when I started making cloth pads for them. They wanted as many as I would make for them.

My two cents worth on re-using flannel. I have two guitars that I put an old cut out from jacket sleeve inside flannel liner that is longer than the fretboard and after playing for an hour or two, I place the liner between strings and fingerboard and then lay the other width over the top of strings and gently wipe up and down to remove any thing that shouldn't remain on surfaces. The guitars look almost new even though they are 15 y/o. I always learn so much from your videos. Much respect for your intelligence and creativity.

I'm glad to see someone else who is as frugal as I am.
From the time I got married I've purchased flat sheets instead of fabric sold on bolts, to make clothing, curtains, table cloths etc.
I made most of my daughter's dresses from sheets. The color and prints are more consistent and have wider selection of patterns and colors.
They're also more durable in wear and hold up better with washing.
I had started buying sheets to make curtains because the place we lived had huge windows, buying readymade curtains were astronomical, whereas flat sheets only cost me about 5$ per panel

The how to video is in the description box, simply change up the stitching and you can consider putting the PUL inside the pad just above the bottom layer of flannel. The flannel will help hold the pad in place better than the PUL layer on the outside will

I just finished making a big stack of flannel wipes for a friend who has a cloth diaper service. She offers wipes with her washing service for people who are interested and was starting to run low as her business is growing. She adds a serged edge so they take a little longer to make than just cutting the squares, but that serged edge helps them hold up to their commercial washing.

I like to make aprons from sheets. I take the fitted corner and fashion the apron pocket out of it if the elastic is still good. That apron particularity handy when harvesting.

Heidi, I watched your flannel and denim quilt video several times and finally got the nerve to make one and I did! I was given a large flannel sheet in light blue and so I made a denim and flannel quilt with red gingham hearts and patches for my husband for a Christmas present. He loves it! It is the warmest blanket in the house now. In fact, between my afghans and my up-and-coming quilts that I'm making, I'm giving away most of my store-bought blankets that I never liked. (They aren't made of any fabrics I can use inside outside of anything. I try to recycle all fabric but these are not so great.) One day, I was laying down for a rest and I was very cold. I grabbed the denim quilt off his bed to cover me and it was WONDERFUL! I have to confess, it was a lot of hard work making that quilt. I did all the clippings of the edges and all of that. It took a lot of time to make it but it was a wonderful way to repurpose that old flannel blanket and all those old denim jeans I had been storing. I'm sure I will make another one in future. You wouldn't think it gets that cold in south Mississippi winter but it does! By the way, I don't know if you left it out on purpose but I love your bathroom wipes. I made them and use them and they are so much softer than toilet paper. It's now very, very hot down here and it's our time to hibernate indoors for a few months. Some love the 90 degree temps with 70% humidity plus but not us! I'm already dreaming about autumn! P.S. I just enlarged my food forest herb gardens. I now have a HUGE herb garden back there (well actually the herbs are everywhere in the food forest) but over all, I have about 50 plus herbs growing now. Your wooly lamb's ear is doing GREAT!!!!!! I planted your seeds and just about all of them came up and I have 2 inch plants in abundance. I also have your scarlet runner beans growing EVERYWHERE in the food forest. I don't think they're liking this intense heat but I'm hoping they will come back in the fall.

Good morning Heidi, I see a trip to Goodwill for flannel in my near future! 🥰 Our chihuahua Izzy really doesn't play with plush toys much, but she has a small "Lambie" that she will growl at, shake and flip up in the air when she is upset with us. Then she will give us the "evil eye". This is usually when we tell her no for something. She's our little diva.

What a great idea to use pieces of fabric for stuffing!
I have a ton of small pieces of fabric that I just can't bear to throw away.
I'll start using it for stuffing.
I also let my children and now my grandchildren take scraps and buttons (yes, I cut the buttons off things and save them), and give them blank paper and glue and let them have at it.
It is so much better than electronics and they absolutely love it.
Thanks for all the great ideas.
