    Whether you are wanting to stipple the grip of your polymer framed pistol, be it a Glock, M&P or otherwise, or maybe the grip on your AR-15 / M-4, it is doable. While it seems scary and daunting, it doesn't need to be.
    I will walk you through stippling in this how to video. Trying some different patterns, finding one you like, and applying it. Give it a try and start small. Play around with a Magpul PMag until you get comfortable.

      The trick? A loooong extension cord, haha. Ya, I liked where I was able to shoot that video. I would have probably done more work on the grip of that AR but I got tired of standing in snow... :)

    This video has me really stoked. I have a bunch of old mags to practice on and now I'm all exited to fix all the crappy grips on my polymers.

    Been wanting to do this to my Benelli m4 forends. I scored a used oem set for $30. I never, for some reason, thought of practicing on a pmag for some reason. Mind blown

    OTDefence stippling tips are made specifically for stippling weapons. I’ve bought a few different tips over the years and have to say I’ve gotten near perfectly close to patterns you see on Salient Arms and other major companies. Looks much more professional compared to when I started off with just a plain old soldering tip.

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  Před 6 lety +1

      That is cool, I didn't know OTDefence made those. I remember checking out some of their other products, but I never saw those. If I was going to do a lot more stippling I would probably pick some up. I could see some of them as a huge time saver, haha.

    What brand is that wood burning tool?

  • @krossF
    @krossF Před 6 lety +2

    Nice! Whats your opinion on having an undercut, and finger grooves? The finger grooves dont bother me, but I feel like if my grip moves up on the pistol, they might be out of place

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  Před 6 lety +3

      Thanks man! I like when Glocks are undercut and the finger grooves removed. I ground down and stippled my finger grooves (admittedly not as well as maybe I should have) but it creates a better handling pistol for me.
      Finger grooves are great, if they match your hand perfectly, but from the factory they probably don't...

    Nice vid, but now I wanna shoot some questions…
    I wanna know if stippling a light colored polymer frame with a hot iron will darken the original color or will it make it go black like burned plastic? Does it really make it that much grippy even if your hands are wet/sweaty/bloody/greasy/cold? Is the recoil more manageable/better accuracy? Is it necessary to round off sharp bits with sand paper? Is it rough on your hands/clothing if the pattern has sharp pieces of melted polymer sticking out? After a long day of shooting does it chafe the web of your hand (between thumb and index)? Does it collect a lot of dirt and is it harder to clean than a stock frame? Is stippling really necessary if you usually wear gloves to shoot? What do you think about laser stippling (besides having a cleaner finish), does it have a grippier texture to them than the traditional stippling, which one do you prefer?

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey buddy, I'll try and help. 1. No it doesn't discolor in my experience. 2. Yes, depending on how aggressively you texture. 3. If a better grip helps you with this. 4. No, only if you want to. 5. It can be in which case you can use sand paper. 6. Only if it is really aggressively textured/ your hands are soft. 7. Not noticeably. 8. I've never had the opportunity to check out a pistol that was laser stippled.
