Man this Z06 is crazy as it is, but that just tells you how fast that plaid is, this is literally the 1% of C6 Z06 naturally aspirated builds outside of a stroker, and even then they were neck and neck from a roll. So if you have a C6 Z06 with less power and more weight than this, youâre going to lose pretty bad. If the plaid traps around 150 in the 1/4 on a good day, that means this Z06 is close to that as well, crazy fast for being naturally aspirated.
Let me correct your sentence: "Man this Tesla garbage is crazy as it is, but that just tells you how fast that Corvette Z06 is." Done.

Great races and that's one bad ass Z06! I remember when i had a supercharged C7 Z51 A8 around mid 500's rwhp and raced a friend's C6 Z06 that had FBO and H/C pushing around 590 rwhp. His top end was crazy especially 4th gear. Mad respect for the LS7 đșđž

Awesome C6Z. FBO/E85 LS7s I've seen doing into the 140s, to be trapping 150ish to be door to door or slightly ahead of a Plaid with no Nitrous/boost and just parts/tune optimization is nuts. Thats a great setup.
I expected the car to be geared crazy short but it appears to still be able to rip up top as well.
I love watching the new king shit get beat by ICE cars, especially manuals, and N/A is the icing on the cake. That being said, no doubt the Plaid is so over the top ridiculous to be that fast off an assembly line. It's a weird time we live in.

That's some insane power. I own a Plaid and owned a boosted C6 with a manual. 670whp trapped 136mph so that Vette is pushing a lot more to do 147 to 150mph traps which is what you would need to hang with Plaid.
They will trap that at 2900 lbs 700 rwhp. Car is light . A boosted regular c6 with no WR would be 500 lbs heavier

There's literally no replacement for displacement. I'm really impressed especially the driver boss shifting the Corvette Z06. Also this race shows that the pushrod V8 still has it and is not really outdated. Hats off to the engineers of the LS7 and to the driver.

Acceleration is a bit slower in track mode too, no reason use it in a roll race.
The 217mph top speed "unlock" has been done aftermarker but not yet a available to the public or offered by Tesla.

Once the Corvette shifts into 4th gear the car becomes untouchable , next race should be the plaid vs 765 LT 60-180 i really want to see the 765 LT and how it performs compared to the 720s
In defense of the tesla when the vette hit 4th gear Tesla already hit limiter at 160 thatâs why u see him pull like that go pro wonât be as accurate as he probably hit 160 on tachometer for the plaid first before the go pro thatâs why u see the c6 pull at the end but since both cars are very quick hitting 160 comes real quick and Tesla is governed at 160 limit. If the plaid didnât have a limiter the race would be still be close race.

Cars dont have souls and they are really nothing more than appliances in the end. I think Whatever gets the job done. There is something positive to be said for a car that can seat 5, has warranty and and had the level of speed where it takes built vehicles to go after it. Sure it takes much of the tinkering out of the vehicle but its not built for that. Its basically a daily driver and not even the sports car of the brand. I think the roadster will fill that shoes whenever it happens.

This Z06 is definitely a high compression build/fully built/race build. A stock c6z runs high 8âs with a short throw 60-130. This guy is running mid to high 4âs to run like this against the Tesla

BTW, I still wouldn't call this a max effort NA build since he's still running a hydraulic lifter cam. In fact, I'm shocked he isn't using a solid lifter stick with a build like this! I mean honestly, what's the big deal with adjusting valve lash every so often? Small price to pay for that extra power and RPM potential...

Also note- The Plaid powertrain makes its peak 1020hp at 80-85mph.. So although digs and low rolls typically are an advantage for EVs, this system performs best from a dig or rolling start at *peak* output.. Leaving a "grey" area 50->80mph where it can't utilize its launch control or full power plateau

Both cars are awesome would be happy to own either one for sure. Figured I'd ask some car people on here if you guys had a 160k car budget what car would you get? I'm still trying to decide on a fastI'llr. Ill probably get lots of hate but so far Tesla Plaid is on the top of my list as it seems as though most other 1000 HP cars break often (unless that's not true and people are lieing to me) and I want to drive my car not have it in the shop every other month seems the Tesla would be great for that. But Figured some of you guys would have some more cool car options for me.
I drive a Plaid and no longer have any interest in ICE cars. The Plaid ruined them for me. I'm not even missing the sound anymore.

Lots of people say lots of little things love to break I figured a lot of those people don't even own the car and are just hating on it.

On paper there isnât anything that can competeâŠ..The plaid is a bone stock 5 passenger luxury, quiet, no maintenance, family car with video games and advanced technology with a warranty that costs 10x less to refuelâŠ.and if you strip out 5-600lbs for a track day can run 8.7 in the 1/4 mile.
the c6 z06 is a legend and I want one, I prefer the looks vs the newer vettes , itâs lightweight, I wouldnât put those gurgling rough idle cams on it but thatâs how heâs so fast, he sacrifices smoothness down low for top end power, and it sounds great at WOT! Itâs the last of its kind, no more NA 7.0L engines will be coming out soâŠ.get one while they are still available. They will be worth big money in the electric future.

Umm why would Plaid fans be upset? We are car enthusiasts too you know. These were two insane badass wicked cars and the race was amazing! Whatâs to be but hurt about đ€·ââïž. I donât own a Plaid yet but Iâm definitely open to the idea and been kicking the idea around more and more.

Ok.. a heavily modded car on street slick beats a factory stock vehicle in street trim.. There are tons of cars like that at the drag strip. Apples and Oranges. You can make anything go fast.
Thats what Elon thought too, he builds the same Model S for over a decade now and only adds more horsepower.
That fits the Plaid perfectly, you can make anything fast

Mad respect to the vette build I love a c6 but he definitely lead by a car and got the hit on the first race
the plaid would've won if it wasn't limited, and also from a start it would've won. plaid can go 217 mph.
Still impressive that the Z06 is N/A and has around 400 less HP to the wheels than the plaid and still won.

I bet that Z is good around the track too.
Stock C6 z06 was faster in 2011 on the NĂŒrburgring than a Plaid with upgraded brakes in 2021.
