F4U-1C & F4U-4 in War Thunder | The Better 4.7 Corsair?

- The F4U-4 is a rank III BR 4.7 naval fighter which has a much better engine than the F4U-1 series but still only has 6x .50cals, which are currently rather lackluster.

The F4U-1C is a Rank IV BR 4.7 naval fighter with basically the same airframe and engine as the F4U-1D at 3.0 but is much heavier and sluggish thanks to its 4x 20mms.

I find them both rather mediocre in Air RB, but the F4U-1C feels nicer to me as despite its poor flight performance, it has a way to deal with enemies quickly with its cannons. It's much better at exploiting opportunities like pushing headons and 3rd partying.
I had a few 5 kill games, but they were rather boring and uninteresting boom and zoom games and killing bombers so I chose gameplay that I felt was more representative of flying these planes.

The F4U-4 is now 4.3 as of Feb 2024. I don't think this changes much, and if anything, the F4U-1C should have gone down with it.

The F4u-1c teaches you how to prioritize targets and don't rush in air rb...ngl it's one of my favorite aircraft because you can use it's disadvantages and turn them into advantages

Hmm yeah I could play some of the foldered 109s. I was intending to play some of the less covered vehicles since a lot of the 109s have been covered, but I don't hear too many people talking about the G6, 10, or 14.
@@CatWerfer same, I think they are underrated especially most of the g-series that are ‘secondary’ to research. You could even say the same about the f-2. I’d just like the g-6, 10 just see what other people’s views are on it. But it’s all up to you. Like I’ve said really been enjoying the videos.
Actually i have a fair few games in the G6 and I think i also enjoyed the "erla" version in the finnish subtree, so maybe somewhere down the line ill come around to making a vid on it

@@budgilreath3950 i think the earla has a slightly different canopy but otherwise are identical
Corsairs have massive power especially f4u4b which got buff so it now has almost the same topspeed as the f2g
I really like the F4U4B but the earlier corsairs really struggle imo cuz they fly a lot like faster FW190s but unless you're in the 1C, you dont have good killing power so you can't really take any risky overshoot chances like you can in the FWs
Yea but I think the corsairs are better then the 190s

The f4u4 is better in performance but the 1c is in guns,if u want a mix get the 4b

I'm a very skilled f4u player and will say, the f4u-4 does everything better than the f4u-1c in every single performance metric
And somehow, gaijin has decided to put the plane with 3.3 flight performance at 4.7 lol. I love the corsairs but I don't think they fit the air rb meta very well
I remember when the corsairs used to be really really good, now they’re just terrible. I played my 4B somewhat recently and it just felt horrendous to fly, and I love my fast n heavy American props. My highest KDs are all in P47s (5-7 to 1), and while ik corsairs and thunderbolts play differently, they’re similar enough and always have been. So sad what gaijin did to them
The 4B still has excellent guns so at the very least pushing headons still works, I remember i had an 8kill in it recently. though yeah its hard to call a plane good just because it can push headons well
F4U-4 at 4.3 isn't terrible as you now have roughly almost the same horsepower as the P-47D-25 even at relatively high altitudes, you're just a bit draggier and not as fast as the P-51D or P-47D. But I think you're very dangerous because of your flaps.
I still don't think its meta enough to really compete well with other planes at its BR but yeah it can work if you push it
They nerfed the rudder on this thing so now it’s pain, and the engine prevents it from actually climbing well. Not to mention the maps are just too small to allow US planes to get up to altitude where they perform the best. Although the P38 is still fun
Yeah the corsairs have been done dirty. I haven't played it recently but if the rudder is worse now thats a shame. Its really not worth playing a lot of US props even if the plane is good just cuz the teams right now are horrible. I've been playing at 3.7 and the only times we win are when I hard carry with at least 5+ kills
Us planes are just not enjoyable for me.
I played Japan, Germany,ussr and Japan. By far my worst performance are with us props.
Also us 50 cals are not better than cannons.
Maybe except for the berzin ub .
.50cals had a major nerf to how often they set fires last year so yeah anything with .50cals feels incredibly underpowered right now. The us planes that have 20mm cannons are still okay to use but the f4u 1c is still has worse performance than thr f4u 1a at 2.7 which is pretty funny and dumb in my opinion.
I will say that the German 20mm mg151s have also felt underpowered, especially considering the whole point of that ammo is to pack as much high explosive into a bullet as possible.

I want to find a us prop that I enjoy, but at this point, I might just get the xp50.
Yeah there are really two ways of dealing with that
1) having a plane that has good enough flight performance to make up for the lack of firepower like the F8F and the P-51C
2) having good 20mm cannons or a lot of .50cals. I like the P-47 series for this. The P38s also have 20mm cannons but I don't quite like how they fly.
Or i guess you could buy the xp50, though the 20mms run out pretty quickly on that plane

Плюс он сам легче, чем d серия, соответственно быстрее разгоняется и набирает высоту. D 10 хорош, но рули все также отвратительны. Поэтому C11 это топ, КД на нем 5:1, на D10 3,5:1

Taking a headon with a burning plane is foolish it's possible he might put the fire out but you risk dying to a dead man and since he's burning he probably won't pullout and dump all his ammo so he has a pretty good shot at hitting you
