When I was a kid in the 70s you could buy a cheap kit like this for less than a buck, assemble it, and have it fly in minutes.

When I was little I was a very crafty child, and I wanted a kite so bad. So being my little self, I got paper and take and tape the paper together and threw it outside...it didn't work...XD

Hi!
I am making a kite but haven’t yet decided which fabric to use.
I had first thought of using organza silk but the tissue paper came to mind and then I just heard about Parchment paper.

Swapping the wood for bamboo might make it stronger. Then use heavy duty plastic and double the scale and you’ll have a monster!

Use the same frame but with plastic. It's guaranteed that it will fly because plastic is lightweight.

Yes, it must be slightly curved.
This will not fly high, the weight of the sticks isn't balanced too, once it will reach 20 feet it'l dive.
