Good review. I absolutely LOVE my 22 Trophy. its a fishing beast and great for the girlfriend and I to go cruising on, we can get our beach chairs, umbrella, and even strap our portable gas grill on it to go to the lake islands. She loves the front storage for her sun bag. When fishing the front storage great for tackle boxes or a small cooler if you are using the big cooler for a live well. Ive added a micro power pole to the back of my cooler which is a game changer as you just pull up, hit a button on the console and drop the pole to anchor the ski. I also have bought a custom bracket to move the cooler up and install a spot lock trolling motor on the back which will take my freshwater lake and river fishing to the next level. I love the modularity of this thing, as in minutes I can pop the cooler off, converting it from a fishing vessel to a tow sports vessel and take my kids tubing. with 170 hp and a 57 mph top speed, its plenty of get up and go for whatever i need. as far as im concerned, BRP slammed the ball out of the park.
only cons:
1. shallow water fishing with a jet pump has drawbacks. trolling motor fixes them.
2. footwells fill with water... they empty with a blast of throttle but self draining footwells would be a nice touch
3. the in hull transducer for the garmin is OK... but you lose water temp reading and no way to upgrade to side/ downscan without a external transducer. I wish BRP would have modified the rear of the hull to accept a recessed 3 in 1 transducer like many kayaks do.
that said... wouldnt trade my FP trophy for anything... 30 hours on it already... i fish year round... this thing is a blast.
That's awesome!
One question I’m looking at these what’s the price you paid for yours if you don’t mind me asking
@@brandonwatson9535 - 22k out the door with a yacht club trailer, fully loaded with tech package and audio. Oklahoma. Bought back in February.
Hi can you show pictures If the micro power pole
Fantastic review!!! Very professional...this seadoo is a fantastic idea...way more options than I realized!!!
Great video explaining all the differences. Thank you
Just got mine yesterday. So stoked, can’t wait to get it on the water
Very cool!
Any regrets?
The seat and anchor stowage is superb !!
Yes!
Fantastic machine, I'm getting the Trophy or divorced, possibly both. Perfect for Upstate, NY lakes and rivers.
LOL
Finally got the call today! My Fish-Pro Trophy has arrived and ready for pickup!!! Lines down!
Awesome!
I live on the Tennessee river I am gonna be in the market because of your video! Thank you !
Have fun!
Kevin,
I'm a new subscriber, also new to the PWC world. I live on a island in the Pacific Northwest where there aren't so many PWC riders ( weather and water temps are always cold 54 and rainy on the 4th of July ). Thankfully I found your channel. I want to use the PWC for fishing and am stuck between the FX cruiser HO and the Sea Doo Trophy. My main focus is on reliability off shore. Your thoughts??
I cant find a new Yamaha or Sea Doo anywhere so I guess I have some time to decide.
Keep up the great work!!!!! You are helping so many people with your channel.
The best thing to do is compare our two reviews (both here on CZcams and the adjoining articles on watercraftjournal.com where we go over the details). But you're right, supply is VERY short and the waiting lists are LOOONG.
Fantastic video. Full of good information and delivered superbly. Great job
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@watercraftjournal great in-depth review of this watercraft. Sea doo should be very happy with you lol
Hopefully we get invited back!
Hi there. Thanks for an excellent review. The 2022 SeaDoo FishPro Trophy does not come with the swivel chair and the anchoring system in the International market and the 2023 model is not available in my local dealership. So which would you recommend to go for, the 2022 Fishpro Trophy or the 2023 Explorer Pro? Thanks.
2023 is now 19599. Wow what a jump that was. Great review as always.
Do you know if they made any changes to the 2023 or 2024? Seeing new 2022 overstock on sale and wondering if there's a reason to go with the newer models?
Great review as always. Seems like if you are going to fish on a PWC and want the best, buying that would be better than parting something together aftermarket. The only thing is... I put in 70-80 hours per summer riding and i have never once seen one person fishing off a pwc ever lol. A whole fish line up of machines seems like alot of energy for a seemingly small section of the market... unless its super popular in the southern usa or other parts of the world or something.
The USA is last to really catch on to this trend. It's growing and growing quickly, just not enough to be "mainstream" just yet.
Most detailed video I have seen for this machine 👍
Glad you liked it!
Got the call today, mine MIGHT finally be ready before end of week. Ordered it 10 months ago! Been waiting on the electronics, and the computer chip for weeks.
Good news! Happy to hear it!
@@watercraftjournal bitch, whine, and moan enough, sometimes good things that you pay for happen! heh heh heh
Absolutely awesome review and great content
Glad you enjoyed it
I would love to know more about the Sea-Doos I'm interested in a couple of them if possible
Excellent review, still deciding on the trophy or the sea doo switch. Love them both.
Good choice!
Switch, by far was my first choice. I called day #2 they were available for sale, and the entire year's worth was GONE! Went with the Trophy, THAT took 10 months from ordering to delivery!
@@UncleBildo thanks going to order for next year, I live by the bay in New Jersey and just can’t wait to enjoy
@@chucksabino5735 Washington State (the dry desert side). Have astounding amounts of awesome fishing righ there. Pretty short season to enjoy the water tho! A dude could test his frosticles in a hurry Oct-April!
I am seeing more and more FishPros out on the water here in Palm Beach County, FL. I like that you actually get out on the ski and go over the features in real-life. This is 100% more informative than the SD corporate materials out there.
Appreciated!
Happy 4th. Glad u made the live stream last night, my opinion your best yet , why beause you spoke spot on about a subject that is not your exact forte. The market news clips u spoke about were spot on. Ask me how i know---- i flip each weekday 40 grand worth of stocks and sometimes etfs.
I don't know how you can make money in the stock market as it burns to the ground. That's like selling deck furniture off of the Titanic as it sinks.
Can the anchor mount system be added to the other ST3 hull Sea Doos like the GTX or Explorer? Would you need to reinforce the mount since the cleat is attached as part of the accessory. Great video.
No clue. It’s not an available option through BRP
I put a 500 deposit on it when I had the money to pay in full . It took almost 2 years on the waiting list and by the time they called me to pick it up . I was broke with bad credit . 😥
Still a year later????
can you tell a difference between 2022 vs 2024 fishpro any difference?
They should have a unicorns horn mounted on the front of it as they are just as hard to find. Just the fact that Kevin is reviewing this model in July (Super late in the model year) shows how rare these machines are. Hopefully you will actually be able to buy these units next year when the economy crashes further and nobody can afford them.
Mark, you're 100% right. It took us half a year to ride this as any and all units were sold to the public. This is literally the pre-production unit used for all of the press materials filmed and photographed LAST YEAR.
Very informative! Thank u for Nanking this video. I no longer want the scout. I’ll go for the sport since it’s cheaper then the trophy
What made you change your mind about the Scout?
@@watercraftjournal I prefer the extra rod holders, the thing to hold extra gas, and for the storage to be be close instead of bending to the Nose if the ski
Excellent review
Glad you liked it!
I'd really like to see someone outfit a 300 RXT or GTX with all the fish pro bells and whistles, IE extended swim platform, electronics, etc. I feel like that is the ski with literally everything and could be the best tourer / fish ski available on the market today.
Happens all of the time. You can do it too.
Not worth it lol I’ll be going double the distance while you are trying to fill up with gas. Waste of time
@@Fowlerz14 eco mode with two jerry cans and anything's possible on that platform, I've seen people with fuel cells doing 200 miles without stopping. I think it's plenty worth it if you only have one ski
ive got a 22 Trophy... the 170 is plenty of power. loaded down with fishing gear, a full cooler, and 2UP, my girlfriend and I hit 55 mph all the time.
@@ValoreDave yea it’s possible but if fishing is your goal the supercharger probably isn’t necessary.. you won’t be hitting over 55mph for an extended time either way so all your getting for that extra power is less range and more money spent on gas
Thanks for the video. This is instrumental on my buying decision. I am positive that one is in my immediate future. I was on the fence between a new Harley or a Sea Doo Fish Pro. The price and versatility of the Fish Pro outweighs the HD by a savings of $20k or so. Onward and outward to rescue some fish from drowning in the Gulf of Mexico near South Padre Island.
How does the 170 hp motor suit the fish pro / explorer for the times you are not fishing and want to just explore or go offshore to a destination? Also Does the fish pro benefit from the Riva Sponsons that you suggest heavily for the ST3 hulls? Lastly is the dual battery and larger alternator equipped only on the fish pro or do you see this on the explorer as well?
It's only on the Fish Pro Trophy. Sponsons HELP but don't FIX the ST3 hull.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Anyone know the changes, if any, they have made to the 2023 and 2024 Fish Pro Trophy?
excellent review kevin
Appreciated!
Yep they are all very nice
Yup
For the Sandy ground where I ski I much prefer the Aussie COOPER plastic PWC anchor
Nice!
I'd really love to buy one of these but my state wont allow us to use them between sunset and sunrise not ideal for a striped bass fisherman
Rats.
This is the minivan of PWC’s! It’s not sexy or fast but it carries a lot of stuff.
It's the king of bells and whistles for sure!
Seadoo owes me royalty lol i bought that anchor back in 99 for my 99 gp. It is made out of lead , the round small collar is kindof the lock just twist it while held upright, loosens right up
Your claim makes zero sense.
I'm in the market of purchasing me one! It's in the making now and hopefully I can get one within the next few days....
Hopefully
Hello you said tech package is standard,I just bought 22 trophy and had to pay for Bluetooth speakers and the display is also another upgrade.can you confirm and show me where this is standard so I can show the dealer!
Because that's what the corporate representative told us.
TY
You bet!
how long is the trailer with the trophy on it end to end?
PWC trailers vary in length.
But has Sea Doo fixed all the iDF issues they’ve had leaving people stranded on the water?
Yes - all new PWC leaving the plant have the updated internals. Those already sold must verify with their dealer/service rep if it has been updated.
How is it for recreation? Are you able to do watersports with it too or no?
It doesn't have the oomph to tow a raft or wake boarder like the 230HP Wake Pro.
Yeah that’s wonderful….. IF YOU CAN FIND ONE!
Why do you think it took us 6 months to test one?
Can you have the backrest on the rear seat when not using the swivel
No, we tried it. It bottoms out and won't stay in well.
@@watercraftjournal ok thank you
But that thing is awesome. I’m torn between the 1800SVHO and the trophy. Totally different machines. But I want to be able to do both
Yes, VERY different.
Nice fishing boat
I love it it's beautiful.
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲
Appreciated
It appears to be a dressed up GTI. For just another 8 or 9k.
The Scout? Look a little closer at what comes in it
How big is a “region” for the map token?
Solid question - we really don't know.
Awesome video! As far as the anchor goes, it would be cool to see a trolley setup such as the LeverLoc made by YakAttack as well as a low profile Anchor Wizard mounted to a FishPro.
That would be neat
What does Yamaha have to compete with the sea-doo trophy fish pro
We did a video on it! They have the Jetfish package you can add to any FX.
I heard it has a trolling mode is that true?
All Fish Pros do.
Can you give a review on the new 2023 sea-doo fish pro trophy I bought one and the IDF is different and there is no backup battery The IDF Is in on the reverse switch And they are installing a second battery So I can run my fish finder and my stereo
No, because it's LITERALLY identical to 2022 according to BRP. The 2023 continues to have the dual batteries and heavy duty harness. Whoever told you otherwise is LYING TO YOU.
Loved the vid but I'm still concerned about roll overs. Lake havasu isn't the calmest lake around any suggestions. Now mind you I already have a 22 foot fishing boat but sometimes its just to big for what I want to do, and it needs at least 2 feet of water or she is getting stuck
I'm 238 lbs. and you saw me stand 2-footed in a single well. These skis DO NOT roll over. Frankly, if you can roll it, you did it on purpose and/or shouldn't be allowed on a PWC.
Damn i want one
How many dealers are selling it at MSRP…..I DOUBT ANY. I tried to purchase one a year ago and they wanted 30,000.00!
Awesome
We think so
Nice mark up 5k 🥲
That's where it's all going.
Only downside im seeing is there's no trolling setting. You can't move down a bank without cranking the motor which will scare the fish off.
There's specifically a trolling setting, but yes, the engine is running. It's not silent. But it runs between 2-8mph.
Kevin you’ve slated the ST3 hull for its performance in waves …..
It's trash in waves.
❤
One negative thing about jetski fishing, is that its a wet fishing, when you ride in ocean you stay wet all the time, yes you need your wet suit or other suits but when youre in boat or kayak or inflatable, you can stay relatively dry
Lol I take it you have no experience with kayak fishing…😂
@@tonyg3091 you are right :) no kayak, but I have inflatable that I fish on in the lakes, rivers and ocean. I guess on kayak it all depends what type you have, if you are in bay and its calm weather I assume you're relatively dry? I stay dry in my inflatable, unless u're in ocean and there's swells 3-5 ft, which I have experienced, then you might get a little wet.
@@ia6980 Well look, all I can say is-it is called a water sport for a reason...😅🤣
?Why am i seeing 20k msrp?
Because somebody will pay it.
Would be bad ass if u could get a crabbing package
Crabbing? LOL!
Why they did all this, yet didn't add some sort of electric trolling motor or thrusters is beyond me.
The swivel seat is not available in the UK! Doesn't meet our safety standards. What a joke.
Really? That's the first we've heard. CRAZY!
Nor down under, I’m told by my BRP dealer they were concerned the open ocean fishing and associated swell may have overstressed the components to the point of failure? I’m not fussed as I chose the sport $24000 ( with out IDF) plus trailer.
Anyone in central Florida want one? I have a deposit at a dealership that I’m about to cancel so they’ll have an opening.
It'll be sold (when it arrives).
Yeah, but you hate the st3... Right?
In most all applications yes. The ST3 is ideal for how the Trophy is used.
@@watercraftjournal offshore fishing is my bag though mate. I'm baulking at the st3 because of the problems you've highlighted in various vids. Even owners here admit it is a bit of a wanderer, and wish they'd kitted out an FX or some such.
I talked with Sea-Doo’s top brass and was assured the new hull (due in 2027) addresses most of these issues. Too bad it’s so far away! -K
Water-maggots Unite!!
Okay...
Personally I'd rather fish off of the FishPro than a boat.
Really? Why so?
guess he forgot about trolling motors
What about them?
It’s too bad we don’t actually get to pay those prices. lol by time you walk in to buy it. Pssshhh. Dealers says. Ok. You’re total out the door is $29,327 lol fee plus fee plus fee plus fee plus extra fee Just cause we can and we don’t care about return customers. Only making the most $ we can take you for
Oh yeah, MSRP is no longer a viable number.
@@watercraftjournal it use to be that it was a huge deal just to get approved to buy a toy. But now it’s like. Yep got approved but can’t buy one cause dealer wants extra $5k or more just cause. Lol. Sad part is. When I got my Yamaha raptor few months Back. Dealer gave me the SAME EXACT song and dance about. Nobody has them. It’s low inventory. Blah.blah. Now it’s the skis
Fish pro needs more horsepower, 230 to 300 horsepower
Nope. And don’t spam my channel.
I don’t like it she knew trophy I really do
Went to a local fort lauderdale dealer, the guy wanted 25,000!! Lol.. he gave me a speech and asked if I even knew what I was buying..
So I can buy a 21 foot boat that can hold 4 people no problem, a newish 150-200 yamaha,or a one person jet ski for 20,000? Yall need to try harder.
It can be used for 2 people
Yea and piss on each other all day. A 19 to 20 ft cuddly is the same price. Get me a price under $10k and maybe we can talk
Can you go deep sea fishing 30 miles off shore on a fifty dollar bill in your 21 foot?
