  • Controversy in GUSA Women's 400m!
It has been established through this video shot by TekTV that UCC's Grace Kombetto, who came 3rd in the race, committed a lane violation when she crossed into lane 5 (with about 200m left) and remained in that lane until about 10m to end the race.
Per the rules, the incident should have resulted in a disqualification for Grace Kombetto but for some strange reason the track judge responsible for the last 100m failed to report same. UEW, the aggrieved party, also failed to file a protest within the stipulated one hour after the event.
The race was won by UGs Grace Obour 54.84s Jennifer Tenenjotop came 2nd with 55.54s, while UCC's Grace Kombetto came 3rd with 55.83s. UEWs Hamidu Asana came 4th with 56.13s. A DQ would have meant UEW athletes would have won 2nd and 3rd.
The video definitely exposes the incompetency of the track judge but other officials are hesitant about using the video evidence to disqualify the UCC athlete as the competition officials did not agree to use video evidence before the event. Anyways, the video was shot by TEKTV, the official KNUST Media outfit and a member of the LOC.
