The Shitsavanen that appears in Epusode IV had a pretty craxy backstory. He was a force-sensitive Rebel Agent, like the female lamproid that appears with him in the Cantina, who was also his lover. After dying in the Battles of Hoth and Endor, both lovers would be finally together for eternity as Force Ghosts
When in doubt, blame the Rakatan. Not only is there precedent, they can’t defend themselves cause they’re probably extinct.
Recent ones are probably the Columi, the Grays of Star Wars
This series going over species had been extremely useful in my SW5E campaigns.

It must have been more than one species messing with them. Rakate originally, then someone else thinking they could get away with it.

I think it's so cool there are wolfmen in star wars the shistavanen are one of my favorite species in all of star wars l want to see them in animation and more live action star wars projects
Ngl, I hated the removal of the Shitsaven in the specisl efitions of Episode IV. I get it could look cheap, but I still liked it

I say it's the Bothans. Similar canine species, big on secrets, could be testing gene therapies.
The Arkanians are also well known for tinkering with other species genetic codes.

I made a character for a table top game from this race and it was hard cause you gotta kinda make up a lot of their planetary lore. I just made her a separatist officer (cause I feel they would have joined during the clone wars) who sneaks around with combat droids until the empire made her planet and people enslaved.
I think it' be fun if it as someone other then the Rakatta, because it diversifies the Star Wars world just a little more.
When I hear "Rakatta" I think of a cheese of a similar name.

I love this series, it makes the various species feel unique with their own history! I've been revisiting older videos too to get more info for my SW5e campaign. Going down the rabbit hole, the 4 armed species like Codru-ji and Ardennian are fascinating to me! It's too bad Ardennians are canon only so there's next to no lore. I would love to see a video of a species that has 4 arms

Right off the bat, a montage of werewolves in the starwars galaxy.
Could be both. Rakatan's were abducting and experimenting, and in later times through to the modern times there were other unscrupulous parties interested in investigating that tampering to see how it was done.

the Uvena system is grid M-18 on the galactic map.. some chief systems in same grid so guess are neighbours:
1.Rogue Antar - location of Black Stall Station where Cad Bane hideouts,
2. H'nemthe - system where Nightlilly came from, the lethal lady from Mos Eisley Cantina Tale,
3. Pipada - where the Drabatans came from, one was fighting at landing pads on Scarif in Rogue One, (considering the very loud voice of the Drabatans eg Pao, and the Wolfmen's sensitive ears maybe they didn't get along lol?)
4. Clak'dor - home system of the Bith.
5. Xagobah - where battles fought during Cone wars, eg Ventress, Grievous etc..
So, quite a few important species 😊
I know that the Cathar are basically werecats, but werewolves aren’t unique enough to be an alien species in Star Wars
Umbarans are literally just white people. There are tons of lazy & derivative alien species in the franchise.
Would've been a great appearance in bf2 for rebel heavy class along with the Farghul.
Are the Hassk related to these Wolfmen..(we see 3 of them in Maz Kanata's castle, Force Awakens) and they resemble a more vicious looking maybe more primitive Wolfman-type alien?
As for the genetic augmentation, the Cosians are said to engage in this but for reasons of curiosity more than cruel motives..?
It is possible multiple species experimented on them throughout their history. For example, the Rakata could have done the initial genetic modification and other species have done further genetic modification since then.
