There will be an Ortolan child in skeleton crew I think unless they say otherwise, it at least looked like an Ortolan. The sad thing is that it seems to have four limbs. The original Max Reebo puppet had only feet and no arms, then they had arms and legs and in BOBF Max Reebo had only arms, so I hoped we would get back the original design. I hope they bring that up in the show with a subspecies with four limbs and the original with two or the other way around

The whole feet hands thing is a failed effect, but a lot of people want it to be true. The weirdest result is how in Old Republic they apparently used the height number from somebody's estimate of the foot-hand ortolans, but left them normal humanoids as well, so they're just tiny people.
Of course, in the original design, if the feet were hands, the ears were actually some kind of flippers.

The Old Republic comics are quite fascinating and deserve to be talked about more. These are divided into three arcs:
-Blood of the Empire: Relates the rise to power of Darth Thanaton at the beginning of the Great Galactic War. He is quite fascinating as Tganatos is presented as an honorable Sith who is forced to gradually give up his humanity and become a member of the Dark Puncil in order to survive. recommendable
-Threat of Peace: Shows from Satele Shan's point of view the formation of the weak peace treaty between the Republic and the Sith Empire. Unfortunately, the art is horrible, the story is confusing, and the way Satele is portrayed as a teenage Padawan despite being at this point in the chronology a 47-year-old wise teacher and general. References to the first KOTOR are still appreciated.
-The Lost Suns: The debut of Theron Shan. The story is quite entertaining and recommended before reading Drew Karpyshin's novel "Annihilation"

You're showing two different depictions of them. It's only because of the Kenner Toy that gave it Legs thus playing with it's hands, but in actuality the Muppet creature is playing the organ with it's Toes not Fingers but this video shows both depictions as one creature.
Yeah I explain at the end but it is all over the place in both canon and legends
The humanoid depiction was completely canon for the whole of Legends continuity and was not just Kenner toys, it was also the comics and video games, and still have this design in The Old Republic MMO. It was only very recently that the original Phil Tippet design was brought back up, and in Canon since then, their design has still been inconsistent between the classic humanoid design and the two-legged maquette design has only been shown a handful of times
if they evolved for famine and not much food, then they would not be gluttons. they'd eat less. it makes no sense to evolve in an environment with little food, but always be hungry. a slow eating stomach digest different then an eat all the time fast stomach.
I think it is like humans, who did not have as much surplus calories as we do now, and out fat storage for these famine times, our indulgence in food as entertainment not just to survive, same idea
Camels are very well adapted for drought and famine and yet when they get access to food, they eat huge amounts of it to store as fat in anticipation of later scarcity. Ortolans biology and culture are not very different from that
