MS Monarch (formerly Monarch of the Seas) was the second of three Sovereign-class cruise ships owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. As of April 1, 2013, Monarch is operated by RCCL's Pullmantur Cruises brand. It was built in 1991 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyards in Saint-Nazaire, France.
At 73,941 GT, Monarch was one of the largest cruise ships in the world at time of her completion. She could carry up to 2,744 passengers.

Heartbroken. RIP Monarch of the Seas
I practically grew up on Monarch. I was devastated when I found out she was scrapped. My single mother who was struggling financially and going to graduate school at the same time somehow managed to make life magical for a week once a year on Monarch. Her name was boaty to me. As a little girl I cried when we had to leave. My favorite spots on her were the hallway where you could see the Royal Caribbean anchor, and the very back railing where you could watch the propellers churn up the water. I will never forget the memories I made, and the growing up I did, on that ship. She’ll always be in my heart ❤️⚓️
So sad to see Monarch and Sovereign Of The Seas go away. They were absolutely beautiful ships. The Viking Crown Lounge design was the best looking of all the Royal Caribbean ships. It just looked so impressive sitting high on the top of the ship. RIP girls you will be surely missed by old school cruisers.
good bye old friend 😢 😪 😞 😔
We sailed on that magnificent ship, we have the best memories of it, we will miss her dearly as it’s all crew.
first and best cruise ever out of San Pedro! Lots of good memories of multiple cruises on her. RIP old girl....
Terribly sad to see her go. That footage from what appears to be the 90s seems very rare, great find!
There will never be another like the Sovereign class. I’ve always felt that they had an aura of beauty about them that other cruise ships today can’t hope to match.
Majesty is still here for now.
@@Geocon04 ikr for now...
Ethan Nelson: you are correct! They offered the best balance in terms of size, amenities, and access to various ports worldwide.
Hope that ship becomes a hotel and museum ship rather than scrapped.
@@donaldturner2145 its already being scrapped and the bow is complletly gone
Sad to see her go she would have been a beautiful ship and people loved her
That was 1st cruise ship i was ever on and i was hooked after that. Ive cruised about 15 times since then and 3 more cruises with her during that time in LA. RIP Monarch.
Sad to see the end. RiP lovely girls.God bless you.
I’m gonna miss her too ):
Our first cruise in 1994. She was stunning back in the day. I remember that cruise very vividly. Southern Caribbean out of San Juan.
Thanks so much for this, our first cruise was on the Monarch and we fell in love with cruising
I do hope Majesty of the Seas will be preserved as a hotel and museum ship rather than scrapped.
Majesty of the seas ...my second home for 6 yrs monarchs sister class
so sad. it was a beautiful ship. cruised to Ensenada several times.
Ok. So someone else went to Ensenada. Thought I was going crazy for a moment.
I went in the Monarch of the Seas back in 2001 in the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan it was the best cruise I ever went on!
I hope that Royal Caribbean can sail the Majesty of the Seas just for a few more years and if she retired one day, then I hope that they don't scrap her.
R.I.P to her sisters Sovereign and Monarch of the Seas:(
Hey. Check out Majesty of the Seas in Southampton last weekend. Hanging out in the port with Allure of the seas. czcams.com/video/0fmvTimurfY/video.html
Cheers Ray
Great ship, I sailed this ship in 1994
My first cruise after college was on the Monarch. 🛳💚
Sovereign of the seas was our first ever cruise vacation to the Bahamas in 2006. She had such an impact we have completed over 45 cruises now. Lovely ship class. Gone cruise Travel mad and post cruise vacation videos on our channel. That's the impact she had. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
Sailed on Monarch after a week on the then new mega ship Allure of the Seas, totally opposite ends of the cruise ship spectrum. The 4 days on Monarch were every bit as enjoyable as the mega ship just in a different way.
Very sad indeed
I was invited to spend time on the ship on the publicity tour on the way to Miami. Sad just sad
We sailed on her when she was, I think, the largest cruise ship afloat. Now, RC operates ships 3x her size.
My honeymoon was on the Monarch. This is so sad.
Real shame, much prefer this size to those new giants. Would never go anywhere the new ones.
Farewell monarch...
Very sad. Would love to see more footage of beaching and interior after beaching.
AJ she hasn’t really been touched Sovereign though they have already started on cutting up.
Excelente video de uno de los dos cruceros con verdaderas líneas náuticas. Una lástima su desguace .
Sad to see her go! Can I have the link to the video of her being shutdown?
Of course czcams.com/video/P6Hp3mcSf8o/video.html
Call me silly but I prefer the older, smaller cruise ships. You can keep those mega ships.
Will start operation
Monarch is verry good ship the best
if you have depression and love ships a lot then I warn you not to watch this video
I’m sad majesty was just sold and my cruise for 2021 canceled): I hope she does not go for scrap as she and empress have been bought by China ):
I’m praying she doesn’t go for scrap!! Hopefully as I’m the statement she carries on cruising.
@@kdproductions2008 she’s still laid up ): her future looks grim
Thank you for all pullmantur 😭😭😭
Nothing to thank them for! They were the ones who sent her to the slaughter's!
@@trr9230 Pullmantur went bankrupt so royal carribean took them back and sent them to scrap
Killing these wonderful ships is a huge mistake the cruise lines will soon regret. There are millions of people like me who refuse to sail on the mega ships. Additionally, the mega ships can’t get into many of the amazing ports that the smaller classes of ships can. Also many regular cruisers will wait a long time until this outbreak is well under control until booking passage again. The net result will be that there will be fewer passengers sailing for the foreseeable future so it will be harder to fill the mega ships. Running a mega ship that’s undersold leads to additional losses which will compound problems for the industry. All these factors will come back to bite the cruise lines in the rear end. No problem though, China will happily build ships to meet the needs of the industry in the future and is well positioned to enjoy huge financial success as a result. Stupid decisions have consequences which we’ll all suffer from. Say adios to the cruise industry as we currently know it.
i wanted to sail on this ship so bad
The Ocean Channel 2: she was a beauty! We were lucky to sail her three times. If RCCL hadn’t had such a large fleet with so many great ships to try, I’m sure we’d have sailed her more than we did. I’d rather sail her than any of the mega ships.
