I sailed on Song of america much later in her life when she sailed for thomson cruises (now marella) on charter from louise (now celestial cruises) AND may i add the ONLY ONE RCL ever sold with her bar around the funnel still intacted as RCL had a habit of removing the crown lounges around the funnel before selling the ships on! ...Even though she was an older ship (tbh i love that old cruise ship vibe with not as many passengers or all the zip lines, climbing walls razamataz that cruise ships all have these days) and AFTER the covid situation Louis still had her sailing up to this year ..BUT she still aint gone to the scrap yard in the sky YET In January 2024, following sale, Celestyal Olympia was renamed Bella Fortuna under the Liberian flag, and moved to Çeşme, Turkey.The ship left Çeşme on 26 April 2024 and arrived at Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, on 15 May thats about all i know BUT i do hope she continues to have some sort of life in the unted arab emirates! i loved her for her deck spaces too , plent of space, also when we saild on her we spent most of our time in the bar overlooking the pool deck it was a smal bar BUT agin plenty of seating / deck space, cabins i found to be small eve though we had a lower deck outside on with a porthole at the back of the ship BUT thats only somewhere to sleep and rest your head so didnt bother me! her lounges , bar areas were great ! still one of my fave cruise ships with thmson (now marella) i have had the pleasure of sailing on , that includes the celebration, and spirit (ex patriot!) both of witch were ex HAL ships originaly!

My wife and I had our honeymoon on that ship!

1998 I sailed on the majesty of the seas, it was such an awesome time, best I ever had, I wish I could take my Wife on one, hoping to live to see a time when I can before this life is over.

We sailed on her when she was, I think, the largest cruise ship afloat. Now, RC operates ships 3x her size.

Took my honeymoon on this ship in 1990. She was a very nice ship, very well run and faster than the Carnival ship running the same itinerary. I lost my wife a couple of years ago. This brings back lots of memories.

I'm from Norway and was engineer onboard Sovereign in autumn 1998. What a beautiful ship she was, sad she is gone.

The two sister ship has history of rescuing of serious calamities in areas where she passed by. Side by side Viking serenade then Stardancer from Scandinavian country was shinning stars any one who needs to be saved be it in Alaskan glaciers midnight we are there signature of Filipino sailors🛟🇺🇸🇵🇭🙏🌊⚓️🌟🌟🌟🏝️☝🏽🌏🌍🌎✅🎈

Right now i am on this same cruise ship ( now it's called Cordelia Cruises 🇮🇳 ) taking my 1st 5 days Cruise adventure 🌊🛳️ from Bombay to Lakshadweep 😀

Sadly it’s going to be scrapped in 2024 😢

The Sovereign Of The Seas is built with a high freeboard or deep double hull from keel up to the superstructure, she was built as a Ocean Liner or Cruise trips through the Caribbean and around world trips and her sister the Monarch Of The Seas these ships were built much safer than what they have today better than the new Icon and Anthem. Royal Caribbean ships today are built to be floating islands with Las Vegas hotels and Carnival fun toys on top the hotel because they are not so much for Caribbean cruising to send passengers touring the different islands or countries. Ship today after 30 yrs of service theses shipping co wants to sell for scrap and go with bigger and more fun! They had great ships but it’s not enough.

I sailed on her in 1995 with my parents and my late grandmother. Absolutely incredible memories, one of our best family cruises. At the time she was one of the world’s largest ships and a marvel to behold. I miss her!

I sailed on her in 2003 out of the Port of Los Angeles. My first cruise and it was magical. So sad she's gone.

This is sad for me to see, i was one of the Honduran Crewman for this ship in 01/20/88 i did not sail it, i stayed undocumented in the U.S but i had the opportunity to watch it docked at Miami Cruise Terminal, while i was residing at 17 Avenue Northwest and 33 St in Miami, eventually i became a U.S citizen in 9/22/2004, and i had wanted to sail it as a passenger, too bad she's gone since 2020!!

First and only cruise ive ever been on so far. It was in 1998, i was just a 13 year old kid. I had the time of my life. Royal Caribbean/Sovereign of the Seas was so beautiful, the crew was amazing and i will NEVER forget it. Seeing how old it is made me realize how old im getting. Didnt realize it was built in 88, i think it said as i was looking this ship up. I was going to see if i could go back on the same ship.. So thats sad, but thats just the way it is. I really remember the super still smooth glass like water somewhere in the middle of the ocean. I never knew the ocean sat still like that. I remember we were behind the Disney cruise liner and could hear their music over the water about a mile away. One of my favorite parts of the ship was the huge glowing blue anchor symbol that lit up over the water from the top of the ship. If i remember correctly it had 14 floors and the cafe, breakfast place was called the Wind Jammer i think. Reading these comments it was great to see how many others enjoyed this ship as well. That was 1st cruise ship i was ever on and i was hooked after that. Ive cruised about 15 times since then and 3 more cruises with her during that time in LA. RIP Monarch.

This is really sad. It was a really revolutionary ship. The worlds first megaship. I cried seeing the ship be scrapped.

What a great ship she was! Sailed on her in the mid-90's and she was the largest most beautiful ship at the time. Notice the lack of balconies...oh my how things have changed!
