Taubs wife is one of the more tragic characters actually. She went from one of the most loving people to eventually having her eyes opened by the cracked character that is taub. Since being kicked to the curb by Rachel , Taub is happier and more fulfilled as a person. Rachel's needs put restrictions on their marriage and his career. He agreed to these restrictions because he wanted to make his wife happy. Since divorcing Rachel, his account balances will never be the same, but he now has a job he loves, coworkers who are also friends, and kids that he always wanted. He couldn't have all of this with Rachel because she didn't want kids (still surprised she had a baby) and she wanted a certain lifestyle, which was boring to him.

Also, this is a great scene because of the reactions: Foreman reacts like he does to everything, with a mixture of disdain and boredom mixed with contempt; Thirteen smirks triumphantly because that was basically her idea he should accept this side of him and Chase gets way too distracted from the differential (probably because he's curious/jealous, since he's the promiscuous one).
2 years late but I think he deduced from Taub's behaviour. Tapping his feet but not nervously. He's chipper. Playing around with the paper. Sort of humming/singing to himself? Everything about his demeanour screams a little child who's parents just agreed to take him/her to their favourite place in the whole wide world! And based of their previous conversations about infidelity and (I'm assuming Thirteen fills the rest in on what they talked about off-screen) about the open-marriage concept as a whole, he deduced that Rachel gave the green light!
What she proposes to Taub won't work. It's a time bomb. The only way open dynamics work is if you're able to talk to your lover about their other lovers, and vice versa. Otherwise it's just sanctioned cheating. Also, House revealed the main reasons open marriages turn bad - men want them because they think a single opportunity for sleeping with another woman means they'll sleep with more women overall. Women are way more likely to benefit from an open marriage, and then the husband gets resentful that his wife is getting more out of the new dynamic when it was his idea in the first place.
There's nothing wrong with an open relationship but too many people pressure people into them, use it as an excuse to cheat or view them as a "quick fix" to relationship problems, relationships require effort and respect all sides, if Taub really wanted one he would suggest she hook up with that guy from the support group.
Why? Rachel can't be happy unless she's married to Taub, but he doesn't view marriage in the same way. Though he loves Rachel, monogamy is not his thing. Also, he wanted kids while she doesn't. Sometimes people become parents when they never expected to. When that happens, choosing to stay as a family and to be a present parent for your children is paramount. But, what if in that situation, the parents don't feel attracted to each other anymore? Does the family get torn apart and children separated from a parent? Or should the parents deal with their sexual desires as adults, leaving the family intact? Anyone with an "easy answer" to this has never been in hard, complicated situations in romantic relationships, and definitely haven't had children.

I'm fascinated by the Taub character, I really like Taub even though the character is rather unlikable at least until Season 8 and not very interesting. He's primarily used to draw out the other characters traits by being close to Kutner, then Foreman and then Chase and Park. The only conclusion I can draw is that Peter Jacobson is remarkably talented and makes the character enjoyable

Taub was definitely a horrible husband lol, but I liked his character. I do think that he should have divorced Rachel long ago because he really, really wanted kids and she didn't. And he wasn't fulfilled with filling his free time with fancy dinners and spending time with just her, but she was.
Since being kicked to the curb by Rachel , Taub is happier and more fulfilled as a person. Rachel's needs put restrictions on their marriage and his career. He agreed to these restrictions because he wanted to make his wife happy.
Since divorcing Rachel, his account balances will never be the same, but he now has a job he loves, coworkers who are also friends, and kids that he always wanted.
He couldn't have all of this with Rachel because she didn't want kids (still surprised she had a baby) and she wanted a certain lifestyle, which was boring to him.

It's actually quite common. MRI machines are bright, noisy and is a giant magnet. It sets off seizures.. Heavy metal poisoning.. Sets off the heart because it acts like a stress test. And the MRI shows any abnormal brain activity.
They do, but the staff breaks it once in a while to blow off steam.

I've been thinking about the whole ensemble and their own stories. taub gets absolutely crucified in the comments, by plebs who settle for a superficial understanding of his character, but he is as well-written as anyone on the show. right down to destroying his own marriage.

Said House, based on deduction alone and _everyone instantly believes him_ because they're basically used to his being right about everything. I mean, look at Thirteen's face! Also, this is a great scene because of the reactions: Foreman reacts like he does to everything, with a mixture of disdain and boredom mixed with contempt; Thirteen smirks triumphantly because that was basically her idea he should accept this side of him and Chase gets way too distracted from the differential (probably because he's curious/jealous, since he's the promiscuous one).
2 years late but I think he deduced from Taub's behaviour.

Everything about his demeanour screams a little child who's parents just agreed to take him/her to their favourite place in the whole wide world! And based of their previous conversations about infidelity and (I'm assuming Thirteen fills the rest in on what they talked about off-screen) about the open-marriage concept as a whole, he deduced that Rachel gave the green light!
What she proposes to Taub won't work. It's a time bomb. The only way open dynamics work is if you're able to talk to your lover about their other lovers, and vice versa. Otherwise it's just sanctioned cheating. Also, House revealed the main reasons open marriages turn bad - men want them because they think a single opportunity for sleeping with another woman means they'll sleep with more women overall. Women are way more likely to benefit from an open marriage, and then the husband gets resentful that his wife is getting more out of the new dynamic when it was his idea in the first place.

There's nothing wrong with an open relationship but too many people pressure people into them, use it as an excuse to cheat or view them as a "quick fix" to relationship problems, relationships require effort and respect all sides, if Taub really wanted one he would suggest she hook up with that guy from the support group.
As a woman this was one of the most heartbreaking scenes.

The best part of taub is how he divides opinions. He seems like a great example of a realistic side character. We never see the whole story. And you know the writers had a completely different story they decided not to tell. He’s more interesting than he should be because of these ‘gaps’.

Sometimes people become parents when they never expected to. When that happens, choosing to stay as a family and to be a present parent for your children is paramount.
But, what if in that situation, the parents don't feel attracted to each other anymore? Does the family get torn apart and children separated from a parent? Or should the parents deal with their sexual desires as adults, leaving the family intact?
Anyone with an "easy answer" to this has never been in hard, complicated situations in romantic relationships, and definitely haven't had children.
