The weird audio edit at the beginning is because of a censor that I had to do in the CZcams video editor because I completely forgot that videos with the f-word in the first 7 seconds get demonetized and I had already published the video. Sorry!

lol damn
you mean he has a kongflict
watch the thai movie "Oh my Girl" man. I AM 100% SURE, YOU WILL LIKE IT. AND THE DIRECTOR'S TECHNIQUE.
Thats funny
Oh sheeyut, Mu’fugga
they promised me “Godzilla x kong” why didn’t they make out 😢
Godzilla xxx Kong
Because Godzilla is a size queen and Gorillas have incredibly small dong to body size. A 6 foot tall gorilla has a 1.5 in dong
No that’s Godzilla/Kong
I ship it.
Maybe that mini kong they kept showing in the trailers was their procreation
"Why is the frozen villain's eye still moving to indicate that he's still alive when he just gets smashed to pieces, anyway?"
Because it's funnier to show he is still fully conscious when he gets brutally shattered
That part had me dying, this movie had a lot of funny action moments
Didnt expect to see you here
seeing isn’t enough, he has to feel it
I think what Adum was saying is that if you were frozen fully through that you can be shattered to pieces, then you wouldn't be alive so it doesn't make sense
@@bruhcoin2361 well he wasn't so frozen that he literally cracked like glass when kong dunked him. like there was a lot of fleshy chunks and pulp in there. like it wasn't clean.
When Kong used the baby Kong to beat those other Kongs (that’s real) cinema peaked
Fuck dem Kids
- King Kong 2024
That shit was hilarious. I would've exploded laughing in the theater if everyone else wasn't dead quiet.
Bro gave a child brain damage
@@mhead1117little fucker bit him, so it’s ok
@@blackdwarfstar1246 I went with a big group of friends and we all exploded laughing at that bit. there were a couple other good laughs and we cheered at a few times. so did the rest of the crowd. In my opinion if you cant see this kind of movie with a group, wait till it comes out to stream then have a blast with friends. so much more fun that way. there are quite a few facebook groups, and reddits for these kinds of movies and they love getting local groups together. I would totally recommend that. they arent perfect movies, but with the right group they are a fucking blast.
You can't just talk about King Kong hentai for 10 minutes and call it a review, Adum.
Unironically would be far more entertaining than New Empire.
@@alexgomez6723 No, Godzilla suplex and Kong monkey hammer were great.
Adum, Hentai and Fetish Connoisseur
Funny cuz he DOES think you should be allowed to fuck animals loooool, didn't take single one of his takes seriously after hearin about that one loooool
Melon comment
“I did not fall asleep.” Slap that on a poster
Adum would have given it a 10/10 if it was titled Horse Man
Come on Godzilla X Kong deserves at least a 7/10 for the 20 minute long sex scene!
Save mothra!
I feel like “Those are the same symbols as this other bullshit” is like 40% of modern sci-fi screenwriting at this point
It is so wild how, in the span of four months, we had two Godzilla films that were polar opposites in every way.
Still cannot get over how much I loved Minus One.
I like GxK more but Minus One is so good
Minus one is *so* good
Gxk is *so* fun
@@maninblack3410This
GxK was good. Numbers don't lie. You're just being stupid and comparing it to minus 1. Stop doing that. It's life trying to compare biggie to pac. I'm just starting to realize how toxic the fan base is.
And it's even funnier that every single western version of Godzilla has been pretty much dogshit and the best ones (ironically and unironically) come from the country where it was created. What's the difference between Godzilla (1998) and Godzilla (2014)? One has better visuals but the script is absolutely abismal.
5:44 Adam they did that so that the audience can feel some catharsis, The bad monkey was conscious and aware of his imminent demise. They could have just smashed him but it wouldn't have been as fun if we don't know he felt dread at his oncoming mortality.
it was very cartoony, but given the vibe of the movie I dug it and completely agree that is definitely what they were going for.
Let him be, he does not understand movies
Could have had him make noises instead
“Call Me By Your Gay” is one of the best jokes. Thanks, Adum.
Finally someone said it about the pacing in Monkey Man. The second act was just... like, it wasn't quite as egregious as Beau is Afraid, but it felt like it was from an entirely different movie altogether. Regardless, I enjoyed it and it's nice to see an action movie where it feels genuine and like a story someone wanted to tell. If Dev wants to make 10 sequels, I'll gladly turn up to each one.
I agree. I enjoyed it but I’m more interested in what he’s going to do next.
They showed Scar King was still alive because it would be more satisfying for the audience I think. The fact that he knows Kong will shatter him into pieces
Yes so that he’s conscious and knows what’s coming to him
It's actually wild how he didn't understand this, obviously its to make it more satisfying when he gets smashed. Did this really escape Adam?
@ApocalypticBlades he can be smart
He can also be stupid
@@ApocalypticBlades I think that Adam's point was that he should not be able to move his eyes if he is frozen solid.
He seriously does not understand about movies, nothing against him he just doesnt
Mothra my wife came back so I am very happy
She's mine, back off
I was really hoping the deaf girl had a secret twin sister in the village and both would be set-up to be the Twin-Fairies for Mothra.
@@Mootkins The twins appeared in Godzilla king of the monsters, I have no idea why they were retconned for this movie.
@@revolverswitch Wait really? The twins were in KotM? I don't even remember that part lol.
@@Mootkins yeah I don’t remember that either I was like “are they gonna also have a kid in this village” tho still glad mothra is back. It felt like we had the 3 good guy kaiju together finally. Jet jagar needs to join
I loved when godzilla slapped kong and said "that's for almost getting us killed!" Then kissed him and said "and that's for saving my life" 😳😳
The whole theater cheered
The character acting for the monsters in this movie was so good. Kong's story was really engaging just through the strength of the animation. They do such a good job of conveying the narrative and character of Kong purely visually. You start to enjoy these movies a lot more when you realize that Kong is literally the protagonist, and the humans are just supporting characters, they're not our leads.
But they gave up on everyone else (except the cute part with shimo I liked that) but it’s kinda super easy to emote a gorilla
@@jonahcorona1178 well. "Easy"
It's a lot of work to do dialogueless scenes like that even then. But yeah godzilla was mostly just in 1 mood for this movie. But wingard says he wants to give godzilla the same amount of depth as kong in the next movie, which will likely be more of a solo flick
I enjoyed more Peter Jackson's version tbh.
best intro to a vid yms has ever done
literally
and best outro
Dev Patel is so so fine. Also an amazing actor. Can't wait to watch Monkey Man
he literally is so hot omfg and you should! the film is awesome
Was fun
I always liked him in Chappie and The News Room (regardless of my feelings about those in general), but wow the facial hair. Wtf. Didn’t even know I was into that.
i loved him in The Green Knight. Helps that he’s easy on the eyes too
5:56 the reason the spoiler character's eye is moving despite the rest of him being frozen is so Kong can get the finishing blow on them instead of other spoiler character
Monkeymqn made me think that there is a lot of visual storytelling and landscapes to explore both literally and metaphorically
Loved GxK. It’s very flawed in alot of areas but I love the heart it has for its monsters like Kong. Really rewatchable for me.
This may not be the biggest CZcams channel but it has been an enduring part of CZcams for over a decade now
Godzilla was a fun film overall.
Definitely had it's issues, but it was fun to watch overall.
I do wish Godzilla got more screentime, and his fights lasted longer. Tiamat especially
That was my biggest issue, the Godzilla fights lasted literally 7.3 seconds and then we don't see him again for another 15 minutes.
Love the intro. Kinda wish guillermo still cared about giant Kaiju's smashing each other. If we have to have giant monsters smashing I wish it was guillermo. Glad monkey man is still making movies WAIT
ngl as someone who had a lot of fun watching Godzilla x Kong, I kind of wanted you to tear it to shreds lmao
As a guy who basically stared through the entire movie with no emotion I too wanted someone who someone to support my opinion.
@@taptiotrevizo9415 it’s okay to give in to your inner child every once in a while
Big monsters fighting yayaya I love having fun watching pointless kaiju slop with lots of action (I’m r/srs btw)
@@maninblack3410 I think it wouldnt be an issue if this wasnt supposed to be the big built up moment(s) that Skull Island and KOTM set up. Its like if the next movie in the Minus One universe was Godzilla doing karate
@@maninblack3410
Pacific Rim did that without sacrificing every other aspect of what makes a film good
I cant really comment on the quality of Godzilla X Kong as I havent seen it but idk why there is this sentiment that you can have "serious" films or "fun" ones
I loved Monkey Man. Also a band I love is on the Soundtrack and their song played during one of the best scenes so I was very pleased
I really hope he talks about the movies in this video
So Monkey Man was actually originally supposed to be a much longer and a lot more in depth and potentially more substantial in terms of backstory and character, but unfortunately when the movie went from Netflix to Universal a lot of it got trimmed out. I’m not sure how much of a difference that would’ve made, but I just thought I’d share.
is there a source on this? i would be kinda shocked if Peele saw the longer cut and then let Universal hack it down
That sounds like bs. Peele said he got involved because it just had to be in theaters... but you alter it to fit theaters? That doesnt make any sense and sounds like people just talking crap in circles
I think Peele probably got involved and pushed you Universal to take it to theaters, and I’m sure Peele would have loved for the full cut to be seen in theaters, but that’s ultimately Universal’s call. But (and I’m not sure if this is a true runtime or not) if you take a movie that’s three hours and get it down to two, then you’re gonna be able to get more showings per day which isn’t a concern for streaming services. Idk that’s just my theory.
@@haydengray3523 I really want to know where you got 3 hours from
The middle dragged heaps and it was rlly repetitive. We already gathered what happened to his mum, so spending 30 mins to just show it more was a bit dull. Still the first and third acts ruled
Monkey Man is an essential inclusion to the "Hey Arnold!" cinematic universe.
???
Something that bothered me about the final fight in monkey man was how quick it would have ended if the guards used guns.
That could be said for the majority of martial arts movies, though
@@Eidlones true, but it’s particularly egregious here because it was established earlier that the same type of guards used guns when chasing Dev patels characters after the failed hit.
@@Naz-xk6hq I don't remember specifics, but I believe that he always started an engagement while there were non-guards around, making firing off shots pretty risky. And any guards that would join afterwards, would have the previous guards to worry about shooting.
Might consider it a flimsy excuse, but it works for me (If I remember correctly lol)
If you waited until May when Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came out, you could’ve made this into a simian trifecta
Monkey maaaaaan…
Said in Johnny Depp voice.
I remember him from Hey Arnold
I LOVE the editing in his videos so much. It's so entertaining to watch.
for some reason I really, _really_ hoped Adum or the editor would have put a mirrored, slightly tinted face over the reflection of the television during the opening throw-away skit lol
so glad I got to see problemista early at a film festival, shit was so delightful and emotional
They show the eye moving to tell the audience that the villain was still conscious when it got obliterated into pieces. I also think that part of the villain's face wasn't completely frozen over, so it could still move their eye
Adam wingard peaked here
Not gonna say if that’s a good or bad thing
monke

So will you see Godzilla Minus One when it comes out on digital?
He already saw Minus One, he talked about it in a catch-up stream that’s either on this channel or the YMS highlights channel
@@plasmasnake4774 Oh cool, what did he think of it?
@@Xenofilmsproductions he thought it was only ok. Admired the vfx, but thought the human drama was way too melodramatic and unsubtle. Still better than the American Godzilla movies but not better than Shin Godzilla.
I like both equally but I can see how Shin Godzilla would be more of Adum's cup of tea. It has more of a deliberate style and arthouse direction whereas Minus One is more mass appeal as far as Japanese cinema goes
@@maubpp oh
@maubpp I think what didn't help with the human drama was the dialogue. Forgive me, but a lot of the dialogue just felt VERY anime. Could just be the result of how it was translated but (not to be THAT guy) I was able to recognize a lot of what they were saying WITHOUT looking at the subs and when watching it with subs... yeah. It's still stronger than other Godzilla movies with human drama, but the dialogue can be hit or miss for some.
2:40 "they give him som Kong-flict" we noticed
they gave him some KONGflict
Wow. Adam loved Godzilla and Kong with that review
Love the 3 way reviews, definitely need more 3 ways
I'm still thinking about that one elevator kill from Monkey Man
The lack of Godzilla in modern Godzilla movies seems to be a running theme. For godsakes I'll take a guy in a suit please just give me my bara lizard
That intro goes hard.
All the kaiju fights actually go mostly onscreen, with only brief cuts to the human plot. And Skar kings eyes moves to give his death sense of brutality that he is still conscious during it.
I watched Kong yesterday with a friend, there were only 2 other people and we were dying of laughter. Absolute Cinema
Godzilla x Kong: a new marriage
Glad you’re back to talking about newer movies!
Godzilla x Kong & Monkey Man was… bananas lol
5:30 YMS seems to be referencing Ice Age a lot recently.
talks about a frozen eye for about 30 minutes.
Love the newest content wave on this channel. Seems like you really have fun making videos for the mainchannel at the moment and it shows. They were all fun 😊
Goddamn, I get fully torqued whenever a YMS video pops up!
they gave him KONG-flicts, Adum
Glad you liked the scene where the King Kong used mini-Kong as a weapon for violence, Adum......... 😂😂😂😂😂😂
appreciate the duplo reference
Loved the Lizard & Monke Movie
Watched Problemista last night and had such a good time. It’s great
7:40 holy shit this film must be incredible. thanks adum

Excited to watch Problemista
Gotta say, I love the ATHF vibes your new studio has.
I thought the eye movement thing was to show that he was scared, being on top and inchage the whole movie like nothing can tuch him now know his F'd, made him finally realise he cam be beat and shows him a new emotion of its the end.
I definitely was not expecting "The Shining" to have a Godzilla crossover
Take a shot every time Adum says "this film" in the Monkey Man review. lmao
I just saw Problemista. It was so good!
Theory: the eyeball thing was to ensure that the audience knew the villain was alive, implying he would feel maximum pain at the point of “shattering.” Narrative-wise, his “weapon” being used against him could be considered satisfying, from a certain perceptive. 5:25
I keep thinking that's Demetri Martin on the Problemista poster, and it really makes me wish that Woodstock movie he was in did better so I could have kept seeing him in stuff. Important Things was great
I'm surprised Adam didn't say it but Skar King's control of Shimo reminded me of Megatron's control over Rampage in Beast Wars. That is all.
Rampage: "You presume to order ME?!!"
Megatron: *Smug grin*
Rampage: ......Ok.
Best part was when King Kong one upped evil monkey and pulled a 😏 on us
Love it. Thanks Adam
I watched Monkey Man recently actually and seem to have formed similar opinions. Some of the fights had the classic shaky-cam that you see in most American action movies so that they don't have to actually teach actors to fight. Which was weird because when that wasn't happening, the fights were clearly well choreographed and there was real talent behind it.
I will say, there seemed to be a lot of inspiration in the movie from a Thai movie called Ong Bak, especially some of the scenes in the underground fighting arena. Particularly the fight which ends in a single hit, only for the crowd to suddenly go silent. Very reminiscent of that movie.
I feel like if they cut out some of the more boring parts, or just made them more compelling, then it would have been a 10/10 for me.
The human dialogue in GxK was absolutely awful. I don’t go into kaiju movies expecting Oscar worthy writing but my god GxK felt like it was written by AI at times
Worse, it was written by a committee of out-of-touch executives
“Hold up I gotta come with you bc I need to dunk on this troll in my discord” wasn’t peak cinema to you?
I hate to make this reference but tbh the dialog and the trailers for both GvK and GxK feel like rick and morty parodys. They just feel sooo dumb but also really cynical. The KOTM trailer had that awful "god- zilla" line but like idk that first trailer is like top 10 trailers ever for me.
@@jxiris oh my god i completely forgot about that line
@@Kyle-qi8ojprobably because it’s not a big deal, makes sense for that character and so sperging out about it would be cringe
This is the feature length directorial debut from actor Godzilla and he also stars in the film!
0:05 how crazy would it be if Adum's face was reflected as well.
Adum, I was wondering if you like any of the monsterverse movies?
That cameo commercial still makes me laugh every time
As a super mega fan of the Godzillaverse, I can confirm I did not recognise any of the kaiju killed by Godzilla
“I did not fall asleep.”- Adum
"There's telepaths and secret societies and prophecies"
Holdup! I had to click back on the video to make sure you were still talking about Godzilla x King Kong.
Great review bro
Took shrooms and watched this Godzilla movie. 10/10
A little surprised you scored Problemista so low
Nonsensical, cheesy, and stupid are exactly how I described the new GxK movie, but that's a positive for me lol. I love how goofy they let these movies become, very reminiscent of the showa era godzilla films. I can completely understand why its not for everyone though. I absolutely have some nostalgia blinders on.
I'm excited for the sequel Godzilla / Kong: Civil War, in which they have to sign the Rio Act and be responsible for their actions.
did the super mario movie really have "random" licensed music? all i remember was the mario soundtrack stuff that showed up to give me memberberries
That cameo open mic at the end was gold lol standup show when adummm?
I’m not sure why this movie’s called Godzilla x Kong when it really is a Kong centric movie. I didn’t mind it cause the sequences with Kong were pretty decent, but it is quite confusing.
I have heard that the next film is going to be more Godzilla focused though, so if they can keep the self aware tone from this movie, hopefully it should still be enjoyable? And if not, at least we still have the Toho films to look forward to :)
Good review Adum but I wanted to point out that for Godzilla x Kong they address that the monsters kill tons people in Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019) where the main character who strongly hates Godzilla learns to accept Godzilla is necessary because while yes Godzilla kills like 10,000 people on accident in a fight. The other monsters would kill like 8,000,000 people or whatever the population of any city the monster shows up in. Godzilla killed his wife during the events of Godzilla 2014 so he hates Godzilla and then learns the that Godzilla is necessary.
I liked the part when Kong used a baby monkey to beat up other monkeys
I'd like to think that at the end of Godzilla x Kong when they are in Brazil, they basically cause 9/11 X 9/11. And when the movie show them heroically defeating the villain, you just hear all these ambulances and people crying and wailing because of the destruction.... it's so terrible it's funny....
Monkey Man is everything John Wick movies wish they were
I really enjoyed Godzilla X Kong
Need to go see The First Omen, Adum
Honestly kind of surprised at the Monkey Man review, I thought majority of the cinematography needed work, the opening of the film the camera is too close and constantly moving and it's just dialogue setting up a story.
The camera work in the action scenes felt sloppy too, with shaky cam, whip pans and out of focus shots the norm, there were some shots and sequences that worked well but mostly it was in spite of the camera choices not because of them (for me).
The story was super thin and generic (essentially a revenge story that tries to cram in political overtones halfway through), and there are plot points that don't really go anywhere (namely the female character who appears a few times, helps the main character and then disappears without any real motivation.
Overall I did think the film was worth watching and I enjoyed the sound elements and some of the action ideas, as well as Dev as an actor just in general (and Sharto Copley) but I can't look past the fact that I couldn't see what was happening for large parts of the film.
Is it just me or did Mica Levi rip off the Zone of Interest score from YMS outro music??
