9350 is probably the best tractor made by Steiger. I bought a 9250 brand new in 1992. I ran it for over 20 years and 6000 hrs. The only repair was to replace the blower motor. Best tractor I ever had…..
Ages ago, mid '70's, when I worked on a farm/ranch I was able to spend time on a wide variety of tractors. I haven't been on all of them for certain, but I did become a fan of some over others because of power, ease of operation and features.
International topped the list due to the power on the 2 wheel drive tractors.
Deere had a bit more comfort due to seating, controls placement and overall operation. Their lower draw bar power tractors were very nice to operate because they utilized the power efficiently.
Oliver was the best cold weather tractor. Had the most consistent power band, low, but consistent.
Minneapolis Moline is the best at alternate fuel operation. Very low power, yet best power delivery on alternate fuel.
Ford & New Holland nice middle of the road tractors.
All tractors have their strong points and weak points in different ways. I have a tendency to look at tool operation for the task at hand. So I don't have a set brand preference. Like vehicles, if you take care of them, they will take care of you.

I just got done putting in a ton of hours in a 9350 chisel plowing. I'm thinking your is a little bit newer. The one I was running had smaller decals and a caseih emblem up front instead of the steiger emblem. Same function controls though.
I love watching fresh soil be turned! I haven't disked in years but that was one of my favorite things to do on the farm. That is an awesome new tractor and it definitely looks a little more solid. I was just going to say in the JD you said the 3 point rams were starting to leak when you were ripping. You should build a ripper caddy. Just a thought!!
I'm an old Case guy and I still think they screwed it up when they didn't go with the Flambeau Red and Desert Sunset yellow. Plus I never liked articulated 4 WD tractors. We had two 2470 Case and those were old work horses. That is just like people that liked Ford or Chevy or Dodge. Just personal preference.
The tractor makes the farmer in you. Good on you in Case you drive into the fields. Fields good.
9350 Steiger, that was the first tractor I owned and was not much older than you. It was a great machine.I didn't have 3 point or pto, it was a power shift and had the out board planetary axles. Probably the best articulated tractor ever built. The simplicity and reliability of that tractor are unmatched. Today's tractors have too many electronic components that are ex-pensive to replace. I remember I had the 9350 for a couple of years and I went out and purchased my second tractor, a new MX 220 , for planting and light tillage, spraying, NH 3 application ext... One of the remotes went out of it, they cost 2 thousand dollars for a new one. The warranty took care of it. Not much after that a remote quit working on the Steiger, it cost me 50 dollars for a new one and I could replace it myself. The magnum remotes are stacked together with o rings and I usually have a mechanic deal with it. Thats crazy the price difference between tractors that aren't ever 5 years apart. You Might want to get the tachometer fixed because those M 11 Cummings don't need to be run wide open. Its happy zone is generally around 1800 rpms but don't let it get below 1500 or it will fall on its face. Sorry to ramble on but seeing that tractor takes me back, it was a very positive experience, I don't get those with the equipment out there right now. Good for you I've got a 68 R series Mack, two transmission, Plus a 9170. Both have been pretty bulletproof.

If that was your house when you were picking up the dogs, I really love that house. It brings back memories of my childhood home in Alabama. Folks is always want to buy a one just built but I would take a house like yours any day compared to a new one.. u have a beautiful house and great location around farmland

If you truly bleed red nothing else will quite do. You'll like the grain cart on that thing. In addition to being taller you can swing the tail to better center the cart over the truck. If you pull up on a slope or some reason a little off center just wiggle your a## end over a bit and boom centered. Works better if the grain cart auger is at the front than centered along the side but still helps. Keep going Grayce. Have a safe spring.

@Haygenandoreo never really thought about doing that. The B doesn't get out much and dad takes time off work to run the 966 on the disc mower as we both have full-time jobs

This was nice to see you working a field again. I'm curious did it take any getting use to time in regards to driving a tractor that pivots in the middle of the tractor as opposed to steering without the pivot?

Hi Grayce. Will you still be able to get spare parts from steiger or case for you tractor or is it all third party. First thing it needs is an air ride seat than a tach. You look so happy driving big red.

Enjoyed your video. I like green tractors but that Steiger is definitely more beneficial for your farm use. I still wish Steiger’s were in the lime green color. It really made them stand out.

Lots of great insights into real farming activity and equipment. I love learning the 'hows' and 'whys' of what you do. (Are your discs carbon steel or boron steel? Which is better and/or more cost effective?) Your 'user experience' with John Deere versus Steiger is also very interesting. (My past clients included DICKEY-john, Caterpillar, and Growmark farm services in Illinois, Iowa, & Wisconsin.)

Would've been nice if you had found a green 1 with a CAT engine. They burn less fuel and I've seen them run to 12,000 hours with only a bearing roll running on Rottella T 15/40 from new.

Grace do you want to see a Steiger? There’s one in Iowa it’s called the Steigers called the 747. This is the largest stagger ever manufactured. Please check it out. It is awesome very very, very big.
I'm not even a farmer but I would trust that tractor over anything new. Guess what even if it does break down at least you can work on it.

Those are good tractors. The 30’s 40’s 50’s fwd JD weren’t that good. The Magnums like yours I’d get rid of as soon as as possible. There good tough tractors, but they try to kill you. I’d get a good 8420 and you would be in love.

The 92-93 tractors are one of the best series tractors ever built especially the power shift ones.we have 2 9270 and a STX 425. The John Dog isn't even in the same league

@@thefarmergrayce You're welcome!! I did a little research on that tractor and it appears that there is not a separate engine speed sensor for the tach; it gets the signal from the alternator. You may want to check for a bad connection or to see if the alternator is going out. Enjoy your day!!!

I like the green tractors, but if I was choosing between an 8650 and a 9350 I would choose the Case too.

Firms the soil. In our sandy soil, if you don’t roll it, it will dry very quickly.
