It doesn't. There is a city in Iowa I believe that is called Prussia and that is what it relates to. The city relates to Prussia though, but not this song.
Funny History Fact: The Prussian and later German Empires thought Americans completely inept at war and thus were no threat to them. For 80 years they thought that until US Forces were playing Jazz in German Beer Halls in 1945.
They were right the US was inept at war. You're talking about WW2, in which the German Empire wasn't involved. The US dressed like cowboys until the early 1900s, unironically. They lost against Filipinos and considered Mexican BANDITS, not Soldiers, just common criminals to be a serious threat and then during WW1, generals like Perishing ordered attacks on German positions when the war was about to end. Incompetence if I've ever seen it.
@@romanempire4495 - Really? The Modern US Forest Ranger Uniform is only an updated version of what the US Army was wearing from the end of the 1800s. The Filipinos were so victorious, they got their independence 45 years later. And the Germans were so worn out in WW1, that the British almost capitulated and France was nearly defeated, all in 1917 and 1918. So yes, the Germans were right. They were supermen we should bow to. Despite the fact the US pacified the Philippines, granting it its first long term spell of peace and stability. The US Army had just adopted new Campaign Hats and European uniforms and was the first to discontinue bright colored uniforms for khaki and olive drab. wish we had some field bands out here on the western front that sounded as good as you, we only have 1 that I know of, and they rarely go to events :*(
Um, it's not even in a popular German style. Because it references Prussia, doesn't make it at all Prussian. Like others have said, it's a British tune, with typical Irish/Scottish and Welsh accents.
This tune is British, from the wars of Germany. 7 years war.

I take it this was written by/for a regiment composed primarily of German immigrants.
It predates the Civil War.
probably written for gen. von steuben
It was written before the Civil War, its a british tune from the seven years war
This song introduced me to fife and drumming, even on the 100th listen it’s still great
i play this everytime i am allowed to in war of rights. the lulls in the fife and drums are my favorite time
We in the 52nd New York also often play it. When our soundbord man says "Some distance from Prussia" the whole company cheers
Fife and drum in war of rights is the best
Thanks Huey!
Arguably my favorite of all of them. Too many great tunes to pick from.
Long Live Prussia
Blah Troll horse with no name
This is the semi-official theme for our representation of the 49th Ohio Volunteer Infantry here in CA. ;)
This is probably my favorite fife and drum song of all time.
British tune. Seven years war.
This song is freaking awesome!
Awesome tune 👍 Mountain Fife's and Drums does it well, they're based in Ca, great to have something on the west coast
I could see this being a great hip hop sample
Lol that would be interesting
I recognize the melody from civil war movies but i never knew it had a relation to Prussia.
