    God bless Jamaica land we love!" The progress being made by this Government is great. If Jamaicans want to be ungrateful and put the other side in, then good for them. As a pensioner I never saw a cent increase under pnp. What a difference every year now!!!
    WOW!!😂😅😊🙏👍✌🤜🤛💖

    What major international airport doesn't suffer from overcrowding and long lines?
    During peak times, it comes with the territory.
    IT'S International both on the airport side and the airline side. That's how they make money.

    I flew out of this airport to Kingston in1978 heading to the One Love Concert at National Stadium.
    This would be great for all the new hotels in Hanover, of course Negril and the rest of the South Coast.

    it is kind of interesting they call Ian Fleming an international airport .when it comes to the US only AA American Arilines flying there and it depends on which state you in.lol and.it best take an umbrella with you because if rain falling when your flight land or going to board you gonna get soaked .it is the old fashon way of disembarking/deplaning and boarding.

    Definitely, if it's feasible to build an international airport in Negril, it would be a game changer. It would take pressure off Sangster and even more passengers would come. I think it would worth the investment.

  • @phyllisthompson4207

    Great segment ! Thank you. A Airtropolis, would be greatest for Vernamfield; rather than an AirPort for regular air planes; because it would have the space to handle huge cargo, storage, cold storage shipment, and trans shipment for the wider caribbean .. Would also be a great storage facility for disaster preparation cargo storage as well! Your thoughts?

    This was always there. Use to be very busy with 3 flights per day. It was called air jamaica express. early morning
    flights to montego bay connecting to kingston, a midday flight straight from Tensen Pen and another evening
    flight. Don't know why it was closed down. This was very active in the late 70's 80's and 90's.

    Great news if it becomes a reality! On an another note, the main road in Negril all the way to Montego Bay is a total disgrace! How can a major resort town and major foreign exchange earner look this dilapidated and run down! This road should have been given priority before the St. Thomas leg. It must be brought up to world standard as quickly as possible!

    I support a 4th n 5th international Airport......Negril would certainly be a side piece to Sangster...this would ease the pressure currently exists at Sangster. Vernamfield on the other hand would be ideal for central Jamaica as that part of Jamaica is the only region without an airport. Major cities such as Old Harbour, May Pen n Mandeville nearby would benefit. Also ideal for cargo.

    First thing the Negril Aerodrome is in Hanover not Westmoreland. Check the parish boundary, and you will see, that Hanover should get the credit. The things one has to consider is which would be easier and more cost-efficient to build since the needed bypasses of Hopewell and Lucea along with the near complete Montego Bay bypass could cut the travel time down considerably to where it might be not so important as the huge cost of extending the runway and facilities to accommodate large jets like the ones that land at MoBay. Due to the short runways, these large jets cannot land at Negril, and even at Sir Ian Fleming aka Ocho Rios Airport, in St Mary. It sounds great for the government to tell people they want to build, yet in reality the runway is only about 25% of what is needed, so to get it up to even Norman Manley standard, and extending it into the Morass swamp may also in time hurt the very beach that it would service. What really is a better move, if they want to take pressure off Sangster's International is to extend the runway of Sir Ian Fleming to make large jets land there, as even with the recent upgrade it is still too short and do Vernamfield to a standard like Sangster as it has the room for the runway length needed.

      Yes , they are Cessna Stationairs, also called Skywagons. These pictured , have underside cargo pods.

    • @B1970TBronze
      @B1970TBronze Před 8 dny

      They are Cessna 206s also called Stationairs, with added underside cargo pods. Yes, I hope it’s developed as a reliever airport to Sangster. I flew into MoBay in May and had to wait in line for over an hour to be processed. Parts of the corridor were quite hot. The departure line , wasn’t as painful, but still could use refinement. Ridiculous! Nice vid!

  • @GI4JESUS
    @GI4JESUS Před 9 dny +1

    I am not against upgrades to Negril Aerodrome, I think adding flights to Negril and Ocho Rios will be a relief to busy Sangster International Airport but Jamaica needs a big airport with 2 active runways, currently all airports in Jamaica lacks a second a second active runway. Jamaica must look forward to the future because capacity will not decrease. A bigger airport will also open the island up to layovers from long haul flights(passenger or cargo) . Lastly, one must consider that a huge part of Negrils tourism economy which is almost unique from the other hotspots on the island is the fragile biodiversity or Negril and also the inability to do massive future upgrades as is the case with the current airport's. There comes a time when you can only do so much with so little and no matter what you do if the capacity is present any upgrades to the same space is just a waste. Think about Sangsters International if the land was present to build a second runway.
